Vengeance of The Broken Lycan Prince [BL] -
Chapter 140: Perhaps In Another Microcosm
Chapter 140: Perhaps In Another Microcosm
[TAMIKO]
Listening to his best friend, Tamiko felt pride and sadness gush over him with equal measure. He wasn’t sure what Danny was aiming for at the moment, but the sincerity of the emotions in his voice made Tamiko want to lean into the hope that they were fine.
Granted, Tamiko was sure nothing would ever be the same between them because he had killed Dalya and their father, but he hoped that all would be well.
It was a leap of fate and not even faith, because sometimes even faith took a step back to let fate do its thing. Tamiko wanted to pull Danny into a hug, but he couldn’t.
He wanted to hold onto Danny but he also couldn’t because there was no telling where they stood with each other. Was it hate? Or still, love? Was Danny’s defense of him something he was pretending about or was it genuine?
Oh, how Tamiko had so many questions, even as Kosta stood aside to let the two talk.
"What do you want, Danny?" Tamiko asked at the same time that Danny spoke worriedly.
"You look thin, little brother, are you okay?"
If there was anything the young Lycan prince had expected from his former best friend, this was never it, because of the rift that Tamiko had clearly drawn between them. However, despite all that, the young prince couldn’t help but wish they were okay.
Danny had been his best friend for the longest time. Danny had truly cared for him even when he thought he was undeserving. Danny had nursed him to health when he was weak and didn’t even know that he had Lycan powers.
The young Belova had been there for Tamiko through thick and thin.
He was always ready to defend Tamiko, and if Tamiko hadn’t stopped Danny from getting into fights for him all the time, they both would have either been kicked out of the pack, or they would have been deemed as misfits in the pack.
But even with the chaos, Danny hadn’t stepped back. He still was scared for Tamiko, even when he knew Tamiko despised him for the truths they all knew about him. It was not fair.
"Are you eating well? Are you okay? I see you completed the mate bond... Did you eat well after your first night? My goodness, what did I always tell you about mate bonds? You should have taken care of yourself.
"You should have eaten well... the Lycan King has magic, right? He can cook, no? I mean he should make up for the past years you suffered while he hid in his castle. Do you have any food, or will the barbarian go hunt for food?
"Why did you let yourself be like this, brother. I thought we had an agreement to never let go regardless of how things came up? How the fuck are you supposed to fight the powerful in Grealor like this?
"How are you supposed to come after me for being the beta of this cursed pack? You can’t fight if you’re weak. Come, I’ll make you food," Danny said, as he dragged Tamiko back into the house, where the king was.
He didn’t care that all of this seemed like a shit show. The only thing he cared about was his brother getting food. Tamiko should have resisted, but frankly, Tamiko didn’t know what ton feel.
He couldn’t resist, because Danny dragging him like this reminded him of the times Danny would drag him to their house to eat. He had shared their food and yet still murdered his father.
What the fuck kind of reality was that and what was Tamiko supposed to make of it anyway? All of this was stressing the young prince out so badly, but he wanted to see what could happen.
So he didn’t fight Danny’s hold on him, or even his Erasthai’s soft stares that reassured him that he was safe.
Hell, Tamiko wasn’t even sure of what to tell his father, when they walked in and Danny came to a stop, standing right before Tamiko, like he was shielding Tamiko from his father. That got the king curious.
"King Zaffuto Hinata," Danny stated as he pushed Tamiko a little back, almost like he was not sure he could trust the mad king to be himself at the moment.
"You know me," the king said, his voice empty.
"Of course I do. Who the fuck do you think left all the clues for Lord Sadako to piece up and find Tamiko?" Danny felt angry before adding, "My apologies to Your Majesty. I didn’t mean to come off as rude. What I mean is, that everyone knows you. You’re the Lycan king."
"What’s your name, kid?" King Zaffuto asked as he got up from the seat and walked over to where Danny was standing between him and his son. The king could see the defiance in the young wolf’s eyes and he remembered seeing the same in Tamiko’s eyes.
His son had been through shit and it was obvious with the way the young wolf was shielding Tamiko, almost like he didn’t want Tamiko to be hurt. The king wanted to say he didn’t mean harm to Tamiko, but he couldn’t, not yet, because his son didn’t trust him fully.
"Daniel Belova," Danny said, his head held high like he was telling the king he wouldn’t fall back when it came to Tamiko.
Frankly, Tamiko was still too conceited to even get between his father and Danny.
He could only hope King Zaffuto didn’t do something stupid to Danny, because then they would have a real problem and Tamiko would probably kick his father out of Grealor anyway.
"It’s an honor to meet you, Daniel," King Zaffuto said as he extended his right hand towards Danny, as if he was going for a greeting or even a handshake.
It was probably a lot, but the king was smart enough to know that Danny may have been weak compared to him, but the little wolf was more than willing to face anything for Tamiko.
It was like the beta was a warrior for his son and the king couldn’t fight that. He couldn’t come between that, no matter how things got.
He had looked into Danny’s eyes, and he had seen what he had seen in Sadako when he had first met Sadako and even ended up being friends with his Lord at the moment. There was a fierce loyalty in Danny’s eyes and the king respected that.
"My brother is hungry. Could you and the barbarian please go hunting while I start a fire. And before you think I want to betray him, don’t think too much. I wouldn’t dare hurt my brother.
"Besides, he knows that if he feels unsafe around me, he can kill me and I wouldn’t fight him," Danny said casually like he was talking about the weather and not how high the stakes are around him.
He was technically commanding a king and his Lycan chief like it was the most normal thing anyone had ever done.
"What?" Tamiko asked, peeking from behind Danny, like he hadn’t heard the man right. There was just no way the wolf was making a request to the mighty mad king, a man so insane the realm was scared of every mention of his name.
"Could you please," Danny said as he looked right into the king’s eyes.
"Of course, Daniel. Chief Konstantin and I would be honored to go hunting for the young prince. We’ll be back soon," the king said and it was Kosta’s turn to be shocked.
However, that didn’t last because the king portaled him and Kosta out of the house, leaving Tamiko and Danny standing in the room like shit wasn’t already awkward enough.
Then again, they couldn’t be blamed because this was all happening just a little too fast for the both of them. One moment they were friends and the next they were ruining each other’s lives indirectly.
It was a cruel world they lived in, and they both knew it.
But would they ever be able to make it through without causing too much trouble?
"You’re crazy, you know that, right?" Tamiko said as he stood in front of Danny who just stared at him softly. It was almost like the past year didn’t happen to them and they were simply just the best of friends in the realm.
Unfortunately, there really had been a time skip.
"I know you hate me, but you should have at least eaten if you were coming back to burn Grealor down, you know."
