Veilbreaker! Oops I Bleed Again -
Chapter 50: Alluring Scent
Chapter 50: Alluring Scent
A few moments ago, Duke Marcus chuckled, impressed, as he watched the battle behind the glass.
He witnessed how the Titanhorn rammed Draven into the wall repeatedly.
And now, Draven had been buried beneath the debris for too long.
He turned to Commander Dex.
"Looks like your instincts are getting dull, Commander."
Dex’s brows furrowed.
His eyes never left the battlefield.
He watched every movement Draven made earlier.
It was so perfect and smooth.
For him, it was impossible for Draven to be lost.
’No signs of fatigue, even after using Blink so many times.’
’No sluggish movements. No decline in speed.’
’So why did the battle suddenly shift?’
His thoughts were interrupted.
Duke Marcus let out a casual laugh.
"Hah! Anyway, I want that barrier user."
The white-uniformed officers stood stiffly, awaiting orders from the Duke.
Duke Marcus motioned for the group to move.
"Let’s go down."
But Dex felt uneasy.
’Something is wrong.’
One of the white-uniformed men stepped forward nervously.
"Your Grace, it isn’t safe. Let us handle them instead."
Duke Marcus waved off the concern.
"Nonsense. He’ll agree faster if I make the offer myself."
The noble’s footsteps echoed as they made their way downward.
As soon as they reached the battlefield, Duke Marcus stepped toward Deka.
---
Duke Marcus smiled.
"So? Have you thought about it?"
Deka stayed silent. His hands curled into fists.
After some time, he spoke.
"Where are the other Verdants?"
Duke Marcus’s expression faltered. For the first time, annoyance flickered in his eyes.
He hated that question.
Verdants were nothing.
Their existence was a stain on society.
Whether they were alive or dead didn’t matter.
But still, the Duke forced a smile.
"Forget about them."
His tone was smooth, persuasive.
"You want to join me, don’t you?"
Commander Dex was with them, but he wasn’t listening anymore.
His instincts screaming at him.
Something wasn’t right. He had to confirm it.
He took a step forward, leaving them talking.
Then another.
His footsteps slowed as he neared the hole in the wall.
The debris shifted slightly. The shadows were thick.
But then he saw it.
There’s a figure standing perfectly still.
Commander Dex’s breath caught as he saw two pairs of black eyes staring directly at him.
Draven gave him a creepy smirk.
Dex’s heart pound.
"No way..."
Draven was alive.
He’s not just alive.
He had been waiting inside of a small barrier like Deka’s.
It was all an act.
A trap.
Deka and Bella exchanged knowing smiles.
The Titanhorn wasn’t attacking randomly and butchered him.
It knew Draven was still alive. That’s why it kept slamming the wall over and over.
Draven grinned wider.
Suddenly, he shouted.
"Bella! Do it now!"
Quickly, Deka disabled his barrier.
The moment Deka disabled his shield, Bella activated her skill.
[Alluring Scent!]
Alluring Scent (B-Rank): Emits pheromones that make those around her attracted to her.
A red mist spread through the air, invisible but undeniable.
Its effect was instant.
The three white-uniformed men froze for a few seconds before their eyes glazed over.
Their expressions softened into mindless adoration.
Duke Marcus’ face twisted into an obsessive smile.
Even Deka wavered, his body relaxing unconsciously until Bella’s voice rang out.
"Kill yourselves."
Without hesitation, the three white-uniformed men drew their swords.
"SLASH!"
One slit his own throat.
The second drove his blade straight through his chest.
The third collapsed, blood pooling beneath him.
Duke Marcus lifted his sword next.
"Wait, where did you hide all the Verdant?"
She stopped him and interrogated him.
"They’re all in the extraction room."
Bella tensed as she heard it.
"What are they extracting?"
"I need their brains. We are creating the first human hybrid, something even a Luminous cannot stop."
Bella, getting pissed, said, "Kill yourself."
Duke Marcus’ hands trembled.
But his expression remained blissful, as if under a drugged trance.
His blade hovered at his throat.
But Commander Dex moved.
He caught Duke Marcus’s wrist, stopping the blade just in time.
"What are you doing?!"
Dex’s voice was sharp.
But Duke Marcus... He just stared at him.
His pupils were dilated, and his smile was empty.
It was like he wasn’t even there.
"What the hell is happening?!"
Dex’s grip tightened.
He turned his gaze and saw Bella staring directly at him.
Her eyes were focused.
Calculating.
’This girl...’
Dex clenched his jaw.
’She has manipulation ability?!’
Belle’s power shifted toward him.
A wave of unnatural warmth crept into his mind.
His heartbeat slowed. His vision blurred.
’Damn it. I’m losing control!’
"SLASH!"
Dex suddenly grabbed Duke Marcus’s sword and wounded his arm with it.
Pain rushed through him, shocking his mind awake.
His vision sharpened.
He glanced at Bella.
She narrowed her eyes at him.
Her control over him weakened for a moment.
It was all he needed.
Immediately, he ran straight for the wall door.
But Draven was already waiting by the exit.
"This guy is a veteran. He managed to escape Bella’s skill."
Draven smirked.
"C’mon, fight me! "
Dex gritted his teeth.
He didn’t have time to fight.
He lifted his hand upward.
[Erupting Circle!]
The ground beneath Draven’s feet glowed red.
A huge magic circle ignited.
Heat swelled violently.
Draven quickly dashed to the side.
"BOOM!"
The ground exploded.
A massive eruption of lava burst upward, swallowing everything in its radius.
Draven landed safely, scowling.
"Tch, so that’s his ability?"
Dex exhaled.
His arm bled, his body exhausted from resisting Bella’s control.
He stepped through the exit, smirking slightly.
"Sorry."
His voice was calm, almost amusing.
"But I can’t fight you right now."
Dex glanced upward. His sharp eyes narrowed.
"Release the sleeping smoke!"
"HISSSS!"
From the vents above, thick black smoke poured into the room, spreading fast.
"Deka! Put up a barrier!"
Draven’s command snapped through the chaos.
But Deka was still under Bella’s influence. His dazed eyes remained locked on her.
A lovesick addiction burned in his gaze.
"Deka!"
Belle’s voice rang out instead.
"Barrier. Now!"
Without hesitation, Deka obeyed, still looking captivated with her.
A thick, dome-shaped barrier formed around them, sealing them off from the smoke.
The entire room disappeared into darkness.
Thick choking fumes coated everything outside the barrier.
When it finally settled, Commander Dex was gone.
Draven smiled, shaking his head as he saw Deka looking obsessed with Bella.
He patted Deka’s shoulder.
"Damn, I wish I had a phone to record your face right now."
As the scent disappeared, Deka blinks.
His mind slowly cleared.
"...What happened?"
Draven grinned.
"I’ll tell you later. Right now, we need to move."
He turned to Bella.
"Did you get anything?"
Belle nodded. Her voice was firm.
"Yes. The other Verdants... they’re in the extraction room."
"Lets go!"
Without a second thought, they ran straight into the depths of the facility.
