Chapter 189: Anything For You, Always

Chapter 189: Anything For You, Always

[KAWAI]

"Can I please think about it?" Kosta asked respectfully as he looked in the direction of the mad King. He knew he was risking his life with his words but then he hadn’t recovered from the mess just yet.

He still felt like shit and he didn’t want to pretend that everything would be alright. It wouldn’t. At least for some time and he just had to try and work that shit out, even if that meant that he would do it on his own.

Life was scary most of the time, and in Kawai, it was starting to be normal like when the mad King didn’t have an erasthai he loved enough to charge completely for.

"What the fuck do you mean think about it?" Tamiko asked, the confusion clear on his face. He was okay with whatever Kosta wanted, but thinking about a rejection was just not right.

It was scary and Tamiko didn’t want to go back into the hell hole that he had been thrust out of. Maybe Tamiko was being a coward for insisting on this, but his life had always been a mess before.

He couldn’t afford to lose someone he actually cared about, someone he would do whatever it took to make happy. Granted, last evening wasn’t the best of them all, but Tamiko had sworn he would make things make sense.

He had promised to keep Kosta safe and make sure his Kosta would continue living his life without having to go through the shit that the Lycans were probably going to want to put him through.

It wasn’t fair and Tamiko knew that, but this was ruining him internally. Couldn’t Kosta just consider it?

"Just that," Kosta began and Tamiko stared at his erasthai like the man had eventually lost his life. But that wasn’t the end of it, because Kosta continued, "I need time, your majesty. I don’t know if I was aware of what’s signed up for."

It was a simple statement, one that seemingly didn’t hold any harm and as Tamiko’s hatred at Kosta, he couldn’t help but fly like a bucket of cold war had been splashed on him.

It was the worst of reality checks and Tamiko wanted to disappear. This couldn’t be real. This was worse than the pain he had endured on Grealor and Grealor was the one place that had managed to ruin him endlessly.

This was not cool at any point in time and Tamiko was about to lose his shit. He just didn’t understand why the fuck it was so hard for them to have an understanding.

Yesterday was just as new to Tamiko as it was to Kosta. He had never seen such shit happen, so they were technically on the same page with all of this. So, what the fuck did Kosta mean right now?

What was this even about?

He couldn’t really be serious about it, could he?

"You don’t mean that," Tamiko said breathlessly, unable to accept it at all.

"And what do you think I mean, Your Royal Highness?" Kosta asked angrily. He was feeling frustrated by the turn of events and all the emotions he was feeling at once. He was scared of so many things and he was right to be scared.

His feelings were valid and Tamiko hadn’t ever tried to invalidate his experience last evening, it was something that they had struggled to find their footing with, but then as fate would have it, they were still unable to.

At least not how Tamiko would have wished for, and it hurt so badly.

"I can fix it. I can make it better. I can give you as much time as you want. But I can’t lose you, Kosta. I just can’t," Tamiko sighed in defeat. He had never had to feel all of this at once and it was driving him nuts.

How life had never been meant to be so complicated, but why the fuck did he feel like the universe was laughing at his misery once again? Why did Kosta suddenly change his mind? Did Kosta not want him anymore?

Did Kosta hate him that much?

Oh, but Tamiko was desperate for answers he wouldn’t be able to find along the way. What else was he supposed to do then?

"I’m your subject by law, you won’t be losing me—" Kosta began and Tamiko threw his plate against the wall, the splitting sound of broken porcelain the reminder of how loud Tamiko’s heart was breaking.

He had expected everything and nothing, but this was just pure evil. What the fuck did Kosta even mean by that? Was that what they were supposed to be? What about the marks they had on each other?

What about their love? What about the trust they had fostered? What was so hard for Kosta to think rationally? Even from a point of fear, Tamiko could see that Kosta was being a little cruel.

Why the fuck would he mark Tamiko then when this was definitely bound at some point in the future?

"Dammit baby," Tamiko said angrily before he took deep breaths and continued... "You... You know that’s not what I mean, Kosta. Please, baby. Please don’t do this to me."

This was the hardest watch for the Lycan king and Zaffuto had to remind himself to let his son breathe and make decisions on his own. He just hadn’t thought that it would be this hard, and boy was it riling him up.

"You’re being selfish right now. I told you I need space and you won’t give me a chance to do just that. What else do you want from me? Or do you choose to disregard me because I am an omega and everyone now knows that?" Kosta asked coldly, shocking Tamiko even more.

Where the fuck had that line of thought even come from and what the hell did Kosta even mean? This couldn’t be real and Tamiko was sure he was living his worst nightmare at the moment.

"What?" Tamiko asked slowly, unable to format a proper sentence. This was the worst of the worst days he had ever had in his life. It is worse than the time Gabriel had slit his arm for fun because they loved the shade of Tamiko’s red blood.

"You tend to be forgetful when it matters. Anyway, you are the prince and I’m your subject. If you want to force me to be your erasthai then I’ll do it but only because you have the power to ruin me if I don’t," Kosta said and the table went silent while Tamiko whimpered defeatedly.

This was not fair at all and surely Kosta himself had to have known that too, right? What he was doing was cruelty personalized and Tamiko knew he couldn’t win. He was suddenly feeling suffocated, and needed to leave.

He didn’t mind that the Lycan out there still hated him. All he wanted was to leave and he wouldn’t stay a moment longer here.

"I... I didn’t think like that. But if this is what you really want, then you’re free, my precious. I won’t stand in your way. Just... If ever you need help, you can always ask uncle or papa.

"They won’t say no to you. I hope you always remember that I never meant to hurt you, Kosta, and what I put you through will forever be my greatest shame. Please excuse me," Tamiko said before leaving the table uneventfully.

Danny followed him.
