Chapter 325: Cute and deadly
Xiang Yu had no idea that people where
watching him on the live stream with some licking the screen at his shirtless body and others saying, "How is Xiang Yu an alpha with that figure?"
Others said, "Why is an alpha as
alluring as an omega" and another said, "I am an alpha and I am in love with an alpha
Mum help."
Blissfully unaware he climbed the small hill, gear in hand, the viper’s hiss echoing ominously from below. As he reached the top, he spotted the creature, its three heads poised to strike. Xiang Yu cracked his plasma whip, the sound reverberating like thunder, a challenge thrown into the air.
He aimed for the base of the viper’s tail, where it had already been injured. At that moment, the spore sprinter from his pocket burst free, only to meet a tragic fate beneath the viper’s tail. "Bad luck," he muttered, focusing all his energy on the battle ahead.
The fight escalated each close call a reminder of the stakes at hand. With a final, decisive strike, Xiang Yu swung his plasma whip, severing the heads cleanly. The viper’s body convulsed violently before it plummeted off the cliff, the fight finally coming to an end.
Panting heavily, Xiang Yu surveyed the mangled corpse below, the adrenaline slowly fading. Suddenly, arms wrapped around his waist, and he turned to find Han Xin, unscathed but wide-eyed with worry.
"Baby, Are you okay?" Xiang Yu asked, anxiety flooding his voice.
Han Xin nodded, relief washing over him. Xiang Yu pulled him into a tight embrace, inhaling the familiar scent of him, whispering, "You had me scared for a moment." He closed his eyes, feeling the warmth of Han Xin’s embrace.
The world around him faded, and for a moment, he was lost in the comfort of the hug. The alert for the challenge time ending rang, but it was a distant echo in his mind, easily ignored. He tightened his hold, savouring the sensation.
"Master, who are you hugging?" Lian’s voice cut through the haze, pulling Xiang Yu back to reality.
Xiang Yu opened his eyes, ready to retort, "Can’t you see I am hugging your father?" But the words died on his lips as he realized he was clutching at empty air. His arms dropped to his sides, and a flush of embarrassment crept up his neck.
Mei’s voice chimed in, curious and slightly amused, "Why are you shirtless?"
Xiang Yu’s mind raced. The hallucination had been so vivid, so real, but he didn’t regret it. Not one bit. He stood there, shirtless, feeling the weight of the stares from the onlookers.
Lian picked up Xiang Yu’s discarded jacket while Mei blocked their view. Mei yelled, "What are you looking at?" her voice intimidating. Most of them hurriedly looked away pretending they didn’t see anything.
Only those who where stupid and brave continued to stare in his direction, their eyes filled with curiosity and confusion. What had happened in that simulation to make him take off his clothes?
"Master put it on. There are vultures all over the place," she said, her tone a mix of concern and urgency.
"Thanks," Xiang Yu muttered, taking the jacket and slipping it on. It looked the same as before he entered the simulation like it hadn’t been damaged at all.
The livestream had long ended, but millions of people were still chatting, their messages flooding the screen. They were waiting for more, but none came. Suddenly, Xiang Yu’s name and the word "baby" began trending on StarNet.
He stood up, his fingers trembling uncontrollably. It was a clear sign that he was on the verge of an outbreak. He clenched his fists, struggling to suppress the rising tide. He was so preoccupied that he didn’t notice Han Xin watching him from a distance.
Suddenly, a surge of intense, sharp nerve pain shot through Xiang Yu’s body, causing him to grimace. Lian and Mei, always attentive, noticed the change immediately. Lian leaned in and whispered, "Master, are you okay?"
Mei, already in panic mode, was contemplating how fast she could run to take Xiang Yu to the infirmary. Xiang Yu tried to comfort them, forcing a smile and saying, "It’s fine, it’s not bad."
But Hex, ever the dramatic one, screamed in his mind, ’Aaaahhhh, Yu Yu, you are about to have a breakdown! Where is that panacea of yours? He needs to do his job!’
Xiang Yu’s mind raced. "Don’t call him that," he reprimanded silently. Hex grumbled before saying, "Fine, I will keep my mouth shut."
Trying to distract them, Xiang Yu asked, "How did the challenge go? Did you kill all nine creatures?"
Lian nodded, "I did, but somebody didn’t."
Mei, knowing she was the "somebody," spoke up, "You should have seen it, it was so cute, I couldn’t kill it."
Lian rolled her eyes, "See, Master? Cute things are her weakness. This one was cute and deadly. You shouldn’t have let it go."
Mei shivered, recalling the pain of being bitten by the cute, gluttonous ball. She had run away in the simulator yelling, "You are too cute to kill," but it seemed the beady-eyed beast wanted all the smoke.
As soon as she came out of the simulator, Lian could already tell what had happened. Xiang Yu chuckled, and Mei, feeling self-conscious, said, "Master, it’s not funny. It bit off a chunk of my hair. If it was real, I would have a bald spot."
Xiang Yu couldn’t stifle his laughter anymore. He laughed outright, and Mei tried to cover his mouth. Lian, unable to help herself, laughed too, just imagining the scene. Mei tried to cover Lian’s mouth as well, saying, "Stop laughing."
Xiang Yu, still chuckling, said, "You would have taken it home, too, if you could."
Lian nodded in agreement, "Absolutely." Xiang Yu understood Mei’s feeling. He also had someone who was cute and deadly that he would love to take home with him.
Suddenly, Lieutenant Sian’s voice cut through the air like a blade. "Stand at attention!" Her gaze brushed past Xiang Yu, who immediately stopped laughing. Lian’s smile faded, and Mei ceased her pouting. The cadets snapped into formation, their movements sharp and precise.
Lieutenant Joel began his ritual of publicly displaying their results, a practice designed to both motivate and humiliate them. Xiang Yu took a deep breath as the wave of nerve pain subsided. He hadn’t even realized his forehead was laced with sweat, his body feverish.
He glanced at the floating screen displaying the results and rankings from the challenge. A swell of pride filled him as he saw Han Xin’s name at the top with a perfect score. When he looked down, he found his own name at number four.
Just then, Lieutenant Sian’s voice rang out again. "Your Highness, do you think the simulator is a bloody game? You could have been number two if it weren’t for you deliberately messing with the spore sprinter. Do you like hallucinating that much, huh? Hallucinate at your own time."
