Chapter 77: Birthday Present (Chapter 2 of my new book)

Amelia woke up with a terrible headache and she groan when she heard a loud voice singing ’Happy birthday’ to her.

She placed her hand on her head and opened her eyes slowly and she saw her sister smiling face, she couldn’t help but asked jokingly "Does seeing me miserable make you happy?"

Liliana shook her head and said "At least with this pain you feel, you will remember never to drink again"

Amelia place herself in a sitting position on her bed and asked "How did you know where I was? were you stalking me?"

"Of course not, the bartender called and asked me to come get you. Let’s forget about that, today is our birthday. It is the day when we pampered ourselves and ensure everyone does not deny our request."

At the mention of birthday, Amelia immediately search for her phone and when she found it, she unlocked it and went to inbox, the light in her eyes dimmed when saw all the messages in her inbox.

Liliana heart clenched when she saw her sister expression, she knew she was searching for a message from Damien and the reason for the dimness in her eyes was that Damien haven’t called nor has he even sent a message wishing her a happy birthday.

Liliana thought were confirmed when Amelia whispered "He didn’t even send a text." Amelia looked at her sister with tears in her eyes as she said "Has he become so busy that he no longer care about me. Before he will always be the first to wish me ’Happy birthday’ but now, there is no call and no message."

Liliana held her sister hands and said "It’s just 9am, there is still time, who knows he must be planning something big for your birthday."

Amelia looked at her sister in hope as she asked "Do you really think so?"

Liliana immediately nodded her head and said "Of course. What do you think the world would say if they find out that the richest man in the country forgot about his fiancee birthday? a lot of people would criticize him, especially your fans."

Amelia is a popular actress, although their family disagree with her professional but when she threatened to break off her relationship with Damien if the Lennon family does not accept her profession, they agreed and now Amelia Lennon has become one of the top five best actresses in America within a year.

But she knew the truth, Liliana knew that her sister joining the entertainment industry was just to get a reaction from Damien, but Damien didn’t mind, infact he even supported her decision.

There was a knocked on the door and after giving permission to come in, a maid entered and said "Madam has asked for the two of you to join her for breakfast."

Liliana answered "Tell her we will be right there." The maid nodded and left.

Liliana looked at her sister and handed her a drug as she said "This is for your hangover. After taking the drug, ensure you freshen up and come downstairs for breakfast."

Amelia nodded as she watched her sister leaving her room and just then, her phone rang, she picked it with urgency but when she saw the person calling, her lips curved in disgust and she ignored the call.

Few minutes later, Amelia came downstairs, dressed in a flowery gown that made her looked like an 18 yrs old girl. Even though the twins were 23 years, they didn’t really look their age, especially Amelia who has an innocence beauty, while Liliana is known for her mature beauty.

Amelia smiled when she saw her mother sitting down at the head of the table and immediatly ran to hugged her.

Liliana smiled when she saw her sister childish action and said "Mum, you have spoiled her so much, that she still act like a child."

Katherine chuckle and patted her daughter head as she said "Happy birthday to my angel."

Amelia asked "What about my present?"

"Why don’t you eat your breakfast first, then I will give you your present." Katherine said as if she was trying to coax a child but Amelia refused.

Katherine sigh at Amelia refusal and then she stood up, went to her room and came back and then she gave Amelia a little present box.

When Amelia opened the present box, she screamed in excitement as she said "You bought me a new car! Thank you so much Mom. You just made my day." Amelia hugged her mother tightly and Katherine said "You know I will do anything for you. I love you."

Their moment was broken when Liliana asked "You told me you were too busy to get a birthday present for me, but you weren’t too busy to buy one for Amelia?"

Amelia smiled turned into a frowned as she looked at her mother, but Katherine expression remained calm as she said "If you do not see me as your mother, how do you expect me to be part of your birthday celebration?"

Liliana was confused so she asked "What do you mean by ’I don’t see you as my mother’?"

"If you had seen me as your mother then you would have broken up with that good for nothing man named William a long time ago." Katherine said.

Liliana let out a short laugh and said "And be with a man like Damien, who doesn’t even remember his fiancee birthday or a man like Dad who is never around when you need him. William may not have much but he has always been there for me and I love him."

"Does he love you too?" Amelia asked viciously.

Liliana looked at her sister and she saw a look in her eyes she has never seen before. Her eyes held anger and jealousy and she wondered why, just when she wanted to asked, the door bell rang and the maid immediately walked out to open the door.

Ethan felt that he came at the wrong time, he could feel the tension in the air as he greeted Katherine.

Katherine compose herself as she saw Ethan and said "How have you been, Ethan?"

"I am well Ma. Sir has asked me to give this to miss Amelia." Ethan said as he bought out two present box. One was big while the other was small.

Katherine smiled as she asked "Really? But why couldn’t he come by himself?

Ethan gave a professional smile as he said "The boss had a last minute trip, so he couldn’t make it."

Amelia had a proud look in her eyes when she saw the two present box, she glance at Liliana and was about to collect the two when Ethan handed to her the smaller box and gave the bigger one to Liliana.

Both Amelia and Liliana were confused, even Katherine couldn’t understand what was going on, so she asked "Isn’t the two boxes for Amelia?"

Ethan smiled politely and said "No, since today is also Liliana birthday, the boss decided to buy a present for her as well."

"Even at that why do I get the bigger one while Amelia got the smaller one?" Liliana asked.

Even him could not understand why his boss made it so. Is he trying to cause division between the two sisters, he really could not understand his boss thoughts at all, nevertheless he still said "Although the size of the boxes are different, I ensure you that you will both love what the boss has gotten for you."

Amelia opened her present box and her frowned immediately turned to a cheerful smile when she saw what was in the present box.

Ethan sigh with relief when he saw the smile on Amelia face and said "The boss said that I should tell you, he is sorry for not being able to attend your birthday party however he wants you to lack nothing on your birthday so he has given you an unlimited ATM card and the code is the day you both met."

When Amelia heard that the code was the day they met, she felt her hands trembled, she looked at Liliana and immediatly compose herself.

After seeing the black card that was given to her sister, she wondered what that heartless monster got for her, so she opened her present box and was surprised by it’s content.

Ethan saw the surprised in Liliana eyes and said "Sir said I should tell you, there is nothing wrong with the color of your eyes, he said they are beautiful and are capable of capturing one’s soul, hence the jewelry."

Liliana listened to Ethan words as she stared at the Emerald necklace and earrings, she couldn’t help but whispered "They are beautiful." She couldn’t believe there was someone who liked the color of her eyes. Her eyes were the color of an emerald gem. She has always been proud of her eyes color, but when people started calling her a freak because of the color of her eyes, she began using a brown color contact lens.

Even William had said he felt uncomfortable looking at her eyes, and since that day she had vow never to show her real eyes color to anyone, but how did Damien knew the true color of her eyes she was sure that she has never shown him, they barely even talk, so how did he know? She looked at Amelia and realized maybe it was her who told him.

After seeing their satisfied expression, Ethan excused himself and left the Lennon mansion.

Ethan thought they were both satisfied but only Katherine saw the way Amelia clenched the present box in her hands.
