"You have been good to my son, Daniel. So, I have an offer for you, but you can refuse and still, nothing will happen to you. That, I swear... in my honor," King Zaffuto began and there were gasps heard in the room.

No one had ever received a direct proposition from the king, and that too when they were of a different race. The way that the King was currently staking his honor on the response that Danny would be giving was just wild as fuck.

Maybe there was something wrong with the man this time.

There had to be.

The stakes had been against Danny from the very beginning of this meeting, and this tilt was something that the Grealors hadn’t expected.

It was the weirdest offer and the fact that it was coming from King Zaffuto made it even creepier and yet there was no malice in the king’s tone; just admiration for the young wolf.

"An offer?" Danny asked curiously yet carefully. He knew that the sly King could lure him into a trap and leave him hanging without a way out. It was something that scared the shot out of him, but at the same time, it gave him hope that maybe there was more to the madman’s proposition.

—That maybe he wasn’t just a man composed of pure evil and that he was able to reconnect with his human side. But then again, there was no knowing if this was opposition to making Danny do the vilest of things in the realm.

That was also a consideration for the young beta and it wasn’t to be ignored at any point in time.

"Yes... The position of the Lycan prince’s Lord is open and you have the best possible qualities to fill it up, which is why I am giving you first priority before emailing the formal announcement to the people of Kawai in three years.

"You are already his best friend and he trusts you, so it won’t be awkward for you. As his Lycan Lord, you will be his advisor on royal matters, until he steps down from the kingship if ever that time comes," King Zaffuto began as he looked at a shocked Danny and an amused Tamiko.

It was like this was the one thing the young prince hadn’t seen coming and it was interesting on so many levels. It is like the world was finally healing and his father dearest was taking the lead.

Lord Sadako was watching calmly, while Sanjiro was not sure what expression to wear because the emotional turmoil he was feeling was obvious. Then again, he couldn’t be named for it because no one had expected that the King would pull such a thing.

"You will be to him; what my brother is to me. And as I said before, you have the option to refuse, because you will have to transition from a wolf to a Lycan since only Lycans can rule over Lycans," King Zaffuto continued.

Danny stared at the king like he hadn’t heard that man right.?The proposition was absurd. It was almost like a dream, only that this wasn’t a dream for him.

This was the truth.

The King was giving him the one thing that he would never have gotten from Grealor even if he had won the Grealor Alpha position. There was no way that this was true, right?

"Tamiko... is he... but he just..." Danny fumbled his words, not sure what he was hearing. The Alphas who had come along to witness his dishonoring were staring at Tamiko and Danny like they had lost their minds.

It was obvious that this had got them unprepared and if they had known that this much power was there for the young betta to grab, they would have been nicer to the man.

However, then the dice had been cast and there was no time for takebacks, this time that was the one reality that would forever haunt them and they wouldn’t even know where to start from.

Oh, the beauty of a man’s insanities.

The King, on the other hand, was so relaxed as he stared at Danny with warm and loving eyes. It was like the world was theirs to play in.

"If you want it, the position is yours, brother. Papa never makes deals he never intends to honor," Tamiko said calmly, even though he was shocked.

He hadn’t been sure of what to expect from his father, and frankly, he had been expecting the worst for the King.

Maybe that was a harsh line of thought seeing as the man was his father, but the King did not exactly have the best track record even with his son’s emotions. But that wasn’t something that Tamiko would let anyone outside of the circle know.

He wouldn’t give the Grealors the satisfaction of watching him be shocked, so he smiled, at his best friend like this wasn’t the best thing that ever happened to the both of them.

"What?" Danny breathed in shock. It was an overwhelming moment for him, an impossible dream that had come true. This wasn’t what he had hoped for, but at the same time, of all the things that Daniel had been hoping for, this wasn’t it.

He had to make the craziest choice in his life, a choice that would save his life and also one that would make him one of the most powerful men of Kawai. He was never going to be just a Beta wolf, and damn was it interesting.

For a moment, Danny could see the way that things would unfold. Of course, there was a chance that rebellion would be made known by the Kawai Lycans, but with the king’s backing, Danny would be safe.

"What do you say, Daniel?" King Zaffuto asked calmly. He didn’t have any hits of mischief in his eyes and while Daniel Belova was aware of how enticing the man could be for his own benefits, this time he was tempted to trust the king.

Maybe he was losing his mind too, but this wasn’t something that he would ever get from anyone, and certainly not in any lifeline if he rejected it.

"But you cannot do that. He is a Grealor Beta wolf! He is supposed to be ours!" Gabriel said and Danny stared at the man like he was losing his mind. On all scales, the timing was impeccable. The King had truly pulled a fast one on them.

"He is in Kawai. I get to decide his fate, and he has a choice in that. Whatever it is you have to make for him, you will have to follow all the official Kawai channels. Is that understood?" Lord Sadako stated, shutting Gabriel up.

He could tell that a lot of things were startling for them. It was one that even Lord Sadako hadn’t known until the man had opened his mount. Sadako had been mentally preparing to keep the father and son from fighting and now he looked like a proud brother.

Oh, he was definitely proud of Zaffuto.

"We do not agree to this," Gabe spoke.

"And yet it does not depend on you," Tamiko chuckled darkly.

"If you could please answer today, Daniel," the King said with a fond smile.

"I accept the offer, your majesty," Danny responded.

"Uncle," Zaffuto said.

"What?" Danny wondered.

"You have earned the privilege of calling me your uncle. You are family, after all, young Daniel," the mad King stated with pride.
