Transmigration: Lady Chi Woos The Ice cold Professor Jun -
Chapter 573: The scientific park delivers.
Chapter 573: The scientific park delivers.
That evening, many eyes were on the phoenix news with the expectation of seeing an announcement about the treasure. It was the most talked about topic in the streets, in malls and everywhere else in the empire. The most common question on the tongues of the people was, ’how much do you think it’s worth?’.
Once it became clear that Chi Lian was back, everyone that was close to her called or sent messages asking about it and all she said was watch the evening news. She even posted about it on her official weibo page.
@Officila Lady Midas Chi: [Watch phoenix news for world changing news tonight, it will be something we all treasure.]
She added two winking face emoticons to the post an laughed knowing all too well that the news would not say a word about the treasure.
"Oh, Chi-Chi, you are so evil for doing this." The old madam and old master giggled because they knew all too well that there would be no mention of the treasure the people wanted to know about. Chi-Chi was really good at teasing and misdirection.
So when the news was read that evening, what they expected and what they got was quite different.
"Artificial blood, what is it and how will it affect the world of science?" a news anchor said.
The comments under her post online after the seven o’clock news were as expected.
[Where is the treasure Lady Chi I feel so cheated right now.]
[Come out of hiding and explain your lies, this is betrayal of the highest form.]
[What treasure!!, Midas Chi should be liar Chi.]
[Congratulations on your lab for achieving such world changing results.]
[It’s just blood what about it is worth being called a treasure?]
A different kind of post appeared under thousands of mixed comments which T4 pushed to the fore front.
[As someone that suffers from anemia I am so happy to know that I will not always have to watch my father cross his fingers and hope that my rare blood type is available in the hospital. Some of you are talking about gold and other treasures but you don’t know that this kind of universal blood is a treasure to some like me. Do you know what it’s like sitting in a hospital and anxiously hoping that someone somewhere walks in with a matching blood type. At times, people even refuse to donate and help. Blood is precious and being able to live is the greatest treasure of life.]
That one comment brought out others with different illnesses like cancer, hemophilia, sickle cells and others who shared their stories about blood transfusions, it’s rarities at times, it’s dangers and other related things.
Other comments were not directly aimed at her but she was still tagged by commenters directly or indirectly.
@Official minister of health: [Congratulations Professor Chao and his team at the pear scientific park under Miss Chi Lian on this ground breaking research. Our empire is very proud to be at the forefront of such a scientific discovery.]
@Offcial Royal family: [The royal family would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our honorable scientist Professor Chao and all of his team on this great achievement. It is such drive and determination that will make us the leading empire in the sciences. The emperor would like to send his heartfelt sincerity to the team personally at the palace.]
There were other messages like that online from different ministries, and the phones in the communication department of the lab were ringing off the hook. Professor Chao’s entire academic life and research projects were quickly put out for the world to see. She was sure that more than one lab around the world would try to recruit him. He had already renewed a contract with her even though he was not sure what his next project would be. But even if he chose to live, without her guidance, it would not be easy for him to achieve something like this ever again.
As always, she contacted bear to handle the sale of the artificial blood procedures to different interested pharmaceutical companies around the world. She was not going to produce the blood on her own, just as she would not be keeping any of the other things which came out of the lab. They would be sold off and she would sit back and enjoy royalties forever. Even after she was dead, her children would get those royalties and so would their children for as long as the world continued and those things were used.
"Congratulations." she received a message from the emperor’s number.
"Thank you." she texted back.
"How much for the submersible?"
"Talk to my husband."
With that, the emperor or the royal butler who was texting on his behalf disappeared. Chi Lian was in the apartment alone with the children, waiting for Muyang to return so that they could finally go home, to their real house which had long been finished now.
She was feeding the children some pumpkin puree slowly as they watched cartoons after the news. Rose was sitting at the dining table doing the homework assignment her tutor had assigned her a wee ago. She had been playing all this time that the work was not done. The girl needed more supervision it seemed.
Muyang returned when she was wiping the children’s lips.
"Hubby, welcome home." she looked up from little monk’s face and said to him.
"Good evening uncle." Rose waved and Mei-Mei jumped up and launched herself at her father.
Muyang greeted them all and he said to Chi Lian, "Congratulations, I saw the news on my way here. You are going to save many lives and rake in money while doing it."
"Thank you hubby, it was a group effort." She had to give credit where it was due because it was not her that did the experiments or spent her nights up comparing results and writing any of the research work. That was professor Chao and his team.
"It’s time for us to go home." he said.
"To our new house?" Rose who had been eavesdropping jumped up and asked eagerly, "In the courts?" the girl’s sparkling eyes betrayed her desire to return to the courts where she had many friends and she was closer to school. Then again, they were living in the capital which had everything that was fun. The cold town was still quiet because the population was mostly adults.
"Mmm," Muyang nodded. "We will be living alone as a family from now on and you young lady will have to help your aunt around the house more."
"Yes uncle." Rose replied.
"No staying out late or I will ground you, I am not going to let you fly free like your grandmother does." he reminded her. It was true that the old madam gave Rose so much freedom that she could return home at ten on a school night. That would not be flying by Muyang, by eight she would have to be home.
"Yes uncle." she replied with a small pout.
They bid the elders goodbye and left for the capital, to the house which was simply hers and Muyang’s. Throughout the journey in the car, Chi Lian kept trying not to laugh joyfully at the fact that she had a house in the capital. Not an apartment but a house with a land deed that was in her name. How many people in the empire could boast about such a thing?
