Chapter 673: Let’s go to the beach
After Mei-Mei’s recital, Muyang carried Mei-Mei and held Rose by the hand abut he still ensured that Chi Lian and little monk walked within the distance of his arm, far away from Si Cong who had been shooting small glances at his wife all through the recital.
Si Cong watched the family leave, and he had a sad look in his eyes which was noticed by his sister Si Da Xia.
"Are you still in love with her?" she asked him.
Si Cong nodded and Si Da Xia shook her head, pitying her poor brother who was bound to suffer with his one sided love which would forever go unrequited.
"She is married and not just to any man but Jun Muyang. He has the looks and the money, so you cannot seduce her away with anything. Give up, Si Cong, and marry the woman our parents have chosen for you. I know Lee Lanying personally. She is not just my friend’s younger sister but she is also a great girl. I am sure that you will be happy."
"You don’t have to convince me about the benefits of our Si family allying with the Lee’s, mother already listed them down for me. But, getting married when someone else dwells in my heart would not only be cruel to me but to Lanying as well." he said.
"You will not be the first man to do so, and you will learn to love her. As for Chi Lian, forget it brother, Jun Muyang or his brother Muchen will come after us all if you do something foolish. Do not cause our entire family to perish just because of lust." Si Da Xia warned him. "Besides, have you seen the way she looks at him, and the fact that she apparently pursued him first. She is so blindly in love that no other man on earth stands a chance with that woman."
Then, she smiled and waved at one of the mothers who was waving at her, and she walked them. "I will see you later Cong," she said as she left.
Chi Lian and her family had reached home, already, after a short drive. All of the members of the family who had attended to the recital had been invited back to the house for a celebration. If the food was not enough, she could get it from the farm and T4 would have someone pretend to deliver it.
In fact, she told T4 to work on that immediately because the house was very full. All of her brothers, some cousins, her parents and grandparents were here. It was the same on Muyang’s side.
The gathering found it’s way to the pool side as the brothers wanted to drink in a freer environment. The women had already beaten them to it, and they had picked out the best spots to sit.
Chi Lian smiled when she saw them, and she took Mei-Mei from Muyang so that she would show off how beautifully she was dressed and precious she looked.
Mei-Mei skipped over to her aunties, heading first for Rize.
"Here comes the little ballerina." Cherry shouted loudly and she let off some small fireworks.
"Aaah," Chi Lian screamed in surprise.
The children all looked up, drawn in by the colorful bright lights in the sky. It would have been more beautiful if it had been dark outside.
"I want pictures and the video. How could you not invite us for such a special occasion?" Rize complained as soon as Chi Lian sat down.
"It was just a recital, nothing to make a big deal about and besides, there will be many more recitals to come. Rose, your school has such recitals too, right?" Chi Lian turned to Rose, who was trailing pulling a chair closer.
"I joined the journalism club auntie, I don’t have the confidence to dance." Rose answered. "Can I invite my friends over?"
"Sure sweetie, go ahead." Chi Lian told her.
"Thank you auntie." Rose cheerfully jumped up and run away.
"Pictures!! pictures, pictures," Rize chanted. "Show me pictures of my baby dancing."
"Me too." Cherry said.
"And me," Manchu pushed herself closer, protruding belly first and the rest of her followed.
Chi Lian was giddy and she happily showed them the videos that she had taken on her phone of Mei-Mei on the few occasions that her baby had appeared on the stage.
"She is so adorable." Rize gushed.
"You should step aside Rize, there is a new princess in the empire." Manchu declared.
The women engaged in an enthralling conversation about the recital, the other parents who attended and little monk’s own activities at the gym the following week. The conversation moved to the camping activities and the children’s birthdays.
Rize suddenly raised a question while they were laughing. "By the way, why haven’t we ever used the private man-made beach which you managed to hustle from my father?"
"Right," Chi Lian gasped, "Can you believe that I forgot all about it? Aaah," she twisted her head and grimaced, "It would have been so perfect for summer when the sun was blazing hot. I even had cabins built around in case we sleep over. I can’t believe that I forgot about it?"
"Why can’t we go tonight?" Manchu asked.
The others looked at Chi Lian and they nodded, there was no better time than now.
Manchu grabbed Chi Lian’s arm and she said softly, "I might not be able to make it to camping with the stars because my mother is suggesting that I spend the rest of my pregnancy on bed rest. I need to enjoy before that happens."
"Are you okay?" Chi Lian asked her, in a soft worried voice.
"Yes, Manchu, tell us if something hurts." Cherry said.
Rize grabbed Manchu’s other hand and held it tightly.
"I am okay, it’s my feet that are slightly swollen. My mother is exaggerating the situation and my father asked me to indulge her." Manchu explained. She did so with a smile, grateful for their support, kindness and love.
Right then she heard T4 saying, "She is fine, the little inflammation in her feet is normal in her condition. If you are so worried, but her a cream from the mall and she will be fine."
T4’s assurance made her feel better, and she calmed down. Her eyes also withdrew from Manchu’s belly because she was worried about the baby as much as she was worried about the mother. This was her first nephew, he had to come out healthy.
"Fine, let’s go to the beach." she stood up and said.
"Wooohooo!" Rize cheered.
"Hey guys, we are going to the beach." Cherry shouted in the direction of Ringo and one of the triplets.
"Which beach?" Ringo asked.
"Sister-in-law’s beach." Cherry said, "Grab what you want and let’s go."
"I will provide all the camping gear, we are sleeping out." Chi Lian added.
"We still have to pick up some things, so can we meet you there?" Ringo asked her.
"That’s okay." Chi Lian told him.
She went into the house and told Muyang about the new plan, and she also shared it with the elders and others. The children were briefly left in nanny Fang’s care to be transported while she packed up all that she deemed necessary.
Others did the same well, briefly returning home to pick up essentials.
When she returned downstairs to pick up the dogs which were joining them, Feng Wu requested that the horses join as well.
With all arrangements made, she was off to the beach.
