Triune: The broken path
Chapter 38: Middle land

Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Middle land

A deep pit stretched endlessly before him, filled with bones and rotting flesh, a grotesque sight that could make even the most hardened individual recoil in disgust. The overwhelming stench of decay drowned the air, making it unbearable for anyone who wandered too close.

This was the dumping ground for the ’useless’—the failed or dead specimens. They weren’t even given the dignity of disintegration by a technological railgun or any other efficient method. Deemed unworthy of such treatment, this pit became their final resting place.

Buried beneath countless bodies lay a familiar figure—a lean, lifeless form. Kael’s body, cold and motionless, had been discarded like all the others, deemed dead after every sign of life had been drained from him.

(+6+7+8+2+13+10+100+40 pain gained... +60 resentment gained... +10 anger gained...)

A constant stream of energy began seeping into Kael’s body, reviving him, restoring the vitality that had once been lost.

One fundamental truth about the Concept of Nothingness was its ability to grow stronger by feeding on emotions.

Unlike the Void Concept, which symbolized an insatiable hunger that could consume anything and everything, Nothingness thrived on emotions alone. It was an absolute truth—so long as emotions existed, the user of this concept would continuously evolve.

Gasp...

A sharp intake of breath echoed through the pit as Kael’s body trembled violently. His eyes snapped open.

He felt renewed, stronger than before, as he slowly sat up. Something slick and foul dripped from his body, and as he looked around, his gaze settled on the gruesome scene surrounding him.

Corpses piled into hills, bones scattered chaotically across the crimson-stained ground. Blood had long soaked into the earth, turning it into a graveyard of despair.

A foul stench assaulted his senses, forcing him to frown.

"So, this is where they dump the specimens... Hah. Do they really believe none of us would survive? Or do they just not care?" Kael mused, glancing down at himself.

His clothes reeked of death, drenched in thick black blood. His body, however, felt healthier—stronger. He even noticed that his height seemed to have increased.

"I should stay here for a while. I need to grow stronger," he muttered, scanning the pit once more.

It was the perfect hiding place. Nobody would check a place meant for corpses.

Now, onto the important matter—his Concepts.

Chaos—a concept that grew stronger in the presence of disorder, particularly in times of war. It granted him unique abilities, including All-Seer and Chaos Whisperer.

Void—it signified hunger, but hunger for what exactly? He had grown stronger by consuming his enemies, but he knew there had to be more to it. The power of Void wasn’t simply about destruction—it was about devouring, absorbing, assimilating. Perhaps, at its core, it was the Concept of Devouring itself.

Nothingness—a power that could erase anything from existence and thrived on emotions. A straightforward yet terrifying ability.

Kael exhaled deeply.

"What I need now is experience—real battle experience. I don’t know how dangerous the Realm of War is, but if what that race said earlier is true, then they are at the bottom of the food chain... and yet, they were already that strong," Kael murmured, his eyes narrowing in thought.

All-Seer Activated

Name: Kael

Rank: Awakener (High)

Concepts: Chaos, Void, Nothingness

Abilities: All-Seer, Chaos Whisperer

"I’m growing too slowly," Kael admitted. "If I want to survive in this realm, I need absolute strength. But strength alone won’t be enough. I need an organization—a force tied to me. A lone tiger will eventually fall to a pack of wolves."

He smirked, feeling his power surging at a rapid pace.

"This place is a paradise," he realized.

With Nothingness, he could absorb the lingering emotions of the deceased. Their final moments—filled with fear, regret, pain, and hatred—were now his fuel. The sheer magnitude of despair in this graveyard became nourishment for his power, clearing the oppressive aura that had settled over the pit.

One Day Later...

Kael spread his arms wide, allowing the first rays of sunlight to wash over him.

"Finally... it’s done," he whispered, a grin creeping across his face.

And there was a reason for that grin.

All-Seer Activated

Name: Kael

Rank: Demi-God (Low)

Concepts: Chaos, Void, Nothingness

Abilities: [?????]

He had broken through.

Kael had ascended from the Awakener Realm to the Demi-God Realm. The difference in power was staggering—almost unreal.

An Awakener was nothing before a Demi-God.

He could feel it. The sheer gap between realms was beyond anything he had expected. His very existence felt renewed, overflowing with strength and confidence.

At least now, he wasn’t completely weak anymore. Maybe he was still an ant, but now he was a bigger ant.

The once corpse-filled pit was now empty.

Kael had discovered something new—the Void Concept could break down bodies into pure energy, allowing him to absorb everything. Flesh, bones... nothing remained except the crimson-stained soil.

It had taken tens of thousands of corpses to push him beyond the Awakener Realm. Many of those corpses had once belonged to beings above the Awakener level, but their energy had long since faded, leaving only faint remnants behind. Even so, it had been enough.

Now, he could finally leave.

Kael clenched his fists, his gaze filled with determination.

He needed to find a better place—somewhere he could gather information.

After all, he had one burning question:

How powerful is a Demi-God?

Kael moved forward, beginning his journey. A small forest stretched out before him, but something was strange—there was no life. Not a single trace. Even the plants were either dead or dying, their withered forms painting a desolate scene.

A sense of unease settled over him as he walked, and soon, he found the cause.

Before him lay a terrifying phenomenon—an enormous barrier stretching for thousands of kilometers, its reach seemingly endless. It extended high into the sky, resembling an intricate, chaotic net. The realization struck him like a hammer.

"To survive in the Realm of War, you must be strong. If you belong to a weak race, you will either seek the protection of a stronger one or create something to defend yourself."

And that "something" was right in front of him.

All-Seer Activated

Name: ???

Description: This is the residual chaotic energy of a terrifying being. It acts as both a shield and a boundary for the Wakon race.

"Hmm, so their race is called the Wakon... Noted."

A terrifying smile crept across Kael’s face. He would never forget what they did to him, and he meant every word he had sworn. He would destroy them. He would crush that woman—the one they had given a piece of his Concept to.

"I see why you’re not worried. Even if a specimen were to come back to life, it wouldn’t be able to escape this chaotic wall... But that’s where you’re wrong."

His eyes gleamed with dark amusement.

"For I wield the Concept of Chaos as well."

With that, Kael stepped into the wall.

He passed through effortlessly, emerging on the other side to a breathtaking sight.

Towering creatures soared through the sky, radiating terrifying auras. Trees and plants stood at monstrous heights, their sheer scale unlike anything he had ever seen. Water sources shimmered in the distance, their pristine clarity pulsating with an unknown energy—one that seemed capable of rejuvenating the body itself.

A faint mist lingered around him, giving away the altitude. This place was high above the ground.

Kael continued forward, soon reaching the edge of the mountain.

What he saw left him speechless.

It was something out of legends—grand, divine, yet more vivid than any tale of immortals or gods.

The ecosystem thrived with brutal efficiency. The roars of beasts echoed through the air as predators hunted their prey, the endless cycle of life and death unfolding before his eyes.

But what caught his attention the most was the massive city in the distance.

Without hesitation, he knew—that was where he needed to go. That was where he would find information.

Descending the mountain, Kael stepped into the forest of the middle lands.

It didn’t take long for him to encounter some of the terrifying creatures that roamed this world.

One such beast stood before him now—a wounded, cow-like creature.

It resembled an ordinary cow, but with several key differences. Its four crimson eyes gleamed with menace, and two large, curved black horns adorned its head. Its hooves were unnaturally large, designed for destruction rather than mere movement.

A deep gash marred its hind leg, oozing thick blue blood.

"Hmm... What injured you?" Kael muttered, activating All-Seer.

All-Seer Activated

Name: ???

Rank: Awakener (Middle)

Concept: Blood

Ability: Bloodlust – By consuming its own blood, the user gains a temporary increase in speed, strength, and stamina. The multiplier depends on the user’s level of understanding.

Kael studied the information carefully.

"So far, every Concept I’ve encountered comes with unique abilities that complement its nature... and they’re all strong," he noted.

If this beast’s understanding of its Concept advanced far enough, it could theoretically boost its strength by over two hundred times. And there was no upper limit—it could keep growing, surpassing all reason, reaching unfathomable levels.

For now, though, the multiplier was unknown. But Kael guessed it wouldn’t exceed four.

That wasn’t his main concern.

What mattered was—what had injured this beast?

He didn’t have to wait long for an answer.

The being responsible had arrived.
