Chapter 146: Twas Never About Angels
[GREALOR]
"You’re right. The king is a strategist in all matters of power, but he is not accustomed to emotions let alone what it takes to be around his son. At this point, he is still trying to figure things out, otherwise, he wouldn’t have come to a mere werewolf pack.
"He is the Lycan king, and he can outsmart us like that. But as a father, he won’t ever be able to think that fast. So, we use that to our advantage," Alpha Ashton spoke as he wheeled in on his chair.
He was still nursing the wounds from his last encounter with his son and he hoped that going forward his son wouldn’t have any more tantrums.
Of course, there was the chance that he begged the Lycans and Zula to fix him up, but the damage that Tamiko had done to him was so extensive that no one would ever be able to patch him up.
The Alpha wolf never walked, and maybe that fueled his hatred even for the Hinata family. Funny how he had been the one who went to the Lycan kingdom and made sure to steal an heir for his mother who didn’t even hold him.
It was a curl thing that Ashton did and karma would soon come knocking.
"Do you even hear yourself, father? You want us to create distance between the father and the son? How the fuck are we supposed to do that? Igor Konstantin is there to translate the world to the Lycan king?" Gabe asked in confusion.
He knew Tamiko and while Tamiko had tried to downplay the god he had with his father; Gabriel Grealor was intelligent enough to know that that wasn’t the kind of shit he could buy into.
The father and son were the craziest set of people to exist and nothing that they did would ever be easy for anyone to relate to.
They were people who never just woke up and acted, and while there was a possibility that Zaffuto Hinata didn’t truly understand what it meant to have a son and someone other than Lord Sadako, there was also a very high chance that the mad king was just playing with the pawns on his chess board to see who would try and tack him first.
Was that a risk that Gabriel and Ashton were willing to take? Would it ever be worth it when the sun went down and people went home to sleep?
Would they even have a home to rest their hands on or would they be on the run just like the king had sworn to burn down all the wolves involved in his son’s pain? Oh, but it was a lot to deal with and they could only hope for this world.
"You worry too much, son. There isn’t a thing that the king wouldn’t do for his son, he is a father after all. Trust in that at least," Alpha Ashton said and Zakhar stared at his best friend and then at his Alpha.
He wasn’t sure how the hell they had become the monsters, but all he could think of was the fact that once upon a time, they were just happy and didn’t have to worry about anything.
The universe had changed a lot of things and they had to accept that simple yet comprehensive fact. It was one that would forever haunt them and they had to be ready for whatever happened.
"Where is your beta?" Alpha Ashton asked as he looked around. He knew these meetings were essential and the only weak link they could use to exploit Tamiko if they failed with his father, was Danny.
The young beta had lost a lot in the hands of his best friend and regardless of what the universe dictated, he had been bound to be angry and filled with hate for what had happened. But was that all there was to this?
Was that what Danny wanted or was it just to be left alone because he didn’t care to take a side given both sides had fucked him up big time over the years?
"He left. His depression is fucking him up. Don’t worry about it, at least he knows what will happen if he tries to mess with us," Gabe said confidently and Alpha Ashton looked at his son, unsure whether Gabriel was an idiot or he was just born dumb like that.
The only person they could use was slowly fading from their grasp and his son seemed to have no idea what that would be like for them all.
"Alright then. Get the warriors ready, and make sure no one goes into the woods, because there’s a chance they won’t be back. The Lycan king is a protective father and he will kill first and ask questions later, especially if he sees the wolves who made his son’s life a living hell.
"Use that to your advantage, meanwhile I will be in my changers thinking of ways to separate the father and the son. That could be our only play right now," Alpha Ashton said and Gabe just nodded as his father held out with Zuka, leaving him and Zakhar in the office.
Things were getting complicated, a little more than Gabriel had anticipated.
It was unsettling in one too many ways and he was scared deep down of what would happen. Gabriel knew Tamiko was coming for his head and everyone who had taken part in bullying him or even making his life a living hell.
And that was technically the entity of Grealor, which meant that they had to be very careful and ready to sight at the first sign of war.
"This is not going to be easy, Gabe. We don’t have Judd and your father is stuck in a wheelchair. Our warriors have been demotivated since Galya was murdered; and with Danny keeping his diatonic, we are fucked.
"If the crazy Tamiko were to attack us now, we wouldn’t have a great defense. We would be helpless, and that is not okay," Zakhar said and Gabe sighed. He had been thinking about this the entire team and he still couldn’t find answers.
Maybe he and his father would be able to think and figure out a way to make sure that Tamiko and his father didn’t mess up the home they had known for the longest time.
It was a risk, but they were warriors, and risks were things that they had to get used to over the years, so it wasn’t supposed to be as hard, but damn was it going to be hectic.
"I know, but we only have to hope. Besides, if we don’t try shit with them, they won’t try shit with us until they declare war, right?" Gabe asked hopefully.
He knew it was not an easy feat to go against the Lycan warriors and their mad king. But then he was out of options, he couldn’t think of any other reason for this to be as fucked up as it would probably out if the Lycans came for war.
"Alpha, everyone is with their weapons waiting for your command to attack Tamiko," one of the warriors rushed into Gabriel’s office, making the young Alpha stare at him incredulously. This was nothing he had done so it didn’t just make any sense to him.
"I’m sorry, what now?" Gabe asked as he looked at Zakhar, his chief enforcer. Zakhar would have been the one to command the Grealor army and get the people to pick up arms, and Gabe could have sworn his best friend had been with him the entire time.
"The mind links... You said we need to be ready to attack Tamiko and we are ready," the warrior said and Gabe stopped closer to his window, only to see the sight that he had never thought possible.
The people were ready to fight for their hm and defend it, which was admirable and all, but he had given that command. None of them had tried to associate with the warriors or even give directives, which begged the question of what the fuck was happening.
"Holy shit. Tell them to wait for my next command," gab said and the warrior nodded before he rushed back to the entire battalion. However, as Gabe was still trying to piece things up, he saw his warriors head to the woods, cheering to ambush Tamiko.
"What the hell is going on?"
"Only one person in the entire realm can control all species."
"King Zaffuto."
"He wants a war?"
"Go, son. Go beg Tamiko if you have to, but make sure that battle doesn’t begin!"
