Veilbreaker! Oops I Bleed Again
Chapter 55: Third Commander

Chapter 55: Third Commander

Draven flew ahead to scout the battlefield.

Upon arrival, the place was clear.

Three doors stood open, revealing empty cages inside.

The exit door, however, remained shut.

Draven nodded toward Bryan.

"All clear."

The group moved inside, heading straight for the exit.

As they did so, Draven inspected the locked door.

"Wait here. I’ll check upstairs for the switch. Deka, protect them."

Deka nodded.

He raised his hand, prepared to deploy his barrier if necessary.

Draven was just about to ascend when...

"BANG!"

The remaining open doors suddenly slammed shut!

Also, there are two-layer steel bars enclosing them.

The first layer was from right to left. And the second layer was up to down.

They were completely sealed in.

Everyone was shocked.

Suddenly, a deep, mocking voice echoed from the speakers above.

"Welcome back, Verdants. There’s no escaping here!"

The Verdant prisoners were filled with fear again. And they held each other, trembling, while slowly walking back.

Suddenly...

"CRASH!"

At the highest point of the battlefield, a camouflaged window was shattered.

Then, from above, a figure descended.

He landed smoothly, standing tall with a confident smirk.

It was Commander Dex holding his giant red battle axe.

"My bad... I should’ve checked the office upstairs first." Draven sighed.

Bryan’s eyes widened in shock.

"Wait... why is he here?!"

Draven glanced at Bryan.

"You know him?"

Bryan nodded, his fists clenching.

"Yes. That’s the Third Commander of Zarathon. Commander Dex. A Crimson I.D. who melts his enemies with magma manipulation."

Bryan continued.

"Why is a high-ranking military officer here?! Why was someone from the kingdom involved in this secret facility?"

Draven scoffed.

"Tsk. Obviously, people like him want more power. In short, greedy bastards."

Draven turned to Deka.

"Deka, activate your barrier!"

Deka nodded and raised his hand.

[House Barrier!]

A massive dome of light-blue energy formed, protecting all the Verdants inside.

The captured Verdants gasped in awe.

They had never seen a barrier this strong before.

Commander Dex smirked, amused.

"Oh? So he can expand his barrier this much?"

He chuckled.

"Duke Marcus will be very pleased with that."

Draven narrowed his eyes.

"Where’s that rich bastard? Where is he hiding?"

Commander Dex grinned.

"He is already back in the Kingdom."

Draven smirks in disbelief.

"Impossible, I believe he is in that office!"

He pointed to the place where Commander Dex came from.

But Commander Dex kept smiling.

Draven froze. Something felt wrong.

Then, a realization hit him.

"This is a magical world. If I can use Blink, that means..."

"A teleport skill!"

Draven had been so confident in his strategy that he didn’t bother to bring all his strong companions like Gil, Naisha, Kael, or Kaner.

Deka’s unbreakable barrier.

Belle’s manipulation skills.

He has brute force.

It was supposed to be a perfect team that could turn the tables even if they met all the strongest people.

Or so he thought.

His eyes quickly flicked toward Deka, thinking about the possibilities, and his heart dropped.

Standing right beside Deka was a man in white armor.

His long, golden, mohawk-styled hair was tied in the back, and a cold smirk was on his lips.

Draven’s eyes trailed on the placement of his hands. And his instinct screamed.

His hand was resting on Deka’s shoulder!

"Bella! Stop him!"

Bella was already in action since she was with Deka activating her scent.

But with just a fraction of a second, Deka and the white-armored man vanished, and the barrier quickly collapsed, exposing the Verdants’ vulnerability once again.

Draven’s fists clenched.

For the first time, he felt really pissed.

Commander Dex laughed mockingly.

"Hahahaha! How does it feel to be outsmarted?"

Draven tried to remain calm, but his rage was visible.

"So this is the strength of a commander."

He had underestimated them.

And now, Deka was gone.

Draven felt the weight of the situation.

Protecting the Verdant just got harder.

He looked at Commander Dex.

"How about you? Are you gonna flee too?"

Commander Dex scoffed.

"Why should I? You think you’re stronger than me?"

He laughed mockingly.

Bryan swallowed hard, tense.

Then he leaned toward Bella.

"He’s right... That man is strong. He can burn his enemies to dust. Every time he fights, it’s like hell. Even though Draven is strong, he still can’t beat a commander."

Bella didn’t respond. Her mind was elsewhere.

"Are you okay?" Bryan nudged her.

Bella looks back at him.

"I’m fine. Let’s move back. We’ll just get in Draven’s way."

Slowly, they began retreating.

Commander Dex glanced at them.

"Hey, don’t bother running. There’s nowhere to go."

Dex quickly glanced back at Draven.

But as soon as he turned around, Draven’s Morphos was already swinging toward his face.

"WHAM!"

Dex quickly responded.

[Erupting Circle!]

"BOOM!"

A lava burst erupted right in front of him, hitting Draven.

Draven’s image flickered into mist.

[Phantom Mirage!]

He reappeared behind Dex, his weapon already swinging downward.

Dex turned just in time, clashing his battle-axe against Draven’s Morphos.

"CLANG!"

Draven gritted his teeth.

’This guy is strong. So this is the power of a kingdom commander?’

For the first time in this world, he was facing an opponent who matched him.

Not just in strength. But in speed.

Draven grinned.

’Then I’ll beat him with ability.’

Draven vanished, blinking five times around Dex, leaving behind afterimages.

Each one is attacking from a different direction.

Commander Dex just smirked.

"A funny trick."

Suddenly...

"BOOM!" "BOOM!" "BOOM!" "BOOM!" "BOOM!"

Five lava circles erupted around him, incinerating all the illusions.

"Is that all you can do?"

But Draven wasn’t among them.

"WHOOSH!"

Draven descended from above, coming down directly in front of Dex.

Just as his Morphos was about to land...

"BOOM!"

Another erupting circle exploded, not beneath Dex, but diagonally aimed at Draven’s landing point.

"Shit!"

Draven tried to evade it, but the lava scorched his side.

His skin burned, and blood dripped from fresh wounds.

He landed, breathing heavily.

Commander Dex watched him, impressed.

"You’re strong. You’re the only one to survive my [Erupting Circle] after getting hit."

He grinned.

"I can feel it. You’re a Luminous I.D., aren’t you?"

Draven grinned back.

"It’s a secret."

Draven doesn’t want to expose it yet.

Commander Dex narrowed his eyes.

"Luminous may be four times stronger than Crimson, but I can keep up with them. The only thing that makes them dangerous is their rare skill."

He pointed his battle axe at Draven.

"I know you’re still hiding something."

Draven tilted his head, smirking.

"What do you think is up my sleeve?"
