Chapter 322: Bolin’s crush
Chapter 322: Bolin’s crush
Wang Xie gave the short version of the story but mama Chi got the general idea. She was not unwanted; she was simply unlucky to end up in the circumstances she found herself in. Her mother and father too had suffered greatly because of what happened all those years ago.
What right did she have to be bitter or angry at them over something that they had no control over? Her mother was also in a wheel chair. When she first met madam An, she had glanced at her quite a few times because of it but she was not the type to ask strangers about their pains. But now, this was no stranger, she was her own mother so she could ask.
"Mother, your legs..." Mama Chi said hesitantly.
"Mother lost her legs in that accident." Wang Xue quickly filled her in and mama Chi’s face looked pained once more.
On seeing that her youngest newly found daughter was upset, madam An hurried to say, "Don’t worry about that, I have been in this chair for so many years now that it doesn’t bother me anymore. Oh, look at me; I have not introduced you to the rest of the family present here today. This is your father Wang Shiqing."
Old master Wang was confused about why he was being introduced because he had already clearly identified himself as her father. "My wife, our daughter has already met me."
"Will you die if I introduce you again?" Madam An responded with sass.
Mama Chi giggled; her mother was definitely packing an attitude.
"Dear, can I get a hug?" Old master Wang requested softly. He did not use his regular tough voice; he was speaking as if mama Chi was a toddler. He was using the voice his wife had said was appropriate for children.
His eyes were glued to mama Chi, gazing at her tenderly like she was precious silver. They were filled with so much hope.
"Father," Mama Chi called out in a coquettish voice which not only shocked her but her husband and children.
Then she stood up and embraced him tightly, wishing with all her heart that the events of the past had not happened. How amazing would it have been to be raised with by a protective, strong father like this?
After sniveling once more for a while, she stepped out of his embrace and returned to her seat.
"I have never seen grandfather look like that." Wang Tong whispered to Bolin.
Bolin scoffed and said, "You are going to see a lot of new things in this family from now on." He was not just saying it randomly, he knew Chi Lian a little bit from the little interactions between them and the stories Chi Wei told him often.
She was bullheaded, determined and fearless. Too fearless in his opinion because she was the only civilian he had ever seen bargain with minister Su and come out victorious. If his grandfather tried to impose their family rules on the Chi’s he would fall flat on his face.
He needed to have a talk with his grandfather about this as soon as possible. He did not want unnecessary misunderstandings to arise within the family.
Madam An continued introducing mama Chi to the rest of the relatives who had come meanwhile. "This is your oldest brother Wang Siming, your second brother Wang Cang and your sister Wang Xue." Mama Chi smiled happily at each one of them. They all responded by hugging her tightly.
Madam An continued, "This is your nephew Bolin."
"Oh, I already know Bolin, he is Chi Wei’s friend that had a crush on Chi-Chi." Mama Chi blurted.
Wang Tong laughed out loud and so did everyone one at this new information.
"I did not." Wang Bolin denied vehemently.
"Yes you did." Chi Wei insisted. "If she was not with Muyang you would have tried to date Chi-Chi."
"Eww, gross, Bolin she is our sister." Wang Zhou said as he laughed.
Old master Wang could see that this was going to overcloud the occasion so he stepped in by coughing as a warning. The Wang’s understood the warning so they stopped giggling loudly.
"Bolin, we don’t want any scandals." He cautioned.
"Grandfather!!!" Bolin responded in an outraged voice and bent his head down to hide his embarrassment.
Madam An made more introductions and when the Wang’s were over, mama Chi introduced her own family from her husband to Chi Zimo;
Madam An held onto Papa Chi’s hand and said, "Thank you son-in-law, for everything that you have done for my Nuo. Her life turned around for the better after she met you, I don’t know what would have happened if you had not been there for her, you are a wonderful man, the most kind and honorable person I have ever met."
Papa Chi blushed at all this praise he was receiving. "Mother-in-law, it’s my wife that is kind and honorable." He replied.
"Look at that, he is also down to earth." Old master Wang smiled approvingly.
"No, you are an honorable man," Madam An insisted, "my husband has already investigated and we know the burden you had to carry by marrying Nuo. You had to provide for those wicked people financially, half of your earnings went to building their family."
Papa Chi answered, "Mother-in-law..."
"Who are you calling mother-in-law?" Madam An cut him off and said, "Call me mother."
Papa Chi was slightly taken back, perhaps he did not imagine that he would willingly be embraced by the Wang’s so quickly.
"Hurry, call me mother." Madam insisted. "Or do you not consider me to be your mother?"
Quickly, Papa Chi shook his head and said, "Mo—mother."
Madam An smiled smoothly and said, "You see, that was not so hard. We are all one big family, from now on Shiqing is your father and I am your mother. We were told that your real parents are gone so from now on; consider us to be your real parents.
Do not hesitate to come to us if there is any problem at home or at work. We will do our best to help you in every way possible."
Papa Chi surprisingly sniveled as well because he never got this treatment from his fake mother-in-law. She had not been kind to him even once and the only time she spoke to him politely was when she wanted to request for more money. Even then, the politeness only lasted for a few seconds before she started shouting as usual.
"Yes, we are your parents from now on." Old master Wang added his voice.
The environment was jovial and less teary. Everyone was wearing a smile as they looked at each other with satisfied hearts.
The atmosphere was ruined when Bolin’s stomach grumbled and all eyes turned to him.
"He-he, sorry, I am a little bit hungry." He explained.
