Chapter 138: Had A Chance, Fucked It Up
[TAMIKO]
King Zaffuto stared at his son in silence, like he was waiting to see what Tamiko would do or even want him to do. He already hated everything werewolf and if his son let him take over the king would torture everyone in Grealor and reduce them to ashes.
But a part of him knew that that wouldn’t be the best thing because this was Tamiko’s vengeance, not to mention the fact that the king had decided to be there for his son, even if he had to be ornamental.
He didn’t mind, because as long as his son was unharmed and could handle himself without any hitches, he would be as ornamental as his Kaito wanted him to be.
However, at the first instance that someone dared to hurt his Kaito, the king would reign all hell into the flame and he wouldn’t even be stopped by his brother.
"Looks like I have to say hello," Tamiko said calmly before he turned to Kosta, held his Erasthai’s hand, and walked out of the house. The king wanted to go out with them but he stopped himself.
He was learning to be a patient father, sure, but damn was it so hard for him. This felt like the worst case of torture and it was worse than even walking the long road from Kawai to wherever his son was.
However, he had to remind himself that he was here for his son and not to be the bastard who ruined everything for Tamiko. He wouldn’t do that. So once again, the king stayed still, only listening and seeing through the walls.
He couldn’t go out, but he could see through everything. And he hoped the young Grealor wasn’t as stupid to try and fuck his son up. With that in mind, the king masked his scent once again because he couldn’t let anyone know he was here... just yet.
"What do you want, Gabriel? Last I checked this was my space. Is living in a mansion so difficult for you that you want to live with me in the woods?’’ Tamiko asked boredly and Kosta just stood there like a guard dog ready to pounce on Gabriel if the man so much as thought of trying shit with Tamiko.
"You’re so bold to come back here. Weren’t you loved enough by daddy dearest or did he finally realize that a little shit like you isn’t worth the fight?" Gabe asked and Tamiko just smirked at him like he knew something that Gabriel didn’t.
"For someone desperate to talk about daddies, are you sure you know what yours is up to? Or did getting him off the power table make you the dumb little insecure bitch you’ve always been?" Tamiko asked calmly.
It was like he was making casual conversation and frankly, it was unsettling to some extent. Hell, even the king who was watching from a distance stared in amusement and pride like he had created the best of devils out there.
But was that what they wanted for the kid he had hoped to find?
"Look, get out of here. No one wants you in Grealor. You have caused enough trouble. You’ve humiliated us enough times. Isn’t that enough for you? Besides, you will never be one of us.
"You will never belong in Grealor and the sooner you understand that the sooner you should leave. Perhaps the Kwai monsters don’t also want you," Gabe said as he tried to bite back the desire to jump Tamiko and kiss him.
Gabriel had never expected Tamiko to come back looking like he was the hottest warrior out there. After the mating ball in Kawai, Gabe had gone through lots of things and he had wanted to share it with anyone.
He had stayed indoors and run the pack from behind a desk. He had blamed himself for a lot of things and yet each time he tried to blame Taniko for them, he found himself defending Tamiko.
He knew Tamiko was right to want to burn them down, and he hated that his heart still beat for Tamiko even after the fucked-up rejection.
And now standing here with Tamiko so close, Gabe felt his heart shattering and yet beating for Tamiko and at the same time, he wanted Tamiko in ways that he couldn’t ever be able to voice.
The young Grealor Alpha despised the reality that Tamiko was never going to be his. Lycans only ever had one mate and they stayed loyal to their mates until their last breath; they never once broke the vow.
Gabriel hated himself for losing Tamiko to the barbarian. He despised himself for pushing Tamiko to the impossible limits. He hated the fact that he had been the reason Tamiko had ended up with a bigger and hotter mate.
It haunted the hell out of him, and there wasn’t a thing he could do. But right now, staring into Tamiko’s eyes, Gabe wished he could close the distance between them.
"I am the outcast, Gabriel. There is nothing you can do for me that you didn’t do the past twenty-five years. Now if you will excuse us, I am going to enjoy the evening with my erasthai as you can see," Tamiko said and Gabe felt a pang in his heart.
It was driving him crazy really, how he had managed to make the greatest loss that the realm had ever seen. He would never recover from this, not that it would matter to anyone at the moment, right?
"Leave. I came here to warn you. The last time you were here, you fucked up the Belova family and more. Don’t think we will take that sitting peacefully. If you know what’s best for you, then leave," Gabe said and Tamiko felt like there was more to that.
He could all that Gabriel didn’t want him to leave. He could see the soft eyes that had always been meant for him and only him. Tamiko was certain that if their past and there were such a despicable series of cruel events, they may have ended up together.
Well, right now he was with Kosta and he loved Kosta with all of him, he wouldn’t risk that for a mere Gabriel Grealor.
"The Grealor rules demand that traitors be murdered, Gabriel. Galya betrayed me. The beta betrayed me. I only did what the rules demanded. I know you have never been one to read the rules;
"... but did it ever occur to you that the first rule in the Golden Werewolf book demands that wolves never provoke Lycans? Or was that something you knew but refused to acknowledge?
"You played the game of power with me for all those years, Gabriel. You messed up, you ruined my life and I will never let you forget that. Now if you’re done with your minions, leave, because you might lose Zakhar too," Tamiko warned.
The warriors let out growls while Tamiko smiled at them toothily like this was the nicest he could ever get with them. He was tired of the shit show, really and he wasn’t about to fuck things up between him and Kosta.
"Why you—" Gabe began only to pause when he saw Kosta gently smash his lips against Tamiko’s.
The barbarian was reminding Gabe of a claim, and if Gabe was smart he would listen.
But did he?
