Chapter 674: Who invited everyone?

Chi Lian assumed that she would be one of the first at the private beach, but she wasn’t, her parents and brothers were already there. Someone had invited more of the Wang’s who were not at work, if she had to guess, it was most likely her mother. Grandma An was shepherding a few little ones who were wearing swimming shorts and costumes, guiding them away from the water.

The dogs run past her, heading straight into the water, and so did the horses. King, made it a point to bump into her before he raced past her to join Apple and her baby in the water. The little foal was not so little anymore, it had grown into a beauty.

Just as she was about to take a step forward, she heard someone shout, "Sister-in-law, we are here too."

She turned around, to see the owner of the familiar but also unfamiliar voice. She saw a young man running to the beach in shorts, with a a large sun hat and a round pink ball.

"Beautiful daosi." she said unsurely.

The young man stopped in front of her and she smiled, "Hi," she waved.

"Sister-in-law, wow, long time no see." he said, his tone slightly pitchy as he expressed his happiness. He did not resemble the owner of at least ten car shops in the empire.

"Yeah, it’s been a while." she said.

"Since the wedding, that’s when we last saw each other." he specified.

"Yes," she smiled uncertainly, and her eyes glanced around. A few more Su’s had made it, including Su Manchu’s mother. "How are you all here?" she asked.

Her hands moved around in a circular motion as she specified the area she was talking about.

"Oh, my mother was worried about Manchu when she said that she was coming to the beach so she suggested that we come and keep an eye on her. Then, he bent down and whispered, "It’s a lie, everyone has been dying to visit this beach but as far as we knew, it belonged to the emperor. If we had known that it was yours, we would have been knocking on your myrtle house gates all summer."

Chi Lian scratched her chin and thought for a few seconds, if she had charged a fee for the entrance, food, and accommodation, how much money would she have made?

"Aaah, if I had known." she said, with a sigh.

T4 tsked, and commented, "Word really spreads fast in this place, a gathering of twenty something people is now forty three. Who knows how many more are coming? But, the water feels nice, if I had remembered that we owned this place, we would have come for walks every night."

The beach was beginning to resemble an actual beach, because someone had brought a loud speaker and music was being played. The triplets were setting up poles and they had a net which made her think that they were going to engage in a game of volleyball. A few people were already in the water, playing with the pink ball which the beautiful daosi brought. Mama Chi tossed them a yellow ball as well and some of the children from the Wang’s run into the water, following the ball.

Muyang’s father, a very unlikely figure here whose presence was unexpected was tying kites for a few kids who were standing in line, little monk was at the front of that line. All that was missing was a balloon stand, one for ice cream and sweets and another for cold drinks and snacks.

Right on cue, her father and Muyang unpacked a grill, and the chef from the Chi house with his assistant and a few maids started unpacking food.

"I love this!!" she heard T4 howl in her mind.

She saw the fox frolicking in the water with a few children.

"Where is Mei-Mei?" she asked him.

"Who cares, I am having fun." he answered.

"Hey, you thieving system." she shouted at him.

"With your mother and the old madam struggling because she wants to play but they are forcefully applying sun screen on her. Can I play now?"

"Tsk, tsk, you are just having all kinds of fun aren’t you?" she asked him.

"We have spent over one year doing missions and leveling up, when did we have this kind of fun host?"

It would be so easy for her to say never, because, truly, never had they had such fun before.

"And more guests, wow, you should really charge a entrance fee." T4 said.

When she turned around, she saw the queen dowager, the empress, little prince and the wife of the third prince, the one who came from the Kingdom of Philippine.

"Who invited royalty now?" she asked.

"Your brother married a princess and you are asking who invited the royals who are technically your relatives now. Just enjoy your beach party host, someone is delivering food and drinks from the farm."

She smiled at the queen dowager and empress, before bowing slightly and greeting them politely. Relative or not, royal was royal.

"Your highnesses." she said, in a very soft voice.

"Chi-Chi," the queen dowager embraced her. "How are you dear? We have not seen you in so long."

The queen dowager let go of her and the empress took over, hugging her as well.

"How is Muyang? We heard what happened, it’s such a pity." the empress said.

She was clearly talking about his eye, because the royals knew. They had to know in order to compensate him accordingly and remember that they owed him for the rest of their lives.

"He is learning to cope, it has not been very easy but we will learn to live with it." she answered. If she said that he was fine, they might take him for granted, and she would never let them do that.

What if she did and next time, they made another demand and he lost an ear or an arm.

"We can replace them all, no matter what body parts he loses." T4 volunteered.

"No thank you, keep them to yourself." she told him.

"Oh dear," the queen dowager grabbed her hand and covered it with hers. She looked into her eyes and said, "We are deeply sorry for what happened. Our royal family owes you two so much and I don’t know if we will ever be able to repay you."

’That’s it.’ Chi Lian thought. ’It’s what I want to hear.’

"Well, we are family and family must always stick together. As long as we have a big tree like yours to lean on, we will forever be happy." Chi Lian told her.

"Yes, of course, dear, our family will always be the big tree which provides shade for you." the empress leaned her head in and said to her.

T4 said in her mind, "I actually think that you are the big tree and the royal family is the one which is leaning against you. Is this one of your human things which I don’t understand?"

Something like that." she told him. The royals had a name and authority, so unless she took that from them, they were in a codependent relationship.

"This is the wife of the third prince, Princess Angela." the empress finally introduced the other woman to her.

She bowed slightly and said, "It’s a pleasure to meet you princess."

"Me too, please, call me Angela." she said.

Chi Lian nodded and smiled, wondering it the pale, raven haired petite woman with a beautiful but long face would be any different from the haughty crown princess. She would reserve judgement until she knew more about the woman.

"Come with me please, I will show you around on our side of the beach." Chi Lian led them towards the others around the beach chairs which had been brought over from their house and a delivery man T4 sent.
