Chapter 198: Determined To Be Doomed
[GREALOR]
"Tamiko is reason enough. His father and uncle are enough motivation for us. I don’t think you even understand the scope yourself Gabri;. There is nothing, quite literally nothing that can save us from Tamiko.
"Not even Daniel Belova, the beta who was whisked off. He is as loyal to Tamiko as your father is to the Furfantes," Ceil said and Gabe knew that there was no talking them out of this.
They had made up their mind and were indirectly giving him the chance to decide what side he was on. It was risky and something there Gabe himself wasn’t certain would ever work.
But then he was always going to be on the side of his friends, however crazed their choices were.
Perhaps this way he had to side with them, but would it ever be easy? Or was this going to be the worst reminder of what the universe would eventually be like for them at the end of the day?
"So we prepare then. If we are to go to war against the Lycans and Father really comes a time when Father and those damn Furfantes succeed in grabbing Kosta, the war must be ready for war because King Zaffuto could wipe us out of existence with a snap of his fingers," Gabe reminded.
It was a cruel time they were living in, one that didn’t mind the pain that it would cause them. It was a reality that held so many gates at the palm of its hands and one that couldn’t care about what the repercussions would ever be.
This time, they had to be ready and if the mad king came at them, even though they probably wouldn’t make it out alive, they would try to hold the brown as long as they could, right? Perhaps that was what life had to be for them.
"No need to try hard. Once we have Igor, we will be safe. Tamiko wouldn’t let the man who saved him be hurt again. The only hard part is to get the barbarian. After that, we will be set and we can wait the chaos out," Maki said, indulging the absurdity even more.
Deep down they knew they were dead meat, but hope was staring right at them. The desire to never have to be in the sun was lulling them into comfort, a thing that was scary on every scale.
Perhaps it was in the way that life has hit the theme one too many times. Or maybe it was because, for the first time since Judd had been murdered, they actually felt like they had an option, even if the option didn’t look like the best of options.
The universe was trying to put them into the greatest circus and pitting them against the one man who would have their heads shed out in seconds.
"We will need Zula on our side though," Cole said and Gabe stared at him confused as if that was something that could ever be possible. The woman’s loyalty was never to be questioned and there was no chance that she would be on their side with this madness.
They had to think of something else, perhaps someone they could rely on. But who the fuck were they supposed to send their pitch to when Alpha Ashton himself was not even making any sense to the lot of them?
They had to keep trying to shop, desiring the impossible mission that was staring right at them.
"Why? That woman is loyal to my father and she doesn’t try to do anything that will be against him," Gabe recalled like the trio had forgotten what this was going to be like.
The woman was never to be bought and that was one of the many traits that made her desirable to the Alpha of the doomed pack. It was her loyalty that paid for the thesis that the Alpha had done.
Gabriel was willing to bet that Zula knew of the reason why the Furfantes had gone after young Tamiko right before the king could even hold his son. She had to have known what the kid had done back then to trigger the hatred that prints the fun facts to give the poor man the worst punishment of eternity.
No father wanted to lose their son and the Furfantes had managed to bring the mad king to his knees like agt. Gabriel was certain Zula knew the basics and she would try to indulge the theme in the last of ways.
"She will perform a few tricks and we will be set. Don’t worry about that, she owes me a few favors and I plan on collectively if we are foreign to be going after Tamiko and his mad father," Ciel said with defiance.
He had already lost more than enough and he couldn’t bear another loss. Maybe that made him a weak man, or maybe it made him the one man who would stop at nothing to get what needed to be done.
It was a risky mission, one that could probably end with all of them doomed, but then again, the fate that they were bound to endure in the hands of the Lycans once Tamiko made his way to Grealor wouldn’t be any different and that was the motivation they needed.
Gabe, who was listening to Ciel, had to remind himself to never cross the man. He was borderline coo in the head, that was for certain because no one had the guts to say all that and to plot against the Lycan king.
It was pure success and nothing would change that little truth. Perhaps that was why he didn’t object this time, because if this was their last act, then they would finalize it with a bang, right?
"Alright then. Let’s meet in the afternoon after our usual duties and then come with her, so we can have her in the plan. This has to work because if it doesn’t work, not even the midnight moon will ever be able to save us from the wrath of the Hinatas," Gabe said hopefully.
They were playing the most dangerous game in the realm and placing the most dangerous bet on a woman who could probably ruin them and fuck them over. They had to hope, because that was all they could afford at this time.
They could pace all day and dig holes in the floor of the beta’s office as much as they wanted to, but at the end of the day, if they had to figure out an easy way out wheel the Alpha was out there with the Furfantes.
They would be doomed, which was why this... all of this had to work out.
"It will work and if it doesn’t, then we will die trying to make it work regardless of what comes our way," Ciel said with conviction. There was so much that could happen in the process and lives could be ruined.
This plan was not just based on them but on the futures of the people of Grealor. The wolves deserved to live their lives happily as they native to, which was why right that moment, Ciel was not going to step back.
"Alright, but how will we find the Furfantes?" Gabe asked the obvious.
"Zula will direct us. But until then, we need to go back and do our duties," Ciel reminded them before they walked out to wait out the time. Perhaps this time, if they dared to hope just enough, the moon goddess wouldn’t doom them.
