Vengeance of The Broken Lycan Prince [BL] -
Chapter 188: And I Want To Keep Us All Alive
Chapter 188: And I Want To Keep Us All Alive
[KAWAI]
The Lycan kingdom was tense when morning came. Everyone was visibly walking on eggshells and it was scary. The palace servants had been careful in everything they had been doing.
Most of them had woken up earlier than usual and had done their chores then left the palace. It was like they wanted to be anywhere but the place that had been their workplace for the longest time now.
They were worried about what the day would be like and honestly, they couldn’t be blamed for it. No one had heard of the royals of Kawai and two were scary, to say the least.
The Lycans were scared of coming out of their homes, and it was obvious in the way that the Kawai streets had remained empty for the better part of the morning.
The markets had been opened, but then no one had come to sell or buy anything, so it is just a shell of what it had always been. The air was silent and curt, like the people of Kawai were starving themselves for the worst of it all.
"Good morning," King Zaffuto greets his family at the breakfast table.
He looked casual and even managed to wear brighter clothes, unlike his usual wear which was always dark and gloomy. The King even had a smile on his face as he took in the sight before him.
It was like paradise for him and he wasn’t about to complain.
Oh, he was excited to see how the day would inform their decisions after the tensions from last evening. He was the king, but here with this bunch, he was just another member of the family, or so he wanted to desperately believe.
Maybe it was because, after yesterday, the King had chosen to be a father first and a King later. It was not the best of decisions for any diplomat. But then Zaffuto Hinata was Zaffuto Hinata.
There wasn’t ever going to be a reason for them to doubt the king, right?
On the king’s left, was his dear brother, the man he had endured so many things with. His most trusted Lycan Lord and the man he would give up so much for. Lord Sadako was there as usual, his calm demeanor easing the tension that was around the table.
It was like no one wanted to be here but they had to be because breakfast was the most important meal of the day. Oh, but he was silently hoping that shit wouldn’t get screwed this time.
Next to the Lycan Lord, was the werewolf Beta who wasn’t sure why he was with the Lycans anymore. He had wanted to make a run for home but with the chaos in Kawai, he was certain that they would use him to send a message from the King and his son.
It wasn’t something that anyone wanted to do right now and he was determined to survive. Oh, but Daniel Belova was so close to shitting himself despite the fact that the tension at the table wasn’t directed at him.
He had been to tense spaces but none of them had ever been as tense as the one here. The silence was deafening save for their breathing which was labored and careful at the same time.
They were trying to be at their best when they all didn’t even know what their best was supposed to look like this early in the morning. This wasn’t how life was supposed to be and boy was it scary.
It was insanity at best and there wasn’t a way that they would ever be able to understand the complexities of the life that had been waiting for them. Perhaps such was the life they had to live in, right?
The Lycan Chief, Igor Konstantin, was calm today, sitting a few seats away from the King and the rest of the crew. He looked like nothing had happened last evening and like he hadn’t cried himself to sleep the entire night.
His omega scent was also masked, something that Tamiko noticed when the Lycan Chief came to seek him out for breakfast. It was almost like they hadn’t experienced the horrors of the previous evening, which was cute and all, but they all knew that something had happened.
A lot, in fact, judging by the endless silence around them.
The servants who usually joined the royals in the breakfast room were nowhere to be seen. It was like they had managed to disappear into thin air in one night and that was unsettling.
Perhaps that was the reality that they all had to deal with at the moment right?
Tamiko, who had been sitting at the other end of the table just yesterday, was not seated there anymore. If anything, he was seated next to Danny, who was always his solace as Kosta had already figured it out a few months back.
He looked defeated and unsure of what they were like and while he was tempted to return his father’s greeting Tamiko didn’t see anything good about the morning. It was cold and filled with so much pain.
There was the heaviness and anger that lingered from last evening despite the way that they had managed to gather here right now. Tamiko couldn’t even look at his erasthai, because he had nothing that he could spell out to Kosta this morning.
He was already feeling like shit now that his erasthai had chosen to mask that beautiful caramel scent. Tamiko knew that it was the kind of response that screamed denial and lack of assurity and Tamiko couldn’t help the unease he was feeling right now.
His Kosta was scared, and instead of Tamiko being the shoulder Kosta could lean on, he had managed to be the one person that his erasthai wasn’t sure he could trust. That was an empty explanation for what Kosta was doing this morning.
But surely it wouldn’t be that hard for the both of them, no?
"You should start preparing for the mating ceremony unless the both of you want to reject each other," King Zaffuto said calmly like this was the most normal of things.
He didn’t seem to be bothered by the reactions at the stake, almost like he had expected this and there wasn’t a thing that could be changed about it. Maybe the king was losing his mind too, right?
Oh, but it was like a damned virus that they needed to eradicate because at this rate, the Lycan King would drive them all to the mental institutions and they wouldn’t be able to fight back.
"What?" Tamiko asked, choking on his food. It was like so many things were slowly losing meaning and gaining a different momentum and boy was that scary for the young prince.
He didn’t know what to expect from his father but it certainly wasn’t something like this. The tension that had been at the table shifted uncomfortably because of the king’s words.
Once again the awkwardness was back and Tao was sure that this would never go away. If Kosta rejected him he didn’t know what it would be like for him and he would be an untamable Lycan prince.
He didn’t want to be, but damn were the signs driving him in that direction.
"Can I please think about it?"
