Chapter 209: A life For A Life Didn’t Seem So Bad
[KAWAI]
The King had once again played them.
That was a reality that the Grealor were coming to terms with. It wasn’t going to be easy for them but still, they couldn’t help the feeling that Danny wasn’t the only reason Zaffuto dragged them to this place.
If anything, the mad King hadn’t made a request to Grealor, no. He had sent word for Gabe to hurry if he didn’t want to lose more than he had intended to.
"I don’t understand why King Zaffuto would summon me with much urgency," Gabe had pointed out to his friends back in Grealor. It was so shocking for him that even they couldn’t understand what was that important.
If it was truly about Tamiko, the King would have sent an envoy just to make him understand what the fuck was going for him. If it was about the wolves of Grealor, he would not have been that adamant. That had been more than he had anticipated.
"Did the messenger leave?" Ciel had asked and Gabe shook his head. It was like he was living in utopia and he had control of all of that.
Nothing had made sense to him then and even now as he sat across from the king, watching the man make a fool of them, Gabriel still didn’t understand.
There had to be some confusion among women because the only thing on his mind that could have triggered this much rebellion was not something that he wanted to even think of.
If he did, then he was admitting to being fucked over by the Lycans and that was too cruel a fate, even for him.
He couldn’t think like that.
"Why did you summon me here, it certainly wasn’t about Daniel and handing over. You have taken the power for yourself thanks to your son so you don’t need anyone’s approval to do shit. Why are we really here?" Gabe insisted.
He couldn’t think negatively and at the same time, he couldn’t stand the tension that was here. It just didn’t make sense to him.
Gabe hoped it wasn’t what his mind was pushing him towards, because if that was so then not even the heavens would have mercy on them. He knew that and surely his crippled fuck of a father had to have known that too, right?
"You are intelligent, Gabriel. Daniel’s case was just the first on the list of things I need you and your father to bear witness to. As you already know, a blood oath is needed for the young Daniel to unbind himself from you lot.
"Now would you be so kind as to slice your palm and that of your father’s? Young Daniel and my little angel will do the same," King Zaffuto said lightly even though his tone was commanding the Grealors.
He was giving them the choice to do that on their own or be forced to do it because either way their palms had to be sliced. That bond had to be broken and there wasn’t a soul in the universe that would stop that without endangering their own lives.
This was a risk that Gabe was witnessing and it wasn’t as king. He knew that breaking the bond with the blood of Tamiko and Danny would mean a permanence that he would never get out of.
It would mean that he was severing the bonds with not just his beta but also the love of his life. It was the kind of pain that he wouldn’t ever get o that was his punishment by the fates, his reminder that no matter how fucked up things got between him.
And Tamiko in the future, there was never going to be a chance for mercy. They would be looking at each other as two people who had nothing to give each other and that was something that horrified Gabriel. But even then, he would do it, he knew it.
"As you wish. But isn’t Konstantin supposed to be here to witness the unlinking of his precious little mate or is he too much of an omega coward to come and stand in a room of Alpha’s and r betas?" Gabe asked and Tamiko let out a warning growl.
He hated it when anyone talked ill of his Kosta and he would fight if that was the only thing he needed to do. He didn’t have the time to play hero for anyone right now but for Kosta, he will do the impossible and things that had never been thought of.
Gabe was testing the worst waters right now because Tamiko wasn’t in the mood for any shit. He was okay with whatever his father was trying to do but there had to be lines that couldn’t be crossed.
He would make sure Gabe knew that if he didn’t understand the simple concept of what life was meant to be like for him.
"That’s an interesting observation, Gabriel but I doubt my Lycan Chief has the time to be playing catch with wolves. But don’t worry your pretty head about it. The Lycan Chief is an omega, but he is still the Lycan Chief.
"You more than anyone should know that that is a title given to the strongest of all warriors in any kingdom, right?" King Zaffuto said in the calmest tone he could muster and Lord Sadako snickered.
He had been holding out so well, watching his brother be an asshole but he hadn’t expected that the King would stoop to that level. It was as if he was giving Gabe the chance to understand what was coming for him.
The way that the King had addressed the omega title was something that even got Tamiko curious yet relieved. His father was playing a game that even the prince didn’t understand. So, Tamiko figured he could just watch shit unfold.
"I just thought that the royal omega would be protected and not let out in the world. His job is to be bred and bred to pop out heirs for the crown is it not? It would be disappointing if he got touched by someone who wasn’t his prince, don’t you think, your Highness?" Gabe asked lightly as if he was provoking the King and his son.
Tamiko’s face was just covered in a knowing smirk, the opposite of what Gabriel had thought would happen.
The unpredictability of the father and the son was something for the old books because right now it was not as clear as to who was on what side. It was as if life was going on and there wasn’t much that they could afford to do at the moment.
"Looks like you have been too focused on your rejection by my son, Gabriel. Is that why you looked excited to be here? Did you hope that I had finally gone bonkers enough to make a decision as stupid as hurting my own son’s consort?" King Zaffuto asked with a laugh.
It was as if Gabriel Grealor was the most predictable stupid wolf of all time. Perhaps it was too cold of him to think that of Gabriel, but then life wasn’t exactly a shoal that Gabe could come lay on, right?
They had to face what was coming for them and the king was here, laughing his ass off because of an assumption that the young wolf had made for himself. It seemed so insane at the time, but Zaffuto Hinata didn’t seem to care as much.
"Well, I am an Alpha, and Igor is a mere Omega, your majesty."
