Veilbreaker! Oops I Bleed Again -
Chapter 54: Master Mason
Chapter 54: Master Mason
Draven jumped from the cart and dashed straight toward the two massive Titanhorn hybrids.
The first one attacked immediately, a hammer fist smashing down, aiming to crush Draven.
Draven only grinned.
"Don’t you have any other attacks?"
He parried the attack upward with his Morphos, forcing the first Titanhorn to stumble back.
Then, Draven delivered a brutal kick to its ribs.
"BOOM!"
The massive beast flew sideways, slamming into the left wall.
The impact shook the entire tunnel.
The captured Verdants watched the fight in disbelief.
"Who is that guy?! Does he have a Luminous I.D.?!" Bryan asked.
He kept pushing the cart, but he didn’t take his eyes off Draven.
Bella grinned.
"That guy? He’s a Verdant."
Bryan froze.
"A... Verdant?!"
His eyes widened in shock.
"No way! That’s impossible! He’s using skills!"
To Bryan, this wasn’t normal.
The skills weren’t just a combination.
They were completely different types.
Draven was using the wind to fly.
He was using darkness to blink.
This wasn’t just a single ability. It was multiple!
Bryan clenched his fists.
"How does he manage to use those skills?"
Belle shrugged since she didn’t really know.
They continued to watch.
As the second Titanhorn charged forward, its rhino-like head lowered to gore Draven.
But Draven jumped over it, landing on its massive skull.
With a mighty push, he kicked off its head, launching himself toward the ceiling.
"CRACK!"
The force of his movement cracked the ceiling above.
Then, using his own momentum, he dashed downward.
With his Morphos raised high, he slammed it into the Titanhorn’s head again.
"BAGOOM!"
The Titanhorn’s skull was smashed deep into the ground.
The Titanhorn let out a deafening roar of pain.
But Draven was already moving again.
He blinked to its side.
[Phantom Mirage!]
An illusory image of Draven appeared as he reappeared at its ribs.
Before the Titanhorn could react, Draven smashed its ribs with all his strength.
The force sent the massive beast flying into the right wall.
Meanwhile, the other Titanhorn tried to recover.
But Draven would not let it.
"Not a chance!"
Draven blinked again and kicked it back into the hole.
While the second Titanhorn struggled to stand, Draven used the first Titanhorn’s body as a stepping stone.
He dashed off the left wall, then the right wall.
He never gives the two Titanhorn enough time to recover their pace.
Bryan watched in shock.
"His movements... they’re insane!"
Draven just looks like a blurry shadow exchanging left and right.
Until...
Draven launched downward.
He smashed his Morphos into the second Titanhorn’s body.
"CRACK!"
The armor-like skin finally broke open. Blood splattered onto the walls.
"There you go!" Draven smirked as he landed in the center of the battlefield.
On either side of him, the two Titanhorns lay defeated, buried deep into the walls.
Bryan stood frozen. He couldn’t even speak.
The Verdants stared at Draven with wide eyes.
They had never seen someone fight like this before.
Draven stretched his neck and turned to Bryan.
"You’re going to push that cart, or do I have to beat these things again?"
Draven flew back to the cart and landed beside Bryan.
The Verdants stared at him in awe.
"Wow! You are strong!"
"We really can get out of here!"
They cheered Draven as he started pushing again.
Everyone is smiling except Bryan.
He is really curious about Draven’s skill.
"Ahm..." Bryan’s voice lost its sharpness. "Are you really a Verdant?"
Bryan looked away as he asked.
"Yeah, don’t be too confused," Draven grinned. "All I can say is that the Verdant are evolving."
"How about you? You’re a Crimson. What’s your ability?"
Bryan looked down again.
"It doesn’t matter. Don’t expect too much just because I’m Crimson. I didn’t choose a power-type skill. I won’t be much help to you."
Draven raised an eyebrow.
"Then what’s your class?"
Bryan sighed.
"Master Mason."
Draven froze before his eyes lit up and his lips lifted in a wide smile.
"Really?!"
Bryan misinterpreted Draven’s reaction, and his shoulders dropped.
"Go ahead and laugh. I know. I wasted my Crimson I.D."
He assumed Draven was about to insult him. Just like others had before.
All I.D.s have the right to choose what they want.
Either the skill is created by them. Or it will automatically develop if they don’t make one.
Crimson is just more powerful when it comes to firepower attacks.
Or they have a bonus attribute when attacking.
The same goes for Azure.
However, it’s different for the Terra since they can’t perform defensive or offensive attacks, no matter how much you train or develop them.
But Bryan decided not to use his ability in the way people typically do.
He has a clear goal.
He wants to build houses.
Draven grinned even wider, practically beaming.
"You’re exactly what I’ve been looking for!"
"Huh?" Bryan blinked, confused.
Draven grabbed his shoulders, shaking him slightly.
"Damn! I’ve been looking for a mason for a month. Please, join us!"
Bryan scoffed. "I’m no help. And why the hell would I join you?"
Draven smirked and glanced at the unconscious girl earlier.
"Because she’s staying with us. A whole group of Verdants."
Bryan’s expression darkened.
"So you’re using her against me?"
Draven shook his head.
"No, I’m just stating the facts."
Bryan narrowed his eyes at Draven. He wasn’t sure what to think of him.
But before he could respond, Draven’s smile faltered.
Ahead of them, more hybrids were coming.
This time, there were four Rank C Hybrids.
A Basilik type, halt snake type, a lion type and a boar type.
Draven cracked his knuckles.
"Let’s talk later. I have some trash to clean up."
He flies forward, and then there’s a series of blurry consecutive attacks.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Within seconds, all of them collapsed.
Draven frowned.
"A smash doesn’t have the same impact when it’s in the air."
His attacks lacked force, unlike when he used his full momentum from a dash.
Before he could relax, more enemies emerged.
Now, a swarm of lower-ranked Hybrids were aiming at them.
Draven gritted his teeth.
"Why the heck are they sending a lot of weaklings?"
Then, suddenly, his realization hit him.
’Wait? There’s still someone operating the battlefield...’
Since the last time they left, the only Hybrids were the two who came from another door.
It was like there’s a stock of hybrid predators on that door just waiting for the opportunity to be released.
’Someone must be opening that door!’
He quickly turned back to Deka and Bella.
"Listen up, guys. There’s someone ahead controlling the place we entered earlier. Protect the people."
Deka and Bella tensed.
"Meaning?" Bryan asked, his brows furrowed.
Draven grinned, gripping his Morphos tighter.
"Meaning we’re not done yet."
