Chapter 326: You look terrible.
Xiang Yu was a little surprised. He knew he would be seen, but he hadn’t expected the Lieutenant to pay such close attention to him. The cadets stifled their laughter, while Fang Aungier sneered. Han Xin remained impassive, his expression unreadable.
"Why are you all laughing?" Lieutenant Sian demanded. "His highness improved his rank from twenty-three, right near the bottom, to number four, yet you have the audacity to laugh. Have you no shame?"
The entire class fell silent, some casting envious glances in Xiang Yu’s direction. Lian was ranked number eight, and Mei at number twelve, mainly because she hadn’t killed the little cute fluff ball and had been bitten several times by it.
As soon as they were dismissed from training, Xiang Yu couldn’t bear it anymore. "I will be right back," he said to Lian and Mei, walking away before they could respond. They were about to follow when Lieutenant Joel stopped them.
"You two let’s talk," Joel said, his tone firm. Xiang Yu walked briskly to the private bathroom at the end of the corridor, his steps echoing in the empty hallway.
As soon as the door shut behind him, he doubled over and began to throw up, expelling the remnants of his lunch. When he was done, he felt utterly drained, devoid of strength. He leaned against the wall, his body slick with sweat, the pain coursing through him like fire.
With trembling hands, he pulled down the zip of his jacket, feeling as if he had been set alight. Desperate for relief, he decided to call the steward for something that might help.
Stumbling out of the bathroom, he leaned heavily against the sink, his knuckles turning white as he clenched his fists, trying to ride out the intense wave of pain. Eventually, it subsided, and he rinsed his mouth, splashing water on his face several times.
When he raised his head, he was startled to see Han Xin’s reflection in the mirror. Thinking he was hallucinating again, he abruptly turned his head, only to find Han Xin standing not far away. Xiang Yu was about to ask what he was doing there when Han Xin took a step forward.
"You look terrible," Han Xin said, his voice soft but firm.
Xiang Yu glanced at his reflection and felt a wave of embarrassment. He didn’t want Han Xin to see him like this. He tried to fix his hair, which was sticking to his forehead, but it was pointless.
He felt ugly, though in reality, he wasn’t. It was just his self-consciousness, especially after hearing those words from the man he cared about.
Han Xin extended a hand, holding a pack of nutrient supplement. "Here."
Xiang Yu looked down at the pack, his exterior calm, but inside, he was screaming with joy. He was happy that Han Xin was still considerate of him, even though their relationship was strained. "Thanks," he said, his voice hoarse. He cleared his throat and took the nutrient supplement.
Han Xin folded his arms and stared at him, a thoughtful expression on his face. He had finally figured it out. Everything about Xiang Yu, his politeness, his newfound strength, the way he carried himself, didn’t point to rebirth.
If Xiang Yu had truly been reborn, he would have either escaped or told his father everything that was coming. Han Xin’s real identity would have been exposed, and the Imperial Lord would have tried to kill him long ago. So if this wasn’t rebirth, who was this person who had taken over Xiang Yu’s life?
Han Xin was even more intrigued now, his curiosity piqued by the mystery that was Xiang Yu.
Xiang Yu unaware that he had been found out, he opened the seal of the nutrient supplement and took a sip. The discomfort in his stomach eased instantly, and his strength, which had been waning, was renewed. He heaved a sigh of relief, staring at the packet, trying to remember the brand for next time. Han Xin watched him intently, itching to pry open the layers of this person and uncover his secrets.
Suddenly, feeling a mischievous urge, Han Xin walked over and said, "You don’t have to go through the pain... I can help you."
Xiang Yu choked on the nutrient supplement in shock. Han Xin gently touched Xiang Yu’s shoulder, his hand sliding slowly down to pat his back. Xiang Yu froze, forgetting to cough. The strong, comforting scent emanating from Han Xin was entrancing.
"Your medicine can only give you temporary relief and doesn’t help to eliminate some of the symptoms," Han Xin said, leaning in closer. The scent grew stronger, clouding Xiang Yu’s thoughts. He closed his eyes, his Adam’s apple bobbing.
Han Xin’s voice was like a fox demon’s, trying to lure him into a trap and snatch his soul. "Just a bite, that’s all it takes."
Han Xin leaned back, anticipating that Xiang Yu would take the offer. But Xiang Yu calmed himself and said, "I don’t like forcing people."
Han Xin chuckled softly. "Just like that night."
Xiang Yu was at a loss. He had been beating himself up over that night. He couldn’t help himself, seeing how enthusiastic Han Xin was. In the previous world, they had just tossed around in bed, and he thought this was a continuation. Who would have thought that Han Xin had been injected with something and he was drunk on the intense scent in the room?
Seeing the look of guilt in Xiang Yu’s eyes, Han Xin was even more certain that this person wasn’t the original Xiang Yu. He reached out and gently pinched the ends of Xiang Yu’s hair. "Or maybe you just like forcing all those Omegas that come visit you often."
Xiang Yu’s mind screamed internally, "Aaaahhh, this pot can’t fall on my head, I didn’t." He wanted to defend himself, but no words came out. It was hard to think straight with that alluring scent filling the room.
Han Xin’s voice was calm and reassuring. "Don’t worry, I know you did nothing with them."
Xiang Yu relaxed a little. He could bear Han Xin distancing himself, but he couldn’t bear Han Xin misunderstanding him. Han Xin continued, " Though... I wonder what the Imperial Lord will do when he finds out that you have been putting up an act for him and that the only person you have touched is this lowly unworthy alpha." His fingers played with Xiang Yu’s hair, sending shivers down his spine.
"No, don’t tell him," Xiang Yu pleaded.
"I won’t tell him," Han Xin replied, "but it will cost you."
Xiang Yu wanted to ask what exactly was the price he would have to pay when Han Xin held up two inhibitors. "So how about it? Are you still going to bite, or would you rather take these?"
