Chapter 343: Partner in Crime
Lian and Mei strode into the well lit dispensary, their presence commanding immediate attention. The pharmacist on duty, a middle-aged man with thinning hair and a nervous disposition, recognized them instantly. Normally, protocol required a visit to the infirmary first for a signed form, but the sheer intensity of their aura made him abandon all formalities.
"We need ointment, bandages, and anything else that can help," Mei demanded, her voice steady and authoritative.
The pharmacist’s hands trembled as he gathered the requested items, his eyes darting between the two formidable figures. Mei peered into the bag, her brows furrowing. "Is this even enough bandages?" she questioned, her tone sharp.
Lian leaned on the counter, her gaze piercing through the pharmacist. "Quite generous of you," she remarked, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Terrified, the pharmacist grabbed another handful of bandages and tossed them into the bag. "Thank you, kind sir," Mei said with a sweet smile, her demeanour shifting as they turned to leave. The pharmacist exhaled deeply, feeling as though his life had been spared.
The two skipped happily to the nearby store, their earlier intensity replaced by a playful energy. In the candy aisle, Mei reminded, "Master said one piece each."
Lian began grabbing one piece of each candy, filling the basket. Mei grabbed her wrist, "What are you doing?"
"Master said one piece each," Lian replied while holding up the candy.
Mei bit her lower lip, conceding, "You are probably right. Let’s get one piece each."
At the counter, the cashier eyed the basket filled with candy and four sports drinks, then looked up at the two alphas. "Is this for your partners?" she asked, curious.
"Ew, no," Lian responded bluntly.
Mei smiled politely, "Don’t mind her, it’s for us."
The cashier’s eyes widened slightly as she scanned the items. Lian opened a candy and began eating it, her gaze daring the cashier to judge her. The cashier felt a cold sweat trickle down her back, quickly scanning the rest without further comment. Mei paid with her communicator, "Thank you."
Lian handed the cashier another candy, "For you, thanks."
Surprised, the cashier stammered, "Uh, thanks."
Lian and Mei returned to the training arena, sneaking inside. Xiang Yu, about to take his turn, glared at them. "What took you so long?" he demanded, but his eyes widened at the sight of the bag they were hiding.
"I said one piece each," Xiang Yu reiterated.
Mei nodded, "You did say one piece each."
Lian held up the bag, "So, one piece of each."
Xiang Yu’s face darkened with frustration. "You know that’s not what I meant. I’ll deal with you when I’m done."
As soon as Xiang Yu left, Lian whispered, "What’s the probability we can run away and never get caught?"
Mei calculated quickly, "0.00001 per cent chance. We might as well eat as much candy as we can."
Lian grabbed a handful, "I am getting started. We have at least five minutes before he defeats that thing."
Mei agreed, sitting down to eat where the Lieutenant couldn’t see them. Han Xin, observing the scene, arched his brow in amusement.
Lian and Mei began to eat the candy like kids afraid their parents would confiscate their Halloween stash, stuffing their mouths with as much as they could. Just as they were about to unwrap the sixth wrapper, a loud thud echoed through the training arena. Xiang Yu had just defeated the humanoid robot set to his rank in under four minutes.
Lian and Mei froze, their eyes wide. The cadets waiting for their turns stood with their mouths agape as Xiang Yu walked towards the twins, his aura radiating dominance. Han Xin, though not looking directly, followed Xiang Yu with the corner of his gaze.
Xiang Yu grabbed the bag of candy from them. "Hope you ate as much as you could," he said, his tone stern.
Lian, "..."
Mei, "..."

Lian and Mei looked sullen, like children who had just been robbed of their treasures. After the training session, they couldn’t help but show off their battle scars. Mei pointed to a colourful bruise, "Look at mine, it looks so colourful."
Lian chimed in, "It chopped the back of my neck, and I saw stars."
Xiang Yu was about to tell them to stop messing around and head to the locker rooms when he caught sight of Han Xin walking away, his back straight. Xiang Yu took the shopping bag with the medicine and said, "I counted the candy in the other bag. If even one is missing, I will tell your grandpa to ground you for a week."
Lian and Mei whined, but Xiang Yu paid them no attention as he followed in the direction Han Xin had disappeared.
As soon as he was gone, Lian being the mischievous one, turned to Mei. "How about it, big sister Mei Mei? We can share one. I’m pretty sure Master didn’t count them."
Mei, having already been in trouble once because of Lian, shook her head. "No, why do you need to include me in your crimes?"
"Because we are twins, we commit crimes together," Lian said, acting cute. She held the corner of Mei’s clothes and began to put on an act. "Mei Mei, we can eat the caramel chocolate bar. I heard it feels like heaven in your mouth with a creamy, sticky explosion of flavours."
Mei almost drooled at the description but quickly came to her senses, shaking off the devil in her ear. "No, and if you take it, I will snitch."
Lian’s face fell. "..." It was over. Her partner in crime had abandoned her.

Xiang Yu sent a message to Han Xin telling him to wait for him when he was done.
After sending it he stepped into the shower first.
Soon he stepped out, his lean, muscular body glistening with droplets of water. He quickly got dressed and gathered his things before making his way to Han Xin’s private room.
As he approached the room, he sent another message asking if he could come in. Han Xin’s response was swift and concise. He replied with a single ’En’ that seemed cold and perfunctory but Xiang Yu didn’t seem to think so. With a quick scan of his communicator, the door slid open, revealing the imposing figure of Han Xin.
He stood tall, his back to Xiang Yu, dressed only in his uniform pants and a thin inner t-shirt that clung to his sculpted physique. His broad shoulders and defined back muscles were on full display, making Xiang Yu’s mouth go dry. He watched as Han Xin reached for his uniform shirt, his movements graceful yet powerful.
"I brought you some ointment," Xiang Yu said, his voice steady despite the turmoil swirling within him. He began to go through the things the twins bought. "You took a bad hit on your abdomen earlier so I had the twins go and get some medicine for you."
