Chapter 308: Getting a body pillow

Chapter 308: Getting a body pillow

The wind blew gently, and Han Xin’s hand rested on the back of his neck. It now made sense why his neck was free of any marks and why his old scars had vanished. Xiang Yu’s healing capsule had done its work, but Han Xin struggled to accept this truth. He needed confirmation from Doctor Bai.

He raised his head, looking up at the sky with its two moons. He took a deep breath, exhaling slowly, trying to process the whirlwind of emotions and revelations.

Four days later, Xiang Yu stood before the mirror, staring at his back. The pain was still severe, and the deep wounds from his flesh being seared off were healing slowly. His reflection showed the raw, angry marks that marred his skin, a testament to the recent ordeal. Hex, the AI, suddenly chirped with excitement, "It’s here! It’s here!"

Xiang Yu, who had been expecting a package, smiled happily. He didn’t bother tying up his robe as he walked out of his bedchambers. His pace quickened as he made his way to the security office. Along the passageways, staff members bowed to him, and he responded cheerfully, "Morning!" His steps were brisk, and his gown fluttered in the wind, leaving the staff perplexed. Xiang Yu never greeted them back, yet recently, his mood had become more friendly.

He sped past the staff dining area, his fleeting figure catching Han Xin’s attention. Over the past few days, Han Xin had kept his distance from Xiang Yu, especially after discovering that he had indeed been granted permission to use Xiang Yu’s healing capsule. Han Xin disliked things that were beyond his control, so he needed to figure out Xiang Yu’s plan before making his next move. Despite avoiding him, Han Xin kept a close watch on Xiang Yu’s actions.

Xiang Yu had demoted a few staff members and fired others. This wasn’t unusual, but the ones he demoted and dismissed were spies working for the Imperial Lord. Han Xin recognised them from his past life, which further supported his conjecture that Xiang Yu had been reborn.

Xiang Yu had been avoiding Han Xin for days. Not once was Han Xin summoned to serve him, nor did the steward assign him any tasks. Han Xin, meanwhile, had been holding secret meetings with Han Zhan, plotting how to fast-track their takeover of the republic and secure his throne.

Now, Han Xin spotted Xiang Yu in a place he would never have been caught dead in during his past life. Xiang Yu had never ventured to this level of the palace before. What was he doing here? Han Xin got up to follow but paused when he heard a group of servants chuckling and mentioning his name. Ignoring them, he walked out, his focus solely on Xiang Yu.

Xiang Yu ran past the security room doors. "Yu Yu, go back go back, it’s here!" Hex’s excited voice echoed in his ears. Xiang Yu turned back, unaware that Han Xin was watching him from a distance. He scanned his biometrics, and the doors whooshed open. Inside, an imperial guard was about to open his package for inspection.

"No, don’t open that," Xiang Yu said quickly, grabbing the package. "It’s private."

The imperial guards glanced at Xiang Yu’s partially open gown, revealing his smooth fair chest and toned abdominal muscles that were not as prominent as most alphas. Realising their error they hurriedly bowed. "Your Highness, it’s mandatory to open each package for your security. Please, Your Highness, let us do our jobs."

Xiang Yu had to think fast. He suddenly remembered his reputation as the playboy crown prince. "So intimate toys and lingerie for my lady friends also need to be checked? What, do you want to know what sort of lace garments I prefer and post them on the star network, huh?"

The guards exchanged uneasy glances before stepping back. "Of course not, Your Highness. We apologize."

The imperial guards bowed even deeper, their voices trembling as they defended themselves. Xiang Yu exuded an imposing aura, raising his hand to silence them. "Don’t forget who you are working for," he said, his tone icy. With the package in hand, he turned to leave.

Han Xin, hidden in the shadows, watched intently. He was determined to find out what was inside the package that had brought Xiang Yu all the way down here. As Xiang Yu’s figure disappeared down the corridor, Han Xin’s curiosity grew.

Xiang Yu, filled with excitement, quickly made his way back to his room. "Hex, lock the door," he commanded as he entered. He scanned the code on the box with his communicator, and the box opened with a soft click. Just then, his communicator rang. He answered it, and a large floating screen appeared in front of him, displaying the faces of Lian and Mei.

"Move over, you are in my space," Mei complained.

Lian retorted, "There is no more space. This room is so small, stop whining."

The two of them had been grounded for sneaking out and didn’t have their communicators. They had stolen the butler’s communicator and hid in the cleaning robot’s recharge room to call Xiang Yu as they were worried about him.

"Why are you arguing again?" Xiang Yu asked, exasperated.

"Master, can you see me?" Lian asked, her face pressed close to the screen.

Mei pushed Lian away. "Your hair is in my eye," she grumbled. Turning to Xiang Yu, she said, "Master, we miss you so much."

"Yeah," Lian added. "We have been forced to eat nutrient packs and copy the Black Vipers Corp code of ethics by hand. It’s torture. How are you feeling, Master?"

"I am getting better. Look what I got," Xiang Yu said, holding up his purchase. It was a body pillow of Han Xin. He had completely thrown out his promise to Han Xin not to buy one in the previous world out of the window.

He couldn’t hold Han Xin in this world so he could only settle for this. This idea was the only good thing that ever came from Peng Xiu. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to save her from his wrath in the future.

Lian squinted at the screen. "It looks like him but less scary."

Mei nodded. "Yes, it does."

Han Xin, who hadn’t had enough time to hack into Hex’s surveillance but managed to eavesdrop, was stunned. "Look like who?" he thought to himself. He needed to find out who was Xiang Yu’s beloved so he could use them to control him.

If it was indeed the princess of the Federation, it would be even better. He could control both Xiang Yu and the Federation, taking care of two birds with one stone.
