"I told you he would do anything to make you stay home," Danny said as they walked into the space kitchens. It was emptier than usual and the only people who were there seemed determined to stay out of sight of the new prince.

They were worried that they would encounter the same fate that most of their people and friends had endured after staring at the mad king in the eyes.

The horrors of what Zaffuto had trained his people into were staring right back at Tamiko but this time, he was too cooped up in his mind to even realize that the staff had been leaving one by one so that he wouldn’t notice.

And maybe he did notice or maybe it was because he couldn’t think of a good enough reason for his father to bring over Gabriel and Alpha Ashton to Kawai. It was a wild line of thought and truly, scary.

"It all doesn’t make sense. I am here, am I not?" Tamiko sighed as he stared at Danny hopefully and Danny just chuckled. The facts were staring at the both of them and it was just a matter of time before everyone went back to what it had been long before the young prince was born.

But even that didn’t seem convincing enough for Tamiko. His father was not changing. He was not being the king right now, but was that supposed to mean that he was being a father?

"He is making sure I don’t leave. Because if I leave there are also chances that he might piss you off and you will come after me to talk it out. He fears that you might never want to have him as your father anymore after yesterday.

"Your father is growing more desperate," Danny pointed out and Tamiko sighed.

All of this was just like a reality that had been fucked one too many times and one that not even Tamiko ever thought possible. It was wild and his father was not predictable at the moment.

"He is throwing a tantrum? What the hell? Isn’t he too old for that?" Tamiko asked in disbelief. His father was always proving the craziest of possible theories to Tamiko and he didn’t know what would be next on his father’s list of the impossible.

Tamiko honestly couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that his father had chosen to be petty for whatever reason. The man was throwing a whole ass tantrum and it didn’t seem to bother him.

That in itself made Tamiko wonder what the fuck was going on in his father’s head. Surely there had to be a better way out of this, right? Then again, what else could he do to make his father understand that they all had to make some choices along the way?

"At least he’s not killed anyone yet?" Danny shrugged and Tamiko couldn’t believe his best friend. They were supposed to be thinking of ways to make the king see sense, but right now it seemed like his best friend wasn’t even thinking like his father either.

"You are on his side?" Tamiko asked.

"Honestly yes. With Alpha Ashton here there is no telling what your father caught wind of. The man had been too pressed about your body with Konstantin. And if he went after Ashton then it is to send a message.

"Either he is sending me away with the Alpha or he is going to warn the Alpha hence the meeting with Konstain and Gabriel. I don’t see any other reason why he would invite Gabriel though.

"Unless he wants to make Igor feel like you have a choice while he doesn’t? Well, that would be too fucked up of him., but then again the man is not exactly the kindest of the men in the realm, so that can also be a possibility," Danny said and Tamiko sighed.

None of what he was hearing was good for his ear and he hated the way that the scariest notions were making sense. If Danny was right and his father was bringing Gabriel to Grealor to threaten Kosta then Tamiko had to find a way to talk to Kosta first.

He needed to reassure his erasthai, which was something that he had to do before Gabe reached Kawai. However, how the fuck was he supposed to do that when it seemed like the world was rooting for their broken relationship?

Where was he to start from when his father and his uncle were on the same side? But was Lord Sadako ever aware of what his brother was up to this time?

"What if this was his plan all along? What if he wanted to use my possible mating with Gabriel to break off that with Kosta? What if he tries to force me to pair up with Gabriel for thirteen Kosta?" Tamiko added defeatedly.

He could have imagined the horror on his Erasthai’s face at the possible declaration and frankly, he wouldn’t let that happen. His father had to have known that there were lines that even he wasn’t allowed to cross with him.

Some things were better left unattended regardless of how chaotic they seemed and the rejection of Gabriel by Tamiko was one such situation. Undoing the past would bear so many consequences and Tamiko hoped to the goddess that his after wasn’t that cruel to them.

"You have little faith in your father and brother. The man wants you to stay, and there’s a chance that the Alpha coming here is just to meet his death so you wouldn’t leave and go after Grealor.

"Or you will go after Grealor some other day. There is no telling what the king’s mind is like, but breaking your heart is where the line is. He would never intentionally do that, brother.

"Have some faith in the psycho king," Danny said casually like they were discussing the weather of the day. It was not something that Tamiko had expected, but surprises are slowly becoming their norm here and it wasn’t easy.

Maybe they had to be patient and wait it all out because, at the end of the day, they had to fight for what was theirs. Tamiko had to fight. Danny had to make sure that justice was served for his mate who was murdered by the Grealors.

They were bound in so many ways, but vengeance was the greatest link the best friends had.

"I’m not even hungry anymore," Tamiko said and Danny stopped him.

"We are about to witness the longest shit show in the realm and we won’t even have food breaks in between. If we are to get through this with our sanities, we need to eat and eat well.

"So, sit back down because regardless of what you are feeling right now, you won’t be able to say hello if you are constantly yawning because of hunger. I am willing to bet the entire Grealor that your father will stop the proceedings if he so much as sees you yawning.

"So let us spare each other the horrors, right?" Danny stated and Tamiko glared at him. He was being realistic once again Tamiko wasn’t ready for that part of their lives. Maybe at the end of the day, they would find a common ground eventually right?

Oh, how this would be the longest of their lives.

"Fine. But we leave if the Kawai bells ring," Tamiko said.

"Why would they?"

"Because I know Papa so well too."
