Chapter 157: The Safety Pin That Hung Around
[KAWAI]
"You raised a bully and he is dead... Hanzo... not hurt. DEAD. That fucked up head of his won’t grow again, and if I were you, I would make the burial preparations instead of doing whatever it is you plan on doing.
"You might want to go to your king for the breath of life but I doubt the mad King would tolerate such bullies," Tamiko said as he looked right into Hanzo senior’s eyes like the man was really nothing to him.
Intimidation was not new to Tamiko and now with Danny away from this mess, Tamiko was ready for whatever the fuck the people of Kawai wanted to do with him, to him, or even around him. He just didn’t care and he was standing by his decision.
"What did you just say?" Hanzo senior asked the audacity of the young rogue applying him clearly. He had never met someone who held no remorse like Tamiko and that almost scared the man.
Everyone always kneeled before him seeing as he was one of the most important leaders of Kawai, but then if Tamiko couldn’t give a shit about his father, who the fuck was Hanzo senior then?
"You heard me clearly. Your son was a bitch who spent his life terrorizing the Lycans and judging by the way that everyone is reacting right now you played a key role in how they got to be.
"Now, you have three seconds to get out of my sight, or so help me goddess, I will have your head in the same state as that of your son," Tamiko said coldly and sincerely. He despised bullies and they disgusted him to the core.
Coming home, he had expected that there would be a revolt or something, but straight-up bullying was not what he had hoped for.
Granted, he didn’t know the first thing about home, but then surely home had to be better than the wolves who had made him suffer without an identity right? And even so, what was his identity right now?
"Seize him!" Hanzo shouted and the Kawai guards looked at each other wondering whether taking a stand against the one Lycan that the king had liked personally was a thing worth losing their lives for.
Sure, the king hadn’t shown them any signs of his irritability, but Zaffuto Hinata was still the monster they had all grown up knowing. He was still the devil who killed at every inconvenience and hells be damned if they did this just blindly.
If Tamiko had just been another rogue, he would have been in the dungeons, but right now, as the guards looked at each other, Tamiko was surprised to see none of them make a step forward.
It was almost like they were scared of something and Tamiko was intelligent enough to know this had to be because of his father. The same man he didn’t want to acknowledge was already protecting him without even having to lift a finger.
Was it ever going to be worth it though for the king then?
"Sire, we need a good enough reason to seize the king’s guest. You know that we cannot hold him in chains until he starts to make a run for it, that way we can have the reason to make sure he is right before you," one of the warriors said.
Hanzo senior stared at them with a look of disbelief and betrayal. He couldn’t believe that they were doing this to him, but then it wasn’t just he who was shocked.
Tamiko himself was staring at the warriors like they had grown new heads. If this had been Grealor, he would have already been thrown into the dungeons and gotten beaten up by as many warriors who were there as they could find.
He had long been the punching bag for Grealor and he wasn’t about to let himself be the punching bag in Kwai too. He didn’t care if that would put him on the wrong side of the fates, he wouldn’t let anyone hurt him again.
"This guest of your king... murdered my son in cold blood!" Hanzo senior said and the people who had gathered around stared sadly at the man who was still not in a position to mourn his son.
He was obsessed with justice for his son, just like any father would have been. It was understandable and their hearts shattered for the man with so much power and yet so powerless here with his own people.
This shouldn’t have happened, and maybe it would have been possible with the king still locked up in his chambers like he always was. But the king was no longer shutting himself out.
The king had already stepped out. He was around and no one wanted to be the first to cross Zaffuto Hinata, even in passing. That man was always full of vengeance and rage and he always got his vengeance, no matter how long it took.
"I didn’t murder him. I simply slapped him. It isn’t my guilt that a gentle slap got his head off his neck. Besides, I even did you a favor and burnt the body so you wouldn’t be haunted by the sight of your son’s shameless body lying there with its head on the other side, right?
"You should be thanking me for dealing with your abomination of a son, right?" Tamiko asked politely like this was just a normal conversation with the father of the man he had murdered.
He wasn’t even feeling pity for the man before him. Perhaps it was because Hanzo senior reminded him of alpha Ashton, the man who stood by and always watched as Gabriel did whatever the fuck he wanted to Tamiko.
The only time that Tamiko had seen the alpha take a stand was when Tamiko’s hair had been shaved off, but even that never gotta serve the lesson because they only treated him worse, while steering clear of his hair.
It was an agonizing past and to this day, it haunts Tamiko.
He knew he was safe in Kawai and he knew that he wouldn’t have to be alone here, but the fact that people already knew him as the Grealor outcast meant that they would try to fuck up his life again.
And that was a cycle he wasn’t ever going to be rated for. He wouldn’t live with himself if that ever happened.
"This little shit," Hanzo senior said as he grabbed Tamiko by the collar, ready to drag the young prince into whatever hell he had for him, but even that didn’t scare Tamiko. He still had a determination in his eyes that was stormy enough to make lives harder.
"Get your hands off of me, Hanzo, and take a few steps back if you don’t tata to join your son in the wind," Tamiko said softly, his tone soft but his words herald a determination and a promise that he intended to keep.
"You have no right!" Hanzo senior shouted as he raised his hand against Tamiko, ready to slap the young prince. The crowd around them was antsy as they waited to see what would come of this.
However, before Hanzo could land the hit on Tamiko, gasps were heard around them as blood suddenly sputtered onto Tamiko’s face, making Tamiko freeze for a moment, lost in his mind, until a familiar calming scent engulfed him.
"I believe my erasthai said something, Hanzo."
