Chapter 141: Some Days Were Tense But They Were Lovely?
Hi!
[TAMIKO]
In silence, Danny prepared the evening meal for Tamko, while his father and his erasthai watched like they had never throughout this was ever possible.
They couldn’t be blamed though, because they hadn’t expected that Danny would be that protective of Tamiko even after what had happened between them. There was a lot that the two men needed to unpack but at the moment it was more than obvious that they were trying their best to interact peacefully.
That in itself was still a wonder, because if the tables had been switched and Tamiko was the one who lost in the hands of Danny, there would have been more blood than food on her. Perhaps this was them just trying to work things out, right?
"Can I—" Tamiko asked when Dannya was done cooking. He wanted to help set the table, but Danny was not even paying attention to him. As a matter of fact, he carried everything to the table himself, while the Lycans watched in worry.
They weren’t sure if they were getting scolded right now or if there was a time ticking bomb that was about to blow in their faces. The fact that they were in Grealor with the pack beta was something else, because Danny had the power to make everyone come after Tamiko.
Sure, there would be lots of warriors lost and there would be hate and deserved pain at that. But it was all just part of the uncertainties that filled the madness.
This wasn’t the kind of life they had hoped for at this point, but hey it wasn’t like there was more that they could work around, right? Shit was hitting the fan anyways so the least they could do was try and make the best out of the time they had, no?
"Eat. And not a word from you," Danny said once the table was set. He was glaring at Tamiko who was staring at him in curiosity. It was almost like Tamiko had something to say but Danny Wasn’t having any of it.
"I don’t poison it, don’t worry. I would never try to kill you," Danny said in reassurance, even though Tamiko didn’t quite need it because he was immortal.
Danny also knew that Lycans were immortal, but his words were the reminder Tamiko needed to know that he was never going to be alone in his fight no matter what happened along the way.
It was a long gamble for him, but here and now, maybe he just had to listen and eat, right?
"I know," Tamiko let out slowly, before he began eating.
He could feel all three sets of eyes on him and while he wished he could disappear, he couldn’t help but hope that someday in the future, they would be seated at a familiar table with the rest of their friends and family.
Tamiko hoped that when all of this was done and dusted, his best friend would still share the same tab with him. He cared for Danny and Kosta knew that too.
Perhaps that’s why they all did what Danny wanted did despite how crazy it sounded for the mighty dark king to take orders from a mere werewolf. This was a lot for the history books and it would be worth it right, right?
"Chief Konstantin and I will take an early night," King Zaffuto stated after a long tense dinner.
He could tell that the way more to the two kids in front of him and a lot that they wanted to work through. They were probably things that didn’t need the high-ranking Lycans with them despite the relationship that boomed.
"But—" Tamiko began only for Danny to interrupt him again.
"Please... don’t take an early night because of me. I just came to make sure my little brother was eating, and now that he is, I shall be taking my leave now," Danny said as he got up like that was what he intended from the beginning.
There was no denying that, but at the same time, there was more that they both needed to work on. It wasn’t what happened on a daily, and the mad king was never one to leave the first.
It was always his table that people got scared to even near, and yet with these two kids, he felt like he could see himself and Sadako in Tamiko and Danny.
Their friendship was obvious and the king knew that because he may or may have not read through Danny’s mind like a book, and the intentions that the boy had for his son.
At the same time, King Zaffuto may or may not have gone through the history of beating Danny and Tamiko to the point that he was sure that the world could end and Daniel Belova would still remain loyal to his son.
It was something the king took pride in and whether he knew it or not Danny was a welcome member in the Hinata household.
"It’s alright, Daniel. You and my son seem to have a lot of catching up to do. The chef and I will get out of your hair. Make sure you don’t burn down the house though; it would be a shame for such a beauty to be reduced to rubbles because of the tensions between the two of you," King Zaffuto said, making Tamiko stare at his father disbelievingly.
The way the king was talking so casually with Danny made Tamiko’s heart warm. He had never thought he would ever get to see the day when he introduced his best friend to his father;
...And when he had killed Galya and Danny’s father, Tamiko had been certain that the bridge that kept them together had been burnt. Funny how fate worked, because right now, there was nothing like resentment or uncertainty between the two of them.
His father being here was also something that dressed like a beautiful dream for the young outcast. Perhaps it was by far the best of dreams Tamiko had ever had, right?
"I lit a bonfire out there for you, my soul. If you both want to sit around the fur, it’s set. Don’t worry about the perimeter. There is a protective barrier to keep everything you don’t want out, alright. Goodnight, my beautiful," Kosta said as he kissed Tamiko on the lips.
"Looks like you’re stuck with me, Danny," Tamiko said as his father and his erasthai left the room. He was staring at the food his best friend had prepared and the empty used plates on the table.
Danny had prepared a lot, almost like Tamiko had spent his entire life fasting. It was somewhat hilarious yet the care he was showing was also still a reminder to Tamiko that regardless of what they went through, they would always find home in each other.
"I could say the same... you wanted to leave so bad, yeah? Well sorry it’s just me here," Danny said, his tone devoid of any mockery or negativity. He was earnest, like this was just what they had been both. Like this was just them as always, but was it?
"I’m sorry," Tamiko said.
"I intruded in your space. I should be the one saying sorry because look where it got us," Danny said before he let out an emotionless laugh like he couldn’t believe this was really what they had been reduced to.
"No, Danny. I’m sorry about what I did to Galya and your dad," Tamiko stated apologetically.
"I know."
