The Kawai bells did ring just like Tamiko had predicted. It was almost a shock to Danny but then the both of them had long learned to understand that Kawai was not as easy to be in as Grealor.

In fact, with the mad king’s antics, this land was probably the place with the lowest life expectancy rates, and yet even then they had remained welcoming. Oh, to be born a Lycan under a tyrant’s rule.

"Those are not warning bells," Dany pointed out when he heard the bells. In his time in this place, he had explored and read the books just because he didn’t want to be on the wrong side of the law so Tamiko would be forced to deal with another unpleasant situation.

Danny was acutely aware of the eyes as he had spent all the nights he had been in Kawai reading and reading. Maybe he was obsessed with the damn library but he had seen what an error could lead to in Kawai and Danny didn’t want to endanger any lives.

He didn’t want people to suffer because of him when in reality he was just another visitor in their home. Surely they deserved to live the lives they wanted to, right?

"yeah, the way it is being run is specific... listen to the syllables," Tamiko said and Danny stayed at Tamiko like he was insane. Since when did the bells have syllables to be spelled out?

It was obvious, but he needed to listen a second time because his father was always full of surprises and he had made it his mission to make lives a tad bit funny and it was interesting. Perhaps the kid needed to have some faith in his dearest father too, no?

"Alright then," Danny said and they listened.

"K. A. I.T. O." Danny spelled out amid the ring and Tamiko smiled at him.

"You’re learning, brother. Come, let’s go see what absurdities Father dearest has for us today," Tamiko said lightly even though deep down his heart was hurting. He was trying to be jovial because he refused to be seen as sad by Ashton and his fucked-up son.

It was something the Tamiko wouldn’t ever let happen. Not in this lifetime and certainly not the next. Danny wanted to say something, but even he understood Tamiko.

He could see the determination in Tamiko’s steps even as they headed to the throne room where his father was undoubtedly with the Grealor alpha.

It wasn’t hard to see that that was where the king could take them instead of the conference room because King Zaffuto wanted to remind them who was seated on that throne what he was capable of doing and the damages he could cause even just by merely existing.

Perhaps it was a crazy thing for the man to do, but what else was there for him this time? His son was home and was probably not on the same page with him. This was the only way to mindfuck anyone who could be reason enough for his son to have to leave home.

"Do you think he will kill someone today?" Danny asked as they entered the throne room. The king was always unpredictable and Danny was worried that he would end up being one of the victims of the mad king.

It wasn’t that hard to tell what the king hated wolves and with Ashton here there was no telling what the man would do, not even to his son’s best friend. Oh, he was right to be scared and Tamiko stared at him in shock.

"You... You think it would be you?!" Tamiko asked and Danny stared silent as she stared at his best friend.

The king knew what they meant to each other but if Tamiko was defiant, there was no imagining what Zaffuto Hinata was willing to do or even the steps he was willing to get into, to get what he wanted.

That made the man the most dangerous and most volatile creature alive in the realm at the moment. Maybe there was another way out of this, right?

"He won’t. He won’t try to hurt you. I won’t let him, I swear it," Tamiko said to me and Danny smiled stiffly before Tamiko nodded to the high guards to open the door to the throne room.

There was tension in the air and Tamiko was determined to prove to his best friend that he was safe. Maybe it was a cruel responsibility at this point in time, but fate was not exactly the kindest to them.

They had to embrace that which was and that could be before they understood the chaos of what may or may not have been given life in the time thy hand be her, all of them.

"I knew my little angel was intelligent," the king’s voice was heard from the farthest end of the large throne room. It echoed across the room, creating ripples of horrifying sounds, the reminder that hell perhaps did look like the Kawai throne room.

There were high guards stationed every three feet apart against the walls of the big room. They had their helmets on and their weapons were unsheathed.

They looked like they were waiting for war inside the palace throne room which was not comforting at all, seeing as there were only seven people in this room. It was not what anyone had expected, but fuck the realm for what this had turned out to be for the lot of them.

They had to figure out a thousand things and Tamiko held the conviction on his face as he made calculated yet relaxed steps toward his father. The king would never hurt indirectly and that was the one thing Tamiko was certain of.

"Tamiko... I think I should not head over there," Danny whispered in fear as they closed in on the alpha of Grealor and his son who looked nothing like they had seen him the last time.

It had barely been a week since they had last sighted each other and yet Gabriel Grealor looked like he had been to a contest of prices and was bound to win. He looked so damn good anyone would have wanted him.

His scent was potent and he looked attractive as fuck even as he released warm pheromones at the sight of Tamiko. It is like the young alpha was telling Tamiko that he didn’t mind being there for the man.

"No way he told them about Kosta and Into being on the same page," Tamiko sighed in disbelief as he read the expression on Gabriel’s face. It was pure lust and desire for Tamiko.

It was almost like Gabe was offering himself to Tamiko without any strings attached and it was safe to say that the disgust Tamiko felt was so much that the room suddenly began shaking.

The throne room of Kawai, one of the largest gathering rooms of the largest kingdom in the entire realm, was shaking because of Tamiko’s disgust. His father who was watching was amused and he loved this.

He was enjoying every bit of it and Danny wasn’t even sure if he needed to be here. This was strange and the king was a bastard for whatever he was trying to do with both Tamiko and Gabe.

Surely the king wouldn’t try to mess with his and Kosta’s bond, right?

"What is happening?" Danny asked as the grip Tamiko had on his arm tightened.

He wasn’t sure when Tamiko had held his hand and pushed Danny behind him in a protective stance.

Everything seemed to be going a little too fast and in the midst of all that was the devil king who had a smile on his face as he stared at his disgusted son and then at the excited Grealor wolf that had broken Tamiko’s heart for years on end.

"You want me to bond with this mutt? Is that why you brought them here?" Tamiko asked when he got closer and Gabe’s desire had grown more evident. Even Day was disappointed as he looked at the king, and Lord Sadako.

This was insane and Tamiko wasn’t loving any bit of it.

"I didn’t say a thing, my little angel. You said it yourself. I have no control over you, nor do I intend to have any over you, angel. Whatever choice you make, I will approve," King Zaffuto said and Tamiko let out a growl at his father.

He couldn’t believe that this was real. There had to be an illusionist somewhere this time. Because there was just no way that this was real right now.

"Where is Kosta? You said that he would be here, so where is he?" Tamiko asked when he sniffed around and there wasn’t a sight of his best friend.

Instead, Sanjiro, the bastard who had been so braggy about his erasthai, was the person here. The seven of them would be having a long day if Kosta didn’t show up and Tamiko was certain of it.

"The Lycan Chief excused himself to go collect bounties. It is, after all, his job and his responsibility to the kingdom," King Zaffuto stated casually, and Tamiko’s world stilled. There had to be some joke in his father’s statement, right?

He did not just release the man out there like that, did he?

"What?" Tamiko questioned in disappointment and pure worry. He couldn’t understand what his father was playing at and he was scared for his erasthai.

Kosta wasn’t in the right mind to be out there, not with everyone knowing he was the Lycan omega. He would be a target and King Zaffuto had to have known that too. And yet he still sent the man out.

"You heard me. Anyway, sit. We were waiting for both of you. And now that you are here, we can start talking about Daniel," King Zaffuto said but Tamiko wasn’t having any of that. He just couldn’t stand this.

"You sent an omega on a bounty hunt?!" Tamiko growled slowly and everyone including Lord Sadako flinched at his one. But his father was still smiling at him like this was nothing to him. Oh, he was evil for this.

"I sent a Lycan Chief. Do you have a problem with how I handle my subjects?" King Zaffuto questioned in a matching tone, with a smirk on his face. Before Tamiko could respond, he commanded, "SIT DOWN. We don’t have all day."

Tamiko found himself walking to the nearest seat.

Danny followed with his jaw on the floor.

This was not going to end well.

They all knew.

But the king’s smile only brightened.
