Chapter 324: Baby, are you taking advantage of me?
Comments like "ohhh my, so shameless" "What a show-off" and "Who is this baby? I want to know pronto," "Baby, show yourself," and "I am baby, I just didn’t think that my man would hallucinate about me" flooded the screen. Lieutenant Joel saw these comments and couldn’t help but arch his brow. He was curious too. Who could this "Baby" be?
Xiang Yu’s face fell when he realized that his hallucination was fading. Han Xin’s face was becoming faint. "Wait, I will find it," he said, his voice tinged with desperation.
He looked around for the spore sprinter but couldn’t find it. It had probably run into its nest after seeing the shadow panther. Grabbing Han Xin’s hand, Xiang Yu started tracking it down.
People watching the live stream thought he was tracking the spore sprinter to kill it, but once he spotted it, he captured it by the mushroom head on its back. "Where do you think you are going?" he demanded.
The spore sprinter flared its legs and arms, trying to free itself, but it was pointless. Xiang Yu shook it until it was dizzy. The little creature couldn’t understand why someone would go against the script. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go. It finally released some spores, and Xiang Yu was satisfied.
"Let’s go, baby," he said to Han Xin, smiling so happily you would think he had won the lottery. The barrage of comments was filled with laughing emojis. Xiang Yu had caught a spore sprinter so he could keep having hallucinations as he completed the task.
With renewed energy, Xiang Yu looked like he had been injected with chicken blood. He killed a razorwing bird, a swamp stalker, and a jungle titan like it was nothing. The entire time, he was lugging around his imaginary sweetheart, protecting them as if they were real.
Just as he was coaxing his "Baby" for a kiss as a reward, he sensed something big coming. He protected the imaginary Han Xin behind his back and raised his plasma rifle but saw nothing.
The spore sprinter in his pocket was so terrified it tried to get out and run away. If Xiang Yu wanted to die, then he should die by himself. Why involve a poor spore sprinter like itself?
Xiang Yu stopped it, shoving it back into his pocket and zipping the pocket shut. The spore sprinter, "..." It’s expression seemed to say, "I am deadly creature, not a fucking pet." It burrowed deep into his pocket and tried to bite its way through the fabric.
Xiang Yu’s senses were on high alert. He scanned the dense jungle, his eyes sharp and focused. The air was thick with tension, and the sounds of the jungle seemed to fade into the background. He could feel the presence of something massive, something dangerous.
In the observation room, Lieutenants Sian and Joel furrowed their brows. This beast was never supposed to be included in single-combat training. It was meant for team-building exercises, yet now it was right there, part of Xiang Yu’s simulation.
The creature was an acid-spitting nightmare. It was a three-headed viper with iridescent scales and glowing eyes. Its skin shimmered with a greenish hue, providing excellent camouflage in the dense jungle foliage. Each of its mouths was equipped with long, sharp fangs and specialized glands that produced a highly corrosive acid.
Its tail was prehensile and barbed, used for both balance and as a secondary weapon. The viper could project a stream of acid up to ten meters away, potent enough to burn through flesh, metal, and most organic materials.
Xiang Yu smiled, finding it amusing. Even he could tell this creature wasn’t supposed to be on the roster. Regardless, he was going to slaughter it ruthlessly. Han Xin was counting on him to protect him.
The viper’s three heads swayed menacingly, its glowing eyes fixed on Xiang Yu. The air was thick with tension as the beast hissed, its scales shimmering in the dappled sunlight filtering through the jungle canopy. Xiang Yu’s grip tightened on his plasma rifle, his eyes narrowing as he assessed the threat.
When he saw what it was he glanced back at Han Xin, his heart racing. "Run!" he commanded, his voice a mixture of urgency and determination. The moment he turned back, the viper emerged, its five-meter length coiling with an eerie elegance, its scales shimmering with the jungle’s hues, rendering it almost invisible.
Xiang Yu activated his thermal vision, the world around him igniting in a spectrum of heat signatures. The viper’s serpentine body flickered into view, a deadly mirage ready to strike. He fired his plasma rifle, the bolts of energy slicing through the air, but the viper was quick, dodging with a grace that belied its size. Suddenly, it launched a stream of corrosive acid toward him, but Xiang Yu was quicker, his reflexes honed to a razor’s edge as he ducked and rolled.
In a heartbeat, he reappeared on its back, plasma grenades in hand. He hurled them with precision, the explosives detonating in a conflagration of light and sound. The viper writhed, its heads snapping wildly, but Xiang Yu didn’t falter.
He activated his plasma whip, the crackling energy slicing through the humid air, aiming for the three heads that threatened to unleash havoc.
But the viper was cunning. With a swift flick of its barbed tail, it struck Xiang Yu with brutal force, sending him crashing into a tree trunk. Pain lanced through his body, blood trickling from the corner of his lips as he struggled to regain his bearings. Just as he began to rise, he spotted Han Xin charging toward him, concern etched on his face
"Leave me, go!" Xiang Yu shouted, but his warning was drowned out by the viper’s roar. In an instant, its jaws opened wide, acid glistening at the ready, aimed straight for Han Xin as if it could see him but in truth it could see Xiang Yu’s reaction and acted accordingly. Time slowed as Xiang Yu’s instincts kicked in.
With a burst of adrenaline, he lunged, pulling Han Xin out of harm’s way. But the acid splashed across his arm, searing through fabric and flesh. They tumbled together, crashing into the underbrush before finally coming to rest behind a boulder
Han Xin’s eyes widened in horror as he saw the burn spreading on Xiang Yu’s arm. "Take off your jacket!" he urged, panic lacing his tone
With a smirk, Xiang Yu complied, teasing, "Baby, are you taking advantage of me?" The live-stream audience erupted in a flurry of baffled and screaming emojis, their reactions echoing the absurdity of the moment.
Shirtless now, his skin glowing under the jungle’s dim light, Xiang Yu took Han Xin’s jacket, noting the way the fabric contrasted against his skin. He leaned in, pressing a quick kiss to Han Xin’s lips, "You are always so considerate."
The viewers watched in disbelief, laughing at the prince who seemed blissfully unaware of the spectacle he created. Xiang Yu thought he was wearing Han Xin’s jacket but he was actually shirtless. He thought he was kissing Han Xin but he was kissing air.
