Chapter 396: Breakfast with a new family

Muyang thought about his grandmother’s question for a few seconds. What could be done to cheer his wife up?

"She will be fine, every woman goes through this during the early days of their marriage. It doesn’t matter how much you love your husband, you still feel blue because you are leaving your parents home to start your own family. This hits hardest when you have been pampered at home." He Weili came to the dining room and answered the question which she had overheard from a small distance away.

Behind her, two maids were bringing in the children that were awake. They were dressed in onesies and Mei-Mei was rubbing her eyes and yawning.

"Aww, how does Mei-Mei just keep getting more adorable every time I see her" one of the triplets who was also just arriving said.

More people poured into the dining room like the rest of the triplets and their parents. Tomorrow was the lunar new year and everyone had returned home to celebrate it.

After a round of polite greeting all around, everyone settled down around the table. The chair to the immediate right side of Muyang was left empty.

"Muyang, is your bride still sleeping?" his aunt the mother of the triplets asked.

"Hmm." he responded.

"Should I take her out shopping?" The old madam asked Muyang.

Muyang had seen Chi Lian’s attitude the few times they had gone shopping together and she was not enthusiastic about it. Alternatively if he had seen her shopping in the system mall he would change his mind.

The only thing that held her back from owning nothing but alien items was the fact that she needed points to buy things in the mall and not actual cash. When she used actual cash, Jaggert had to purchase the things in his world and T4 would store them in her storage space.

Even then, she only shopped for important things not frivolous ones like ordinary clothes.

"I will take her to the horse racing track grandma, I am sure it will please her immensely."

The old madam nodded in approval.

The old master cleared his throat and attention was given to him. "I have finally decided on Little monk’s name., he will be Mengze. I hope that he will grow up to be a kind man despite the hardships he endured in his early stage of life."

The two grandchildren were being carried by the elders with Mei-Mei in the old madam’s arms and little monk in the old master’s arms.

Chi Lian came strolling into the living room, her presence was accompanied by the fresh smell of strawberries. Muyang smelled her before he even saw her.

"That’s a great name grandfather." she said.

"Good morning everyone, sorry I woke up late." Chi Lian looked at them all apologetically.

She was feeling quite embarrassed because if her grandmother was here, she would be looking at her with a very disappointed look in her eyes because this was one of the few pieces of advice she had given her.

The old madam waved her apology away as if it was totally unnecessary, "You have nothing to apologize for dear, your mother-in-law and your aunt also woke up late on their first day. You have managed to wake up in time for breakfast but Weili here slept till noon."

"Mother." He Weili said in a disgruntled voice.

"I remember that were just about to have lunch when she came out of the bedroom." The old madam continued when she saw Chi Lian smiling.

The old madam felt the urge to continue talking when she saw Chi Lian’s smile. She was feeling sorry for her because she could see how puffy and swollen her eyes were. Muyang had not been exaggerating when he said she spent half the night crying.

Muyang pulled out the chair for her and she sat down.

"After breakfast, I will introduce you to all the servants in the house. You must feel free around here because this is your home now dear." The old madam told her.

"Yes grandmother." Chi Lian replied in a soft voice.

"Oh, she is so adorable." Muyang’s aunt said. "She is polite, calm and well mannered. When will I get a daughter-in-law like this? Weili, I envy you so much."

He Weili looked smug as if she was the one that found Chi Lian for her son.

"You brats," Muyang’s uncle said, "Learn from your elder brother and stop giving your mother sleepless nights."

All they wanted were daughters-in-law and children, why were they dragging their feet. There were so many beautiful women in the world and he did not understand why his sons were acting blind.

"Father, I went on two blind dates last week." Triplet one said.

"I went on four." Triplet two said.

"I went on six." Triplet three added.

His brothers glared at him, six blind dates in one week! Whose leg was he trying to pull? At least they were keeping their numbers reasonable.

"You brats really think that we are fools." The old madam commented. She then looked at the triplet one and said, "You showed up at your date with fake long hair and beards and claimed that you were joining some kind of monastery and moving to a kingdom called Jamaica. I have pictures in my phone to prove it. You have gone as far as to invent nonexistent kingdoms to avoid marriage."

"Grandma, Jamaica is a real kingdom." Triplet one informed her.

"Hey, do you think I am a fool."

"It’s real." Muyang said.

"Muyang are you conniving with him to deceive me, bring the map of the world and show me that place."

"Grandma, it’s a real kingdom." Chi Lian also said. "It was a former colony of the British empire."

"Oh," the old madam was taken back. "If Chi-Chi says it’s real then it must be real, she is a good girl who does not tell lies unlike you." She said.

Triplet one could not believe this. "Grandma, I am the grandson you personally raised, how can you not believe me?"

"Because you tell lies for a living." The old madam answered blatantly.

They all knew that number one worked in the intelligence department. When it came to those people, ninety nine percent of the words that came out of their lips were lies. They could assure you that a bomb explosion was a building demolition. They could go on television and say the empire is peaceful when at that exact moment they were raiding an active rebel cell.

He could point to a tiger and assure you that it’s an overgrown stripped cat. The old madam never trusted number one’s words at all.

Number one too did not have any defense for his grandmother’s response. He told lies for national defense not for fun. Well, he did tell lies to get out of blind dates and uncomfortable situations but that was a different situation. How could he marry when he was always suspicious of the motives of those strangers that approached him?
