Transmigration: Lady Chi Woos The Ice cold Professor Jun -
Chapter 288: Reassurance
Chapter 288: Reassurance
She was like a little child who was worried about the anger of her parents after making a mess.
Chi Wei chuckled softly and replied assuredly, "No, she is not mad, she is just sad."
After receiving such heartbreaking news, their mother was just drained, in his opinion. She had no reason to be angry with Chi-Chi.
"Trust me Chi-Chi, mother just needs to rest for a while and digest this news. We can’t blame her for being shocked or reacting the way she has, we were shocked too." He further said.
Chi Lian sighed and wiped the last of her tears away, choosing to believe in Chi Wei’s words. She had calmed down and she was suffocating now because her very tall brothers were squeezing her too tightly in their circle.
"Guys, can you let me go now?" she said.
"Will you cry again?" Chi Wei asked.
She shook her head, "No," she replied, "I will not cry anymore. We should look for that old woman immediately and find out what she knows before mother does. If mother confronts her before we do, she will be swindled and cajoled by those people easily."
There was a sound of buzzing, someone was at the door and the four siblings stepped out of the hug. Secretly, Chi Zimo run away and washed his face. When Chi Lian cried, he cried too and he did not want anyone to know.
"Who is at the door?" She asked.
"I will check." Chi Rui answered.
Immediately when he opened the front door, Muyang entered the house with a worried expression on his face.
"Brother-in-law," Chi Rui said.
Muyang nodded in acknowledgement and he asked, "What happened, I received a call informing me that mother-in-law was rushed to the hospital?"
Muyang was suddenly shoved and everyone craned their necks to see who was bold enough to shove the ’Jun Muyang.’
It was the old madam, Muyang’s grandmother. Apparently, she had rushed here too but when Muyang entered, he blocked the door way prompting her to shove him.
"Grandma!" Muyang said in a complaining voice.
"Get out of the way, you are not the only one who is worried about the in-laws." The old madam replied. Boldly, she entered the house, her husband and the triplets followed with little monk and Mei-Mei being carried by two of them.
"We came as soon as we heard Chi-Chi, what happened?" the old madam specifically approached Chi Lian and asked.
In her bright red dress, with glittering studs, the old madam was the shortest but most outstanding person within the circle.
"It’s nothing major grandma, mum just received some shocking news and she briefly fainted." Chi Lian answered. Her voice was stuffy like that of someone who was about to come down with the flu.
"How can it be nothing when your eyes and nose are red? The old madam refused to accept her answer. "It must be something very major for you to have cried. Even my best grandson little Zimo looks like he has been crying."
"Grandma, I have not been crying." Chi Zimo uttered in denial immediately.
But his red swollen eyes could not be hidden. He could was his face ten thousand times if he wanted but the proof was there.
"Zimo, are you calling your grandmother a liar?" the old madam asked.
Chi Zimo was caught between a rock and a hard place. He neither wanted to admit that he had been crying nor did he want to call the old madam a liar.
He settled for whining, "Grandma," he said childishly, "You are going to embarrass your favorite grandson." He even approached the old madam and took her hand in his.
The old madam smiled slightly, "Fine, my big strong grandson is like a robot, he has no emotions so he cannot cry."
"Yes." Chi Zimo nodded.
The old madam turned her attention back to Chi Lian and she looked at her expectantly, waiting for an explanation.
"I think we should move this conversation to the living room." The old master suggested.
They could not keep standing around near the entrance of the door, the butler had called all the maids to come out when he saw visitors and they were all staring at them.
They were trying hard not to look overly interested in the events happening at the moment but if they continued discussing the matters from here then the maids would be dragged in inevitably.
Moreover, sometimes maids liked to talk to other people’s maids when they were running errands. It was not impossible for these ones to share what they heard here with others.
"Bring us some refreshments," Chi Wei told the butler.
They moved to the living room and sat in different chairs but close together. Muyang and little monk of course stuck to Chi Lian like glue. Father took possession of one hand and son copied his father, taking possession of her other hand. Mei-Mei went off to the kitchen probably to hunt for something sweet to eat.
In fact it wasn’t probable, it was a fact. Mei-Mei’s favorite place in the house was the kitchen. It was the room where sweet things were kept after all.
"What happened?" the old master asked calmly.
Chi Lian was wondering whether bringing the Jun’s into this without talking to their mother first was a good idea because it was her story to tell when Chi Zimo beat her to it. His gossipy mouth opened and started talking about what happened without leaving a single detail out.
"Our wicked grandmother is not our grandmother at all." He said. "Sister did a secret DNA test which proves that she is not our mum’s biological mother. All these years, that wicked woman has been mistreating our mother knowing fully well that she is not her own daughter."
"What?" the old madam blurted out in shock.
"I know, I was shocked as well when I found out, all these years grandmother, aunt and uncle sucked everything from our family like vampires deliberately. They have always known it." Chi Zimo said while shaking his head.
"Do you know that I once overheard aunt saying to mother that she only existed to take care of her family?" He further said.
"What?" Chi Wei asked.
