Chapter 204: An Invite From The Master of Hell
[KAWAI]
"Is that..." Tamiko asked as he stared at the cripple who was at the palace entrance in the oddest of companies. He looked too familiar even his awful scent that had triggered Tamiko one too many times.
It was almost like the young Lycan was stepping out of a nightmare right back into another one that was worse than that. Perhaps it was not right, the way that he was thinking of the man but then Tamiko hadn’t exactly been expecting the man here.
This was not what he had ever imagined possible in the history of the races that despise each other without any restraints. Then again, Tamiko couldn’t quite think of a possible reason that could bring the odds to this point.
It made no real sense and as the young Lycan faltered in his steps and his best friend held him, their eyes both held the same questions of what the fuck was going on there.
"I am definitely not liking this," Danny said with squinted eyes as he narrowed at the sight before them. It was like a literal chaotic illusion because there was just no way that this was real.
So, they walked over to the gate, where the mad King was smiling from ear to ear like love and life had finally reached his very cold heart and he was melting at the sight of everyone... Including wolves.
Maybe that was a reality that he was yet to introduce his son to, but after the hectic day that they had had, this was definitely not on anyone’s bingo card.
And the fact that lord Sadako wasn’t here with the mad king was all that was needed for the young prince to know that this way was just one of his father’s whims. What was he aiming for this time though?
"Papa?..." Tamiko asked as he trailed off. He wasn’t sure how to start the conversation because honestly, this was a fucked-up reality he was staring at. It was impossible on so many scales and it was terrifying, to say the least.
The king himself was all smiles, and the creepiest part of it all was that his smiles were genuine. Since when had the great Zaffuto Hinata ever smiled that hard if it wasn’t with lord Sadako or his son?
This man was up to something and it wasn’t comforting in the last of ways. It was the creepiest of moments that the one had ever watched the father manifest into. This was insane.
"Oh... Kaito, you’re back, son," King Zaffuto said to his son as he pulled Tamiko into an unexpected hug. It was like the king was sending a message, especially with the way the hug was tight and gentle at the same time.
This just couldn’t be real and while Tamiko had questions he had to wait and see what the fuck was going on here.
The way that his father had also called him Kaito instead of Tamiko was a red flag to the young prince and he was certain that before the day indeed, another life would have been ruined in the hands of the mad king.
Would it make the young Lycan feel at ease though, now that father dearest was pulling the worst of stunts, or was this just another game for Tamiko to never leave Kawai? Oh, but it was unsettling.
Tamiko stared at his father, trying to understand what the fuck was going on. He tried to read into the man, but the mad king was never one to be read like an open book. He was a man of so many faces that it was hard to tell which one this was.
Honestly, the only real face that he had seen was when his father was with him. The king was always genuine with him regardless of the endless crazy stunts he pulled. But who was to benefit from this latest one then?
"I thought you’d be out all day so I invited Daniel’s Alpha. We have to smooth some things out. But now that you’re here son, it’s going to be great having you join the discussion seeing as you trust Daniel with your life," the king said.
Tamiko could have sworn his father was high on shit.
There was no freaking way he invited the one man that Tamiko hated more than even Gabriel himself. Tamiko had long planned to ruin Alpha Ashton in the worst of ways and honestly, this was just motivating him more.
That in itself is strange seeing as they were not even in Grealor territory at the moment. He wanted to ask her father so many questions about what the hell he was thinking, but the son settled on a simple one.
Perhaps his father could answer that for him too, right?
"What?" Tamiko asked in confusion. He looked at Danny who was also looking like this was another realm they were stuck at. There was just nothing that could justify this and yet as they looked at the king who was awfully smiling, they could tell that danger was looming.
The king was playing some cards at the moment and it was hard to tell who would be the unfortunate target. Perhaps it was the one man who was on the wheel hard right now?
Or was it something that they didn’t have to think too much of?
Oh, the king had really lost his mind with this one.
"Don’t worry his son is on his way here so you two can mingle while Sadako, Konstantin, and I do the boring officiation. It will be fun, my little angel," the king said as he kissed Tamiko on the forehead, a sight that got Alpha Ashton staring at the father and son like he had better places to be here.
It was creepy as fuck and yet the mad King seems so convinced that this was easily the best of ideas out there.
Insanity had finally materialized and not even the heavens would ever be able to save Alpha Ashton from the predator before him. Maybe if he said a few prayers he would get to the side of hell that had the mad king’s accomplices right?
"Can... I’m hungry, Papa. Can I head to the kitchens first?" Tamiko asked, his discomfort at the situation making a show and his father just smiled at him. It was genuine and heartwarming.
It would have been the prettiest smile if the man who was smiling wasn’t the devil incarnate. Perhaps that was also why Alpha Ashton was confused about what was happening.
Maybe he had a chance to make it all better.
Maybe he didn’t have to live through the loss that was headed his way, but did the mad king care that much about Alpha Ashton?
"Of course. You and Daniel can head over and you must join us later, my angel. You can’t miss this important meeting alright?" King Zaffuto said softly and gently like he didn’t want to upset his son.
It was quite the sight, really because even Danny Was certain that the mad king was bipolar. Someone couldn’t be that happy after losing over fifty council members in one evening and not even having someone be punished for the mess.
"No problem, Papa. Danny and I will leave now," Tamiko said as he left hurriedly. Hoover before they disappeared completely, Tamiko saw his father’s eyes turn red, the kind that Lord Sadako had told him happened when the king was raging mad.
