Triune: The broken path -
Chapter 39: Uprising
Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Uprising
The being had arrived, yet it was not alone.
"Really? Where’s the Gorrhorn beast?" A young male voice filled the air, laced with frustration.
"I don’t know," another male replied.
"We should have gone for the head," a female voice chimed in, followed by a collective sigh.
"Moraooor!" The beast roared, shaking the ground as Kael shook his head.
"Your hunters are here, yet you still roar. Are you that eager to die?" Kael muttered as the beings finally noticed him.
He stood at the front of the Gorrhorn beast, while they were positioned at the back, seemingly cornering it.
"What is this repulsive being?" the female among them asked, covering her nose in disgust.
The two males frowned as Kael realized his body and clothing were drenched in blood.
Kael merely smiled. "Human," he said with a grin, causing the girl to take a step back.
"Is this a monster?" the male on the left questioned.
"Possibly," the male on the right responded.
The three stood together, the female in the middle, still covering her nose.
"I’m a human. Just had an unfortunate fall into... something," Kael said, smirking as the two males raised an eyebrow.
"Just kill the Gorrhorn already—and bring him with us," the male on the right ordered.
"Quickly, Rick... he stinks," the female added, clearly uncomfortable.
"Alright then... he’s just a kid anyway," Rick, the male on the left, muttered.
He had a sharp nose, small eyes, and an average face. His physique was decent for his age, far more developed than Kael’s lean, childlike frame. Compared to Kael, who still had a ways to grow, Rick was already in his teenage years, his growth spurt evident.
"Well, beast, time to take care of you," Rick said with a grin.
Moments later, the beast was reduced to a charred husk.
"Done," Rick said casually as the other two nodded.
Kael’s face twitched at the sight of the beast burnt to a crisp.
Name: Rick
Rank: Awakener (Peak)
Concept: Fire
Ability: Burn – With a single thought, anything can ignite, and the fire will not stop until it turns to ash. The stronger the user, the stronger the effect.
Name: Elisa
Rank: Awakener (Peak)
Concept: Wind
Ability: Cut – Can cut anything, regardless of distance.
Name: Jone
Rank: Awakener (Peak)
Concept: Vision
Ability: Eye of the World – Nothing is hidden from his sight. However, the stronger the enemy, the weaker his vision becomes.
The first two abilities belonged to Rick and Elisa, but Jone’s was different. It felt lacking in direct combat strength—until Kael reconsidered.
A concept’s strength depended on the user. If used right, Jone’s ability was far from weak. Seeing the enemy meant he could detect assassins, evade attacks, and predict movements. Combined with his Awakener-level physique, he was more dangerous than he seemed.
"The three seem decent... already at the peak of the Awakener realm. It seems the Middle Lands are far stronger than I expected. The power increase here is massive, and so is the danger," Kael thought.
"Follow us, kid. When we get to the city, tell us who your parents are," Jone said, leading the way. The other two followed without question, which confused Kael.
Elisa walked ahead, clearly disturbed by Kael’s scent. Even Jone and Rick kept their distance.
"There’s a small stream ahead. Wash up there, and we’ll give you a robe," Rick said.
Kael simply nodded.
Upon reaching the stream, Kael washed up and donned the grey robe they provided.
"First, get to the city. Talk to other humans. Gather information about this world. Then, figure out my next steps. From now on, this realm of war is my enemy. If I want to stand at the top, I must keep getting stronger."
As he finalized his thoughts, a deafening roar echoed through the air.
Kael’s eyes widened. A massive creature emerged—a grotesque fusion of a bear and something unnatural. It had a brown, bare back covered in eerie patterns.
It stood three meters tall and stretched seven meters in length.
Kael’s gaze shifted to its stats, and his mind reeled.
Name: ???
Rank: Demigod (Middle)
Concept: Blood
Ability:
Blood Rust – Disintegrates all blood within a being.
Heal – Absorbs blood to replenish health and strength.
"Fascinating," Kael murmured.
"Stand down," a voice commanded.
A man appeared, clad in tight-fitting armor, wielding a massive axe effortlessly in one hand. The beast instantly backed away.
"Commander Rakus," Rick greeted with a smile.
"Little brat, you’re back. And who’s the kid?" Rakus asked, also smiling.
"Uncle, we found him wandering. Seems like he’s lost. Just dump him somewhere," Elisa said indifferently.
Throughout the journey, they had barely spoken to Kael, and he hadn’t bothered trying. Their arrogance was evident in how they talked.
Listening to their conversations, Kael had learned that this place was a human city. He also discovered that gods existed—each race had one. Those without a god either perished or served another deity.
Kael was slowly uncovering more about the Realm of War.
"Alright, head to the academy. The dean’s worried about you," Rakus instructed.
The trio exchanged a few more words before departing.
"Carry him. Ask about his family. If found, return him. If not, enroll him as a death soldier," Rakus ordered coldly.
Kael’s eyes glinted.
He couldn’t move. The sheer difference in strength was suffocating.
Name: Rakus
Rank: ???
Concept: ???
Ability: ???
That confirmed it—Rakus was far beyond the Demigod realm. Likely in the next tier of power, a level Kael had yet to comprehend.
Another detail struck him: they couldn’t see kael’s rank.
"Interesting," Kael mused.
"Let’s head to the city. In one day, I need to understand everything about this realm," he thought determinedly.
Elsewhere...
"The Middle Lands seem like a good place to begin the rebirth of our race," a voice echoed through the void.
Silhouetted figures with glowing eyes listened in silence.
"It’s perfect. The girl is there, and I’ve heard the dragon race’s boy is on his way to challenge her," one figure said.
"Haha... then let’s send ours too. I want to see what the God of War can do," another chuckled.
"A Sequence... not a god yet," someone corrected.
"Just a little more time," a different voice commented ominously.
"What do you think will happen if those so-called gods find out that one of us possesses their cherished concepts?" another being spoke up, his eyes flashing with slight fear.
"We kill the gods again," the one who had spoken previously continued without hesitation.
"The god killers are gone. We only survived because of them," another being challenged him.
"Then we become the god killers... Have you ever seen the Kin race show fear? Come on. Even those stupid fire birds are braver than us," the being said angrily.
"Yes, they can be brave because they have the talent and the strength to back it up," another being started to say before being cut off.
"And we don’t? I see why the Kin race isn’t part of the top ten races. You disappoint me. Your mentality is a joke... I wish our ancestors would return so they could erase you all," the being spat in anger.
"The funny thing is, they are dead. Did you not know, fool? It’s because of this same stupid overconfidence. Have you forgotten what happened? That war is still fresh. What is eternity to us? A single flash, a single blink of our eyes is an era, yet we were nothing to them. The chaos... Do you know how many races were injured? Do you know how long it has been? Even the arrogance of the Dragon race was shattered because of that war. Or have you forgotten the Primordial Demon race that disappeared?" one of the opposing beings said, his voice laced with fear, anger, and sadness.
"No one wanted the demons anyway. Besides, they merely disappeared—they’re not dead," another being countered.
"Same thing. The gods are not to be challenged. The Sequences... Which race holds the majority of them?" the being asked mockingly.
"That’s because of the concepts they possess," the first being replied.
"Exactly... Because of the concepts. That is the ultimate path to the Origin—the path to what existence truly is."
The first being, now challenged by everyone, fell silent.
After what seemed like a long time, he finally spoke.
"He will join them as a Sequence and ascend to godhood."
"Or die trying," another being sneered as silence fell over them.
The dozens of glowing eyes slowly faded into the darkness.
***********
As soon as they entered the city, Jone asked, "What do you think your uncle Rakus did with that boy?"
"Out of sight, out of mind. I don’t care," Elisa replied, looking ahead at the school gate in front of her.
"Cold," Rick chuckled.
"Whatever... If you guys want to break through to the Demi-God realm, this lazy attitude won’t work," Elisa shook her head, stepping into the school.
"What’s wrong with her?" Jone whispered to Rick.
"No idea, dude," Rick shrugged.
Ahead of them, Elisa clutched her chest, her breath uneven. Her eyes darkened momentarily as she murmured to herself,
"What’s wrong with me... and these chaotic desires?"
Her body trembled slightly.
Far away, a boy stood beside a soldier in armor, grinning.
"Well, it worked," Kael smirked. He had used the chaotic effect of his concept on Elisa, and now it was beginning to take hold. Soon, she would be his slave.
He had chosen her because of her connection to the so-called Commander. After all, Kael didn’t have the strength to leave this place or gather information on his own. But her... she was perfect.
The city was similar to Ailey Town, with towering walls and a massive gate. However, the difference was evident—soldiers patrolled the streets, flying beasts soared overhead, and the city’s interior was stunning.
Humans bustled about their daily lives, the rhythmic sound of hammers striking metal echoing through the air. The thick scent of herbs filled Kael’s nostrils, making him grin.
"Alchemy..." Kael muttered with a smirk.
