Chapter 307: But I only want them."

Han Xin slipped into the room with the stealth of a shadow. The darkness was no obstacle; he knew every inch of this space by heart. His movements were fluid, instinct guiding him past obstacles. He soon stood over Xiang Yu, whose face, even in sleep, was marked by unease.

Han Xin’s hand moved to his sleeve, pressing a hidden mechanism that released a thin, deadly blade. The cold, heartless determination in his eyes was unmistakable. One swift cut, and his enemy would be no more.

He stepped forward, but the faintest sound outside the door made him freeze. His eyes narrowed, and in an instant, he activated his suit’s invisibility function, blending seamlessly into the shadows. He watched as the door creaked open and a figure entered. The lights flickered on, and Xiang Yu, now fully alert, sat up, plasma gun in hand, drawn from beneath his pillow.

The intruder, a young woman with long, flowing hair and a slender frame, froze in terror. Her cloak slipped from her shoulders, and her face contorted into a grimace that was more pitiful than a cry. "Your your Highness, it’s me, Mi Mi," she stammered, her voice brittle and trembling.

Xiang Yu rubbed his temples, a flicker of recognition crossing his features. He had nearly forgotten about the arrangement his father had made with the women from the River Swan.

The original Xiang Yu had never understood why his father kept sending these omegas to him, but the current Xiang Yu knew all too well. It was his father’s attempt to prevent him from developing feelings with his attendant and to reassure himself that his son would remain loyal to their lineage. Han Xin was only a took meant to be used during his abnormal ruts and nothing more.

Xiang Yu lowered his weapon, his eyes narrowing as he recognized the intruder. "It’s you. You know the drill. Stay as far from me as possible and make it convincing in the morning," he said, his voice a low growl. He turned away, lying back on the bed on his belly, dismissing her presence.

Mi Mi struggled to find her voice. "Your Highness, I-I heard you were hurt. I brought you some ointment. It works wonders," she stammered, holding out a small tube.

Mi Mi and the other girls cherished their time serving Xiang Yu. It was more of a retreat than a duty. He never asked anything of them, allowing them to sleep in luxurious rooms and still get paid handsomely. To maintain his secret, he tipped them generously. All they had to do was put on a convincing act the next morning, rushing out with disheveled hair, rumpled clothes, and marks on their necks and arms.

Rumors had spread that the crown prince preferred slender female omegas with long hair and a meek demeanor. This reputation made him popular among the girls, who vied for the chance to serve him.

"Just put it down somewhere," Xiang Yu muttered.

Hex chimed in, "You heard him. Put it down and move on. We want to sleep."

"Oh, okay," Mi Mi replied, her voice shaky. She picked up her cloak and placed the tube of ointment on the console table. She wanted to offer her assistance further, but Hex interrupted, "Come on, get to stepping."

Mi Mi furrowed her brow, thinking how this AI had become annoyingly talkative. It never used to dare speak so much. She left the room, her thoughts swirling.

As soon as the door closed, Hex spoke again. "Yu Yu, do you think His Majesty will find out that you haven’t even slept with any of the omegas he sent?"

Xiang Yu’s muffled voice came from the bed. "I will kill whoever snitches on me."

Hex chuckled softly. "Yu Yu, you can’t kill anyone. You are too kind. Look at you, letting Han Xin use your healing capsule and now you’re stuck dealing with the pain."

"Shh, stop talking. I am going to sleep," Xiang Yu grumbled.

Hex dimmed the lights, asking, "Why not use a regular healing capsule?"

"Because the logs will show I didn’t use mine, and my father will find out. That would be bad," Xiang Yu explained, his voice heavy with exhaustion.

"That makes sense," Hex conceded.

In the shadows, Han Xin froze, his mind racing. He couldn’t believe what he had just heard. Why would Xiang Yu use his healing capsule on him? Even if Xiang Yu had been reborn, he would never do something so foolish for anyone, especially knowing what Han Xin would do to him in the future. The logic was baffling, and Han Xin’s heart pounded with a mix of confusion and suspicion.

Meanwhile, Xiang Yu could smell the strong, familiar scent of Han Xin. Subconsciously, he sought out the source, and when he found it on the pillow beneath his head, he took a deep whiff. The scent calmed his restless heart. Hex knew it should keep its mouth shut but it couldn’t help but be curious. It asked, "You aren’t looking at your beloved anymore tonight."

Xiang Yu smiled slightly. "If I keep looking at them, my heart will hurt more."

Hex sneered. "Yu Yu is so handsome, he can get someone better."

Xiang Yu’s smile widened. "But I only want them."

Half an hour later, Han Xin slipped out of the room. He had waited until Xiang Yu was fast asleep, ensuring he wouldn’t be detected. With the invisibility feature of his suit still activated, he moved silently down the passageway. He reappeared in the garden, his lone figure standing tall against the backdrop of the night. He glanced at the sea of lights, lost in thought.

He couldn’t make sense of what he had just heard. In his past life, he had seen omegas leave Xiang Yu’s chambers in the morning, looking disheveled and worn out. But now, he realized it had all been a facade. Xiang Yu had been putting on a show, likely for the Imperial Lord. This revelation made Han Xin question everything he thought he knew. Were there other deceptions in his past life, staged for appearances?

And then there was the matter of Xiang Yu’s beloved. Han Xin was certain that in his past life, Xiang Yu had never shown affection for anyone, or perhaps he had hidden it well. The only person who came to mind was the princess of the Federation, but did Xiang Yu know her at this time?
