Chapter 137: Perhaps Home Wasn’t So Bad?

[TAMIKO]

King Zaffuto was a strangely happy man, given the current circumstances. He had found his son and had seen Tamiko be happiest with Kosta. He had seen his son be ready to fight wars for the Lycan chief and that was something that even he had to appreciate.

He had never imagined it would be possible and yet his son was here redefining everything. Oh, he was proud. However, even in his pride, the king knew he needed to protect his son.

Sure, Tamiko would let the skies fall before he went easy on his father, but that was just a risk Zaffuto had to take. He had reminded himself over and again that he deserved every expressive rage from his son and he wasn’t going to deflect.

His son deserved better and he would see to it.

"You don’t have to do this, Kaito. I’m fine with being whatever in your life. Hell, I’m fine if you want to deny me in front of the entire realm. I only worry that this might not be what you want, and I already fucked up once.

"I wouldn’t want to fuck up your life a second time, son," the king said when they finally pulled back. He had heard them mention Grealor and Sanji and while the king wanted to be disappointed, he knew he had no range to play the disappointed King right now.

Zaffuto had been away for long and he expected betrayal even from the people he once considered closest. If ever there came a day that Lord Sadako turned out to be a traitor, his world would crumble no doubt.

"Tamiko. My name is Tamiko," the young prince insisted and the king just nodded in understanding. He didn’t want to upset his son this late in the evening really and he was hoping that there would be better days for the both of them eventually.

"Baby..." Kosta called out softly as if to remind Tamiko that the enemy right now wasn’t his father, but the people who had the guts to threaten Tamiko with his identity as if that was supposed to make things all better for them.

"Fine... anyway, let’s get going yeah? There is no need for us to be staying here when the Grealor warriors are probably high on shit thinking they could beat me," Tamiko said as he looked at his father again, like he wanted to hear what the king had to say.

However, this time, the king stayed silent.

"Portals or we walk?" was all the king managed to say after they had packed up and burnt what they didn’t need. It was a shame to see the setup Tamiko and Kosta had made go up in flames, but at least it wasn’t about their memories anymore.

"Portals," Tamiko said, and his father created two portals and waited for them.

"They both lead to Grealor, don’t worry, son. I didn’t come this far to try and take over your battles. I’ll be a bystander this time, and will only act if you want me to. Go on, there are souls you need to punish before I begin my punishment for them," Zaffuto said.

Tamiko looked at his father softly, his heart almost shattering for the mad king everyone feared and yet one who was more than willing to bend over backward for Tamil even if it meant he would break his back in the process.

It was an unexpected relay and Tamiko wondered if there was ever a limit to his father trying to reach out.

Perhaps there was, but then a man who had stayed indoors for almost theory years because he was mourning his wife and the loss of his son, truly had nothing to worry about when it came to waiting.

Oh, he was a patient man and that is something Tamiko had already learned.

"You don’t have to walk separately from us, father. We are headed in the same direction anyways," Tamiko’s said dismissively, his acknowledgment of Zaffuto as his father, rolling off smoothly off his tongue.

Kosta had noticed it too, but it seemed like Tamiko hadn’t, however he wasn’t about to say that to the prince, a belief that both he and the king shared because King Zaffuto just nodded as he closed one of the portals.

"Alright, let’s get this show on the road," Zaffuto said as he waited for his son to go through the portal. Kosta went in first then Tamiko flowed, before the king went through with them, almost like he wanted to make sure his son didn’t stay behind.

He never had anything to be worried about to be protective of, other than Kawai itself, and right now, he had someone who made him want to pull all the stops just to see their smile. Perhaps it would all pay eventually, right?

The portal the king created and led them to the house Kosta had forced Gabe and his minions to build for Tamiko. They had found themselves in the house, and Tamio once again stared at his father as if to ask him how the hell he knew.

But then a man of the king’s stature and that much magic, was bound to know a lot of things not to mention he might have probably checked Kosta’s mind earlier when he was scouring for any and all information about his son.

He was a desperate father who wanted to know a lot about his son, and was worried about upsetting Tamiko by asking too many questions. So, it was understandable that he had done whatever he could to make sure his son was not in an unfamiliar place.

"For a place, we haven’t lived in for three months, it sure is clean as fuck," Tamiko pointed out, earning a chuckle from Kosta while his father just stood still like he was waiting to be told where he needed to be.

Oh, he was worried about upsetting his son and it was almost cute, if the king standing like an apple wasn’t a sight that no one wanted to see. But then the message was home either way because Tamiko just sighed lightly as he smiled at his father.

"Make yourself at home. There are enough rooms in this house," Tamiko said and the king breathed a sigh of relief. This was the first time his son’s tone was free of any scorn or even emotions that made the King feel like a dick for wanting to stick around.

"Thank you, son," King Zaffuto said as he took a seat on one of the couches and Kosta flinched at the action as if he was scared of something. Well, maybe he was right to beam because of the king’s intensified abilities.

The king would definitely tell that that was the couch they had their little engagement and had done probably worse on three. However, the king didn’t say a word. If anything, he sat like a dutiful guest who had just been welcomed.

Frankly, this side of the king scared the hell out of Kosta. He had never seen a clam Zaffuto and it made him wonder what was going on in the man’s mind. But then he just had to hold onto Tamiko, if he wanted to avoid awkward conversations, right?

"Fa—" Tamiko began only to be interrupted by familiar voices.

"You shouldn’t have come back here, you unwanted Lycan," Gabriel’s voice came through.

The Lycan king smirked.
