Lin An watched as his sister slept in his shoulder and whispered "I will never allow you to be like that woman. I’m going to protect you Lin Yan, even if it is the last thing I do."

Before Li Lingyun arrived home it was already evening. He sighed in relief when he saw Li Xiao sleeping in the backseat.

He carried her in his arms to her bedroom and was about to laid her down on her bed when she whispered "Mummy."

He carress her hair and said "I’m sorry but I don’t think I can make your birthday wish come true."

He kissed her forehead and left the room.

Immediately he left the room, he called Gu Wei and asked "Where is she?"

Gu Wei was silent for a brief moment before saying "Mrs.Li is at Lin An’s apartment."

Li Lingyun eyes became cold as he said "Ensure whatever happened in the hotel today stays in the hotel and also find me the staff who said he saw Lin An dragging a woman to a room."

"Yes sir." Gu Wei said but before Li Lingyun could end the call, he heard Gu Wei hesitant voice saying "Sir, I know it’s not my place to ask, but.... Are you alright?"

Li Lingyun who heard this was surprised at first before he smiled and said "I’m fine and thank you for worrying."

After ending the call, Li Lingyun went to his office in the house and walked towards the bar bringing out a bottle of wine, along with a wine glass.

He sat on the chair and was about to pour himself a drink when his phone rang, he frowned when he saw that it was Lin An calling, he wanted to ignored the call but he answered it instead.

"What do you want?" Li Lingyun asked.

"Shen Yi is with me and she is drunk."

Li Lingyun clenched his wine glass and said "Did you call me to gloat about the fact that my wife is with you."

"No, I called you to come pick up your drunk wife, I’m sure you already know the address to my apartment. I will be waiting for you."

Lin An held a knock on his door and looked at Lin Yan who was sleeping on his couch before walking to open the door.

Li Lingyun entered the house without even saying hello and his eyes landed on Shen Yi who was sleeping on Lin An couch.

"She must trust you enough to get drunk in your house." Li Lingyun said as his gaze moved from Shen Yi to Lin An.

"Do you really think that we are having an affair?" Lin An asked

"I don’t know about that, but what I’m certain of is that, you both knew each other before her accident."

Lin An smiled and said "We are not having an affair and yes, we knew each other before her accident. We planned to meet that day when I saw people gathering round a car and I realized that it was her who was in an accident."

"Where did you two first met each other?"

"Lin Yan funeral, when I was kicked out. She came to me and comforted me and that was how we became friends."

"Then you began liking her?"

"Then I began seeing her as my little sister. Shen Yi would never cheat on you."

Remebering her affair with Mu Chen, Li Lingyun scoffed and said "What do you know?"

"If you are talking about her relationship with Mu Chen then she broke it off to give her marriage with you a chance. When you accused her of cheating on you, she was hurt, your accusation made her felt like all her effort to make her relationship with you better were all in vain." Lin An said. He would do whatever he can to fixed his sister marriage. Lin Yan was wrong, neither Li Lingyun or Li Xiao belong to Shen Yi, they belong to her now and even if the real Shen Yi was alive he will never allow anyone to take away what belongs to his sister.

Li Lingyun looked at Lin An silently before saying "No, I didn’t really think you and my wife was having an affair but I was curious about your relationship with her, why would she defend you the way she did? And why does she run to you whenever she feels trouble, why?"

"Because I’m her brother. To Shen Yi I’m like her brother and she is my sister. Believe it or not Li Lingyun, we see ourselves like siblings and nothing we change that."

"Li Lingyun?"

Li Lingyun gaze turned to the girl on the couch who called his name. He could already feel his heart melting with just one look from her. Her eyes were unclear, it was obvious that she was drunk.

He sighed and walked towards the couch and asked gently "Why did you drink so much?"

Lin Yan pouted and suddenly started crying.

Lin An sighed and muttered to himself "This was one of the reasons I told her not to get drunk." He looked at Li Lingyun who was shocked at Lin Yan sudden outburst and said "At least I don’t have to handle drunk Lin Yan anymore."

Why was she crying? What should he do? Shen Yi has never cried in front of him before, perhaps he should coax her the way he usually coax Li Xiao whenever she starts crying.

"Why are you suddenly crying?"

Lin Yan sniffles and said "I thought you didn’t want to see me again especially when you gave me that scary look."

What scary look was she talking about?

"See, you are doing it again." Lin Yan said as her cry became louder.

Li Lingyun patted her head gently and said "I’m sorry. It’s my fault that we fought, sorry for giving you scary looks."

Lin Yan pouted her lips and stopped crying "Li Lingyun."

"Hmm. I’m here."

"You won’t leave me right?"

Lin An looked at his sister and clenched his fist.

She was so cute right now. That was the first thought that came into Li Lingyun mind when he saw Shen Yi pouting her lips, however he was caught off guard by her question.

He placed his hands on her cheek as he bought his face closer to hers and whispered "Never." Before crashing his lips on hers.
