Chapter 192: And Your World Was Filled With Tears

[GREALOR]

Gabe was conflicted about what his father was planning. Sure, he hated what Tamiko had done and even despised Igor for taking away the one man he had fallen hopelessly in love with, but even he knew that this would seal the fate of Grealor forever.

They had their quarrels sure, but for this fate to make such a critical decision at a time when the realm was the most unstable, it is just hellish. It made no sense. So, he sought out Zakhar, his only living best friend to ask for advice.

Maybe they would find a basis there, right?

"You look terrible," Zakhar pointed out and Gabe just smiled. He had been in that state for the longest time since Tamiko had left. So much had happened in his life but none had hit him as hard as Tamiko’s choice ever had.

Maybe because Gabe had been hoping that despite everything, the mate bond was strong enough to have him repent to Tamiko for what he had done. Maybe it was the only chance he was shopping for so that things would be alright, but none of that ever worked.

And Gabriel Grealor had remained a shell of who he had once been. He rarely smiled; he rarely even spoke to the cycling members of Grealor. He was just there to do the okay thing that his father sent to him.

It was almost like Ashton was running the pack and Gabriel was just there for the formalities. But even then, that didn’t make Gabriel feel any less of an Alpha because honestly most of the time he was in his own world.

"I’ve been worse," Gabe said as he sat down beside Zakhar. They were currently in Zakhar’s office which was once Danny’s. It was the beta’s office, and with the way that things had turned out with Danny, they only had one chance then.

But right now, there were more pressing matters for them to be dealing with. No one had spoken against what the Alpha was planning, and it was dangerous. Somebody had to stop him.

Someone had to remind the man that there were lines that were a little too costly for him to be toying around like that. He wasn’t supposed to be fucking up everything and yet that was a truth that had evaded Alpha Ashton.

The man was headstrong and was determined to prove to everyone that he had some sort of power. Granted, power was addicting, but there had to be reminders of what not to do.

What the Alpha was doing was crazy, especially at a time when King Zaffuto was actively on the lookout for the people who had kidnapped his son and made his only heir suffer. He was raging with desire for the blood of those who had dared to slice his Liana open.

Oh, how Gabe was desperate for someone, anyone to make his father see sense. Maybe that’s why he was here next to one of his best friends, relieved to brainstorm with the man.

There had to be a different alternative than pissing off the mad Lycan king he had no regard for life. Surely that wasn’t what they had all gotten to, right?

"You’re here because of your father’s decisions?" Zakhar asked knowingly. It was no secret that the Alpha’s suggestion had made their lives sound crazier than they should have been.

That wasn’t what life was supposed to be like and even the barbarians were aware of that little truth.

It was like they were fading in and out of their relatives and the Alpha Ashton wasn’t even scared of committing another grave sin that would definitely put the Grealor pack out of existence.

This was psychosis at its peak and someone, anyone, had to try and make him see sense regardless of how great the Alpha felt at the moment.

"He has lost his mind, and I need someone to help me talk some sense into him. I could go to Zula, but we both know she would follow the old cripple into hell if that is why Father wanted her," Gabe said disappointedly.

He knew that the relationship his father had with Zula was almost the kind that he had with Zakhar. It was one that screamed loyalty for the farthest ends and Zula would be caught dead defrost before she dared to betray the man who had given her reason.

The woman trusted Alpha Ashton a little too blindly. For someone who was supposed to give him advice on what he needed to and needed not to do, Zula was awfully quieter about the madness.

That was the one thing that made Gabriel wonder what kind of shit his father had promised the woman, but even if he finally figured it out, there was no telling what they would both do.

Life was no longer as interesting to them as it had all once been before the mess began. This was a dose of madness and Gabriel Grealor was the only one with the potential reach to make them stop.

But what if he was unable to? What if all of this was just too fucked up and he wouldn’t do shit for anyone then? What would happen to the people of Grealor who trusted him?

"There is no rational way out of this, Gabe," Zakhar sighed in defeat. He had been assessing the situation and the more that they focused on alpha Ashton, the crazier shit got.

The man was convinced he was the messiah of the wolves and that he had enough power to cripple the entire Kawai kingdom. That in itself was unhinged because they didn’t even have a use for his legs.

How the fuck was a cripple supposed to cripple the largest kingdom filled with untamable beasts in one go? Just because they had not been able to save the Lycan queen twenty-six years ago didn’t mean that there were precautionary measures put in place, right?

"There has to be a way out of this, brother. We are doomed if we let him do what he intends to, and it won’t just be a one-time thing. The Lycans won’t stop until we are wiped out of existence.

"Anyone with a brain already knows that going after THE Igor Konstantin is a terrible idea no matter what state he is in. It is the worst of the worst possible ideas," Gabe said as he paced in the room.

He couldn’t wrap his head around what his father’s intentions were with the barbarian of the realm, but what he was certain of, was that it wasn’t just the wolves of Grealor who would be paying the price for that unhinged state.

So many people would lose their livelihoods and his father surely had to reconsider, right?

"After Konstantin?" Zakhar asked in confusion before continuing, "What the fuck do you mean by after Konstantin?"

The shock on Zakhar’s face was all that the young Alpha needed to know that he wasn’t the only one thinking his father was out of his mind.

The Alpha needed to take a step back and remind himself of what was at stake, because otherwise, Grealor would pay the price along with everyone on their way. The barbarian of Kawai was not just any barbarian.

He was the barbarian who made the barbarian run for mercy and striking at him now was the worst possible line of thought for anyone.
