Chapter 49: Wishes.

Li Lingyun came back from his meeting and decided to check if Li Xiao has waken up but to his surprise, she was still sleeping.

Li Lingyun frowned and walked closer to the bed, he used his hands to feel her temperature and sighed in relief when her temperature felt normal.

"Li Xiao wake up. You have been sleeping for a long time." Li Lingyun said as he wake his daughter gently.

Li Xiao stirred a little before opening her eyes "Daddy?"

"Hmm. Aren’t you hungry? You have been sleeping for a long time."

Li Lingyun carried Li Xiao in his arms before saying "Come, let’s eat something."

Li Lingyun had already called Gu Wei to order some food for them.

"Daddy?"

"Yes baby." Li Lingyun said gently.

"I want to pee." Li Xiao said in a shy manner.

Li Lingyun chuckled at his daughter shy attitude and carried her to the bathroom.

By the time they entered the office, Li Lingyun saw the food placed on the table. He placed Li Xiao on the couch in his office and fed her all her favorite dishes.

He smiled when Li Xiao cut her chocolate in half and gave it to him.

Li Lingyun ate it and said "Thank you."

"Daddy, will you and mummy always stay together?"

"Why do you ask this?"

"I don’t want you and mummy to ever separate. I want to be with the both of you. I don’t want be like Chao Xu."

"Chao Xu? Who is that?"

"My friend at school. She said she stays with her mum because her parents have separated."

Li Lingyun sighed and asked "Is that why you have been moody lately? I thought it was because I said you could no longer go to that school."

Li Xiao pouted her lips and said nothing.

"Li Xiao, me and your mother relationship is a complicated one. But always remember this, both I and your mother love you so much. Your happiness is my number one priority Li Xiao, whatever decision I make, I do that with you on my mind."

"But I also want you to be happy." Li Xiao said.

Li Lingyun smiled "I am happy whenever you are happy."

Li Lingyun knelt down and hugged Li Xiao tightly as he said "I love you very much, never forget that."

By evening, Lin Yan and Yao Qi were done with buying everything that they thought were needed for Li Xiao birthday.

"Should I drop you off?" Lin Yan asked. Since they use the car for the journey, Lin Yan assumed that Yao Qi didn’t come with a car.

Yao Qi smiled and said "No need. I have already call for my chauffeur. Maybe some other day we can have a girl’s night."

Lin Yan nodded and truly within one minute, a car stopped in front of them.

"I guess your ride is here and I await our upcoming girl’s night."

Yao Qi smiled and said "See you tomorrow"

Lin Yan waved her hand as the car drove away. She had a very strong feeling that she and Yao Qi would become good friends.

Li Lingyun woke up early as usual and after taking his bath and getting dressed, he went to Shen Yi’s room and knocked but there was no answer. He opened the door wondering if she was still sleeping but she was not in the bedroom.

He went downstairs and when he heard noises coming from the kitchen he knew she was there. And indeed when he walked towards the kitchen, he saw her there.

"Are you baking?" Li Lingyun asked with a smile in his eyes.

Lin Yan looked at him with a smile and said "Today is Li Xiao birthday, I wanted to bake her cake myself. How does it look?"

"It looks edible"

"It is edible and I’m a very good baker"

To be honest, Shen Yi baking wasn’t that bad, he actually enjoyed the cookies she made for him but of course he would never tell her that.

"I didn’t ask yesterday, but how was your outing with Yao Qi?"

"Don’t worry, we did get along, we even agree to have a girls night someday."

"I don’t look forward to that day." Li Lingyun muttered to himself.

"Done. It is finally ready." Lin Yan said after putting the icing on the cake. She placed four little candles on it and said "Time to wake Li Xiao. But first wear this" Lin Yan said to Li Lingyun as she gave him a party hat that has happy birthday written on it.

Li Lingyun looked at the hat and asked "Are you serious?"

Lin Yan nodded

"I’m not wearing that."

"Why?"

"Because it’s for kids."

Lin Yan looked at him with puppy eyes and said "Please, do it for me and Li Xiao."

Li Lingyun looked at Shen Yi with unbelief before collecting the hat and said "I’m not going to wear this outside, I have a reputation to maintain you know."

Lin Yan smiled when he put on the hat and said "You look like a cute prince. Can I take a picture?"

"Do you a death wish?" Li Lingyun asked with a dangerous smile in his eyes.

"Got it, no pictures then." Lin Yan said and wore her own party hat. She carried the cake and both she and Li Lingyun arrived at Li Xiao room.

Li Lingyun knocked on the door softly before opening it and it wasn’t even a surprise to him that his little girl was still sleeping.

He looked at Shen Yi and said "I will wake her up."

Lin Yan nodded and watched as he woke Li Xiao up. Immediately she opened her eyes, Lin Yan shouted "Happy Birthday! Mummy baked you a cake."

Li Xiao sat up on her bed and smiled. Her mother has never celebrated her birthday before. It was always her and her dad with the other members of the family, but she has wondered what it would feel like to have both of her parents with her on her birthday and now she knows the feeling. This was her most happiest birthday ever, she has never felt this happy to celebrate her birthday before.

"Happy birthday." Li Lingyun said as he kissed Li Xiao cheek.

"Shoot. I forgot the lighter."

"Here, use mine." Li Lingyun said as he bought out a lighter from his pocket and passed it to Shen Yi.

Lin Yan collected it and use the lighter to lit the four candle. She bought the cake to Li Xiao and said "Now, make a wish and blow out the candles."

Li Xiao looked at the cake and then at her mother as she asked "Will you be with me in my next birthday?"

Lin Yan smiled and said "Yes, mummy will be with you in your next birthday and in all your other birthdays. I’m sorry for already missing three of your birthdays, will you forgive me?"

Li Xiao nodded and said "I forgive you."

Lin Yan laughed softly as she felt the tears threatening to come out from her eyes. She wondered why Shen Yi was so cruel to a little girl that did nothing to her. "Now, make a wish and blow out the candles."

Li Xiao looked at the cake with the four candles litted on it. Before her wish would always be for her mum to celebrate her next birthday and to love her. Now that her wish have been fulfilled she had a new wish, she wished for her mum and dad to always stay together and to love each other very much.

Li Xiao close her eyes as she made her wish and opened them when she blew out the candles.

Lin Yan used a small knife to cut small piece of the cake and fed it to Li Xiao and then she cut another small piece and wanted to feed it to Li Lingyun when she froze because of the way he was looking at, a calm but intense look.

She raised her hand and put the cake in front of his mouth. Lin Yan widened her eyes and felt butterfly in her belly when Li Lingyun licked her hands after eating the cake.

"You are right. It is very edible and sweet." Li Lingyun said and smile when he saw Shen Yi red cheeks.

"Li Xiao stay with your dad while I go get ready for the party."

Li Xiao nodded.

Lin Yan looked at Li Lingyun and said "I can’t wait to see the look on Wang Hua face when she finds out that the hotel is now in my name. Today is going to be so fun."

Li Lingyun watched as Shen Yi left the room and sighed "I feel like I’m going to need a very strong drink today."

He looked at Li Xiao and asked "Are you happy?"

"Yes!"

"What did you wish for?"

"If I tell you then it won’t come true."

Li Lingyun chuckle and said "But you have always told me all your wishes."

Li Xiao pouted and said "I wish for daddy and mummy to stay together and to always love each other."

Li Lingyun smiled and asked "Should I tell you a secret?"

Li Xiao immediately nodded.

"Lately, even i have been finding myself wishing that same thing."
