Veilbreaker! Oops I Bleed Again -
Chapter 53: Escape
Chapter 53: Escape
"Don’t kill them." Draven’s voice was calm but firm.
He walked over to the empty Verdant cages and scanned them carefully.
Then a specific cage caught his eye.
It appeared to be the dirtiest among them all, with rotten food wastes, feces, and urine everywhere.
He sniffed it, and his eyes gleamed with excitement.
"This is the one!"
Then he turned around, his sharp eyes scanning those with other I.D.s carefully.
"Lead them there."
Bella smirked. Quickly, she turned to the manipulated prisoners.
"Dogs! Get in the cage." Her voice was mocking, commanding.
Without hesitation, the brown-haired Azure, along with the others, marched obediently toward the dirty cage like mindless slaves.
Another young Verdant girl hesitantly stepped toward Draven.
Her voice was soft, uncertain. "A-Are you going to kill them?"
Draven glanced down at her.
"Do you want me to?"
The girl flinched. She couldn’t meet his gaze.
She was scared.
Draven chuckled. "Just kidding. Of course not."
Then he turned toward the caged prisoners.
"But they need to face the consequences of their arrogance," he added.
Draven walked toward another empty Verdant cage, just near the new cage of the prisoners.
With a single pull, he forcefully ripped the heavy steel door from its hinges.
Deka, Bella, and the other Verdants watched; their jaws dropped open.
"H-how did he do that?"
Meanwhile, Draven dragged the door across the floor as if it were just cardboard.
Then he slammed it down, hard, over the prisoners’ cage.
The door was buried deep into the dirt, sealing them inside.
Hearing the sound of the slammed door, the prisoners snapped out of their trance.
They looked around, and realizing where they were, their eyes widened.
"What the fuck is this?!"
"Did you just put us in these gross cages?!"
They tried using their enhanced strength, summoning their skills here and there.
But the bars wouldn’t budge.
The very cages they once spat on now held them prisoner.
The brown-haired Azure glared at Draven, knowing he was the mastermind of putting them in their new cell.
"Who the hell are you?!"
Draven grinned before turning to Deka.
"Show them your I.D."
Deka nodded and stepped forward. He raised his arm, revealing his Azure I.D.
The prisoners with the other I.D.s froze, stunned.
"Why the fuck is an Azure helping the Verdants?!"
Draven laughed. He leaned in closer to them, eyes gleaming.
"Because we are the Avengers of the Verdants!"
The prisoners went silent.
Their faces twisted in shock and anger, knowing they could do nothing.
But the Verdants’ faces had the opposite reaction.
Their faces lit up with newfound hope as they glanced at their heroes.
Draven turned his back on them and continued to check out the area.
As he did so, he noticed something on his right.
"Jackpot!" he grinned.
There was a stack of huge steel carts piled on top of each other.
It must be the carts that they use to transport the bodies to this place.
Draven smirked. Then he turned toward the spiky-haired Crimson I.D.
The only one who disagreed with the others.
"You."
The man didn’t look at him. His voice was sharp and irritated.
"What do you want?"
Draven’s grin widened.
"What’s your name?"
Without looking, the Crimson replied, "Bryan."
"Come, help me get the cart."
Bryan crossed his arms and squared his shoulders.
"Why me? Go ask that guy who wields the barrier," he jerked his thumb at Deka.
Draven scoffed.
"Bella is stronger than him, even though he’s Azure."
Deka’s brows furrowed and puffed his cheeks in frustration.
Belle snickered, both at Draven’s comment and Deka’s reaction.
Bryan rolled his eyes. But his shoulders dropped, and he followed Draven anyway.
As they walked toward the carts, a Verdant woman collapsed and fell to the ground.
She was the one who pointed to the location of the prisoners with other IDs.
"Hey!"
Before the others could react, Bryan sprinted toward her immediately.
He knelt beside her, checking her pulse with a worried look on his face.
Draven smirked. ’Hmm...’
He finally understood why Bryan stood against the others earlier.
And that is why this girl who has just passed out directed Draven to them.
"Anyway, we need to move fast," Draven cut their moment.
Dusting his hands, he sprinted towards the carts and untangled them.
Bryan followed him and did the same.
It was Bella who stayed behind and tended to the girl.
One of the Verdant men drew near to Draven and Bryan.
"C-can we help?" He asked in a weak voice.
Draven turned to him.
With the man’s physical appearance, he couldn’t even lift a twig!
"I appreciate the offer, bro. But my new buddy here can manage," Draven elbowed Bryan, who just gave him a smug look.
Draven and Bryan continued sorting the carts.
But suddenly, Draven stopped. His entire body tensed.
"Something was coming. Fast."
Bryan stopped in his tracks while the Verdants huddled together again in fear.
"Get ready."
Draven’s eyes narrowed, while his fingers curled around Morphos.
Deka and Bella nodded and went into alert mode.
Draven planted his feet apart.
’It’s super fast. But wait. Why is its step familiar?’
The ground beneath him cracked from the force.
"Three..."
Draven lowered his stance. His muscles coiled like a spring.
"Two..."
A blurred shadow approached at terrifying speed.
"ONE!"
Draven launched forward at full speed.
At the exact moment the Ravager appeared at the exit, Draven’s Morphos smashed into its face.
"BOOM!"
The Ravager flew backward. Its body crashed into the wall, burying deep into the stone.
Blood splattered from the impact, and the giant creature twitched in shock.
Even though it was one of the fastest hybrids, it hadn’t even been able to react to Draven’s attack.
Draven knew he couldn’t chase the Ravager down if it got momentum.
So instead, he rushed in before it could even register that they were there.
Meanwhile, everyone was shocked at what just happened.
Both the Verdants and the prisoners in the cage stared, mouths open.
Bryan lost his usual arrogance, his eyes wide.
The appearance of a humongous hybrid has barely registered in their minds when a human, just like them, smashed it into a wall!
Draven snapped his fingers.
"Let’s move!"
Bryan shook himself from his shock. Immediately, he rushed forward, grabbing the heavy-duty carts with Draven.
Together, they set up eight carts, connecting them in a line along the rail.
Bella quickly jumped onto one. "Where are we headed?!"
Draven kept snapping his fingers, thinking fast.
"We can’t continue ahead with the Verdants. It’s too dangerous. Let’s go back now."
Bryan, Deka, and Bella swiftly loaded the Verdants onto the carts, one by one.
Each cart was large enough to fit eight people, making it the perfect escape ride.
"Everyone, sit down!" Draven commanded.
Bryan helped Draven push the heavy carts forward.
"1... 2... 3... Push!"
Both of them shoved with their strength.
Slowly, the carts began rolling forward. The momentum kicked in, and the carts started speeding up.
Draven glanced at Bryan. "Jump in now!"
"Are you sure you can do this alone?" Bryan hesitated, his brows furrowed.
Draven nodded. "GO!"
Bryan leaped into the cart.
Draven continued running behind, pushing even faster.
Then, with a single leap, he took off into the air.
[Gale Glide!]
Draven soared behind the carts, using the wind to accelerate them.
The Verdants held on tightly as Deka and Bella tried to reassure them, experiencing the same speed as before.
After an hour of speeding forward, Draven activated his skill.
[Hawk’s Eye!]
Far ahead, something massive was moving. And it was charging straight at them.
It’s the Titanhorn!
But wait, it’s not just the Titanhorn.
There’s another gigantic hybrid as massive as the Titanhorn.
Draven slowed down slightly.
"Bryan!"
"What?!"
"Take over! Push the carts!"
Bryan looked confused. "Why?!"
Draven’s eyes locked onto the incoming predators.
"Hybrids incoming."
Bryan glanced ahead, but he saw nothing.
"I don’t see anything!"
Draven grinned. "You will see later."
Even though Bryan couldn’t see the danger yet, he jumped down and exchanged places with Draven in pushing the carts.
Meanwhile, Draven climbed onto the front cart, crouching like a predator.
Bryan watched him carefully.
The carts began slowing down slightly.
Bryan gritted his teeth and pushed harder.
Then, from the shadows of the tunnel, the giant hybrids finally appeared.
Bryan’s eyes widened. "Wow... He was right. How did he see that?"
The two hybrids stood like monstrous guardians, blocking the path.
Their claws scraped against the floor, ready to strike. Their growls rumbled like thunder.
The Verdants drew together in fear for their lives.
Deka and Bella prepared themselves.
Bryan’s heart raced as he muttered out loud.
"Do you really think you can beat those monsters?!"
Draven gripped his Morphos tightly, his lips curled up with excitement.
"Let’s find out."
