Chapter 310: Get in the car

Xiang Yu had to go to the Military Academy today. He was in his final year, and so was Han Xin. Normally, The original Xiang Yu would have Han Xin serve him and help him get ready in the morning, but Xiang Yu didn’t plan on doing that. He had the steward send someone who wasn’t Han Xin to bring his freshly pressed uniform to his bedchambers.

The steward sent a young man with the clothes, who knocked on the door. "Come in," Xiang Yu said, and the young man walked in with his uniform. He bowed, saying, "Your Highness, I brought your clothes."

Xiang Yu walked into the bedroom from the bathroom and said, "Place it on the bed." He stood in front of the mirror and fixed his hair while the young man laid the uniform down. When the young man raised his head, he saw that Xiang Yu was shirtless. He panicked and lowered his head before saying, "Your your Highness, would you like anything else?"

Xiang Yu said, "No, you may leave. Thanks."

The young man bowed before running out of the room like his feet had oil at the bottom. When he reached the staff dining area where the others were having breakfast, the young man appeared flustered. His friend said, "Xiao He, what’s wrong with you?"

The young man called Xiao He patted his hot cheeks, unable to find his voice for a moment. Another of his friends said, "Didn’t the steward send you to the Crown Prince just now?"

Xiao He’s face, which had reduced its blush, heated up again, and he said, "I just came back from there."

The other friend asked, "Did His Highness scold you?"

Xiao He waved his hands in refusal and said, "No, not at all. He was so nice, he even said thanks."

The other nosy friend said, "Really?"

Xiao He said, "Yeah, he is not only nice but he is also handsome, let me tell you." Xiao He leaned in closer and covered his mouth so others couldn’t hear what he was about to whisper.

The other two leaned in to listen. Xiao He whispered something and the three of them chuckled, only for the sound of a mug hitting the table to startle them. They were afraid that someone had heard them talk about Xiang Yu’s naked upper body. They looked over and saw that it was Han Xin.

Xiao He said, "Han Xin, what are you being arrogant for?"

The young woman who was Xiao He’s friend chimed in, saying, "Yeah."

The other friend said, "Don’t mind him; some people still act arrogant even when they fall out of favour."

Han Xin had already walked to the door, but he heard what they said clearly. He ignored them and walked out with a cold sneer. He didn’t want this so-called favour and would prefer someone else to be taken advantage of and have their face on a body pillow.

He strode towards the exit of the palace, intending to order a ride to the Academy. Although they might be going in the same direction, he and Xiang Yu never travelled together. Xiang Yu despised sharing a hovercar with him. Just as he was about to step out of the palace, a hovercar door opened, and the steward stopped him.

"His Highness asked that we organize a ride for you," the steward said.

Han Xin replied coldly, "No need," and walked past the hovercar towards the entrance of the palace. Just as he reached the gates, he saw Peng Xiu step out of a hovercar and beckon him over as if she had been waiting for him. Han Xin didn’t really want to go with her, but how was he supposed to refuse? Just as he was thinking of an excuse, a hovercar stopped right in front of him.

The window rolled down, revealing Xiang Yu’s handsome side profile. Xiang Yu had his head lowered slightly, his body exuding so much charm like a playboy as he adjusted his cuff. For a moment, Han Xin was mesmerized by the sight, but the moment was fleeting.

"Get in the car," Xiang Yu said, his tone soft but his words leaving no room for negotiation.

Han Xin hesitated, but his curiosity about what Xiang Yu was plotting got the better of him. He agreed and waved at Peng Xiu, who stood there looking stupefied. Xiang Yu sneered at her expression. The door opened for Han Xin, and he sat as far away as possible from Xiang Yu, who was opposite him. The two of them sat facing each other as the hovercar drove off.

Peng Xiu was furious, but she restrained her anger and decided to get to the Academy early to catch up with Han Xin. Inside the hovercar, the tension was palpable. Han Xin’s mind raced with questions. What was Xiang Yu planning? Why had he insisted on sharing a ride with him today?

Xiang Yu, on the other hand, seemed relaxed, almost nonchalant. He continued adjusting his cuff, his eyes occasionally flicking up to meet Han Xin’s. The silence between them was heavy, filled with unspoken words and unresolved emotions.

The hovercar was uncomfortably silent. Han Xin finally broke the tension. "Since His Highness was so kind as to offer me a ride to the Academy, you must have something you would like to say to me."

Seeing Han Xin’s distant tone and indifferent expression, as if he were dealing with a stranger, Xiang Yu felt his heart twist painfully. He wished he had stayed a little longer in the other world. He missed the man who was so nervous to propose to him that he forgot to put the ring on his finger. Xiang Yu smiled self-deprecatingly. He had thought he would live happily ever after, but it seemed like he was cursed. Maybe it was all just wishful thinking.

Han Xin watched as Xiang Yu’s eyes went through a myriad of emotions. He didn’t know what Xiang Yu was thinking. Did this person really like him, or was it all part of a plot to humiliate him even more? Xiang Yu finally spoke, "You don’t have to serve me anymore, but don’t get close to Peng Xiu. That’s my bottom line."

Just then, the hovercar stopped in front of the Academy. The door opened, and Xiang Yu stepped out without saying anything else. Han Xin followed, watching the man’s straight back as he walked towards Lian and Mei, who was waving at him excitedly. Han Xin was about to walk away when Peng Xiu blocked his path.

He didn’t really like Peng Xiu in his past life, especially after finding out that she had lied to him about so many things. But because Xiang Yu had told him not to get close to her, he decided to do it. Peng Xiu was so happy that Han Xin didn’t just ignore her like he always did, and she excitedly chattered as they walked into the Academy.

Han Xin wasn’t paying attention to her; his focus was on Xiang Yu out of the corner of his eye. This meant he didn’t miss Xiang Yu’s expression shifting from a smile to a gloomy and cold look when he saw he and Peng Xiu walking together.
