Chapter 644: I never said the treasure was yours.

"You crafty little bastard!!!!" Chi Lian uttered loudly and kicked a pile of rocks with so much force that they went rolling down, attracting the attention of the diggers closest to her former hiding spot.

Four pairs of eyes looked up and she abandoned that spot because even if they did not see anything, they would still come snooping.

"You need to be calmer next time." T4 told her.

"Oh, so there is a next time!" She said, clearly unhappy and exasperated. The system had made her waste an entire day and a few hours worth of time on what she could quite easily call a fruitless chase.

"I can only see and connect what the central system allows me to access host, I had no idea that the location of the treasure was in that compound itself."

For hours, she had waited for the last piece of the treasure map to be pieced together only for the true location of this mysterious treasure to be inside the very place her husband and his brothers had invaded. How much time would she have saved herself if she had simply gone directly to the compound itself? Perhaps she would have unearthed the mysterious treasure already and got done with it. For now, she chose to rant.

"A whole day T4, I lost an entire day."

"And I am not to blame." He replied.

"Ooh," she rolled her eyes and said in a deep voice, "You are to blame."

"I disagree host."

"And I insist."

"I can run a simulation factoring you, me and the central system into the equation to apportion the right degree of blame in this situation. If you are willing to depart with a few points, we can see whose fault it is."

"Oh shut up." She answered.

She strapped the harness of the flying device and set off, flying back in the direction of the rebels compound.

While T4 did shut up, she did not and as she flew, she continued to mutter.

"A day, one whole day and eight hours to be precise. Does it look like I want to die? Do you enjoy lording over me? We could have saved so much time but no!!!, you had to make me find the map first...and the whole time you could have just told me where it led."

On the virtual screen, T4 put virtual noise blockers on his ears. The host was complaining a little too much for his liking.

The emperor’s soldiers, one hundred eighty of them had arrived on the island and they had had already started stealthily finding positions to prepare themselves for entry. All Chi Lian could think about was how she was going to navigate the ruckus, probably avoid flying gun fire, save the innocent and locate that stupid treasure.

"Start with locating the treasure, that is what’s important to us." T4 contributed something in response to her thoughts.

"Who is the we you are talking about?" She responded, still bitter about all the time she had lost.

"The central system, I never said that the treasure was yours host."

She, who was now flying above the rebel stronghold stopped cold before diving down closer. Why would the treasure not be hers? Why did it belong to the system?

"Elaborate." She told him.

"When I speak of treasure you think of jewels and old things host but other things are more valuable than shiny stones. For example, you haven’t been paying attention to notice that this compound or whatever is shielded from the view of normal cameras. Your brothers-in-law searched and found nothing. Only your drone returned with positive results, why do you think that is?"

"Because I use alien technology, nothing can hide from your superior devices. I think we have already established this with the many times you have rubbed your technological superiority un my face." This was especially in the earlier days when she had just got the system. Everyday, like clockwork, he would not fail to mention the awesome technological advancement of his planet and the backwardness of hers. Over time, he had learned to curb that boastful nature of his.

Given his words at the moment, she looked down as if something could be seen from where she was or the answers could be found.

"What do you see T4?" She asked him.

"Old generation anti detection waves being released from a device that is not from your world." He answered.

"Oh," she looked down again, more interested in this stronghold than before. "Hold up!" Her head popped upright. "Do you mean to tell me that they are using alien technology to protect themselves?"

"Affirmative." T4 answered.

"How?" She asked. "Is it yours? Did your planet already do a drive by to steal resources from this world and then something was dropped off accidentally just as you were accidentally dropped."

"I do not have the answers you seek host, all you have do is the find the treasure and the mission ends. Now get moving, how and why there is alien technology we can find out as we progress."

"Wait!" She blurted out, her voice sounding urgent. "Can the waves detect me or Muyang and the others?"

She was worried now that maybe she had sent them in to be slaughtered. Perhaps they had been discovered and captured already. She thought to herself, ’I got ten more drones and I did not think even once to have them followed, stupid, stupid.’

If there was a wall close by, perhaps she would be banging her forehead softly against it.

"I said old generation host, whatever they have is like a ninety year old in your world while I am an eighteen year old. I am faster, stronger and I could run circles around these waves all night if I wanted."

"Why can’t you just say that you are the superior technology and this one is inferior. Everything must be dramatic with you." She said as she dived down like a bird and landed on top of one of the watch towers.

Then she squatted down and took out her binoculars, observing the stronghold while T4 scanned it for what was unusual. It was not as if the map on the corner of the virtual screen had a big ’x’ which marked the spot. All it said was that the treasure was here somewhere. In her mind, if the island was using alien technology to avoid detection then perhaps it was possible that someone here had already discovered this treasure wanted and put it to good use. Or maybe it was just a coincidence that they settled down on the island which happened to have anti detection alien technology. Maybe they got lucky without knowing how or why. But after all these years, they had to have been curious about what brought this luck their way and sought answers. If it was her, she would have been curious and she would definitely want answers.

The question for her was, how much had they found if they did go looking? Was it only anti detection devices or was there something else as well? Could they have alien weapons too?

If they did have alien weapons T4 would have discovered that in his scan. But then again, he seemed to be slow at putting things together in this case, unlike the usual.

"Got it," T4 declared.
