Even though father and daughter had been discussing mama Chi, they both watched her with love filled smiles on their faces. She was good wife, great mother and even greater grandmother.

"Father, do you want a taste of the corn?" Chi Lian peeled one cob and took a bite before handing it to her father to do the same if he desired.

"He came closer to Chi Lian and her father excused himself, giving them some room to speak privately.

She beamed proudly and nodded, "The emperor was right to place his faith in me, I am Midas Chi after all. This output is double of the harvest he expected you know. I am sure that the seeds will be able to withstand the harsh weather in the north where he intends to send them. In a few years, hunger will be a thing of the past in our empire, no, in the world."

She on the other hand shook her head and her arms and gave the butler a look of disbelief. "You are just like your boss Mr. butler, always tricking me with your words. I have not made any such declarations."

The royal butler turned his attention back to the fields and he stood still, with his hands behind his back. He gave off the aura of a landlord watching over his many fields or tenants. "Is there a reward you want for this accomplishment?"

"No." she replied without a hint of hesitation and she could see the surprise in his eyes.

"Did I mishear you?" he inquired.

"You heard me right, I want nothing in exchange for this. The emperor gave me the seeds not for selfish reasons but to solve the food crisis in some of the most impoverished regions of the empire. If he wanted it for himself I would have charged a fee, after all he can afford it. Don’t be too surprised Mr. Butler, I too, am a citizen of our empire and I have a generous heart."

If there are more demands for us you can share the information at any moment and we will do our best to fulfil them." she sounded confident because madam An, her grandmother had taken charge and prepared everything personally. "Won’t you ask if we are ready too?" he suddenly asked her with a light laugh.

"Eh," she replied slowly, "You are the royal family, it’s impossible for you not to be ready for the wedding."
