Chapter 236: Muyang’s anger was like thunder
For now, her people were riding off to safety so she could relax a little bit. She would relax more when they confirmed that they had reached the phoenix building.
Chi Lian continued to understand the ruthlessness of this world every passing day. It was no different from the original earth she came from. She needed to quicken her plans to become stronger as soon as possible in order to protect her children from people who would wish to see them dead.
Not only did they wish for their death, they went as far as to see to it. Poor Fu Jui, he would probably have nightmares tonight.
"Host I would advise you to take the gene editing serum as soon as possible. I can also get you a set of boxing techniques our soldiers use to train their bodies after they use the serum."
T4’s words were a reminder that she had the means to become stronger; she had just not used it yet.
She took the two gene editing serums from her storage and observed the light blue liquid.
"Why is it blue?" she asked the system.
"One of the ingredients is a blue root from a flower that grows in between the rocks of the Asherdeen mountains. You won’t understand what the flowers are are so just swallow the serum already." The system replied impatiently.
She put one of the serums down to give to Muyang later, swirled the one meant for her, closed her eyes and downed the contents at once.
Her body felt hot and prickly initially but nothing else much. Even her physical appearance seemed to be the same.
"Huh, is that it?" she asked the system. She was expecting to roll around on the floor in unimaginable pain just as she did when she took the full body health capsule.
"Do you feel the heat in your lower abdomen?" T4 asked.
"Yes," she responded instantly. It was comfortable warmth.
"From now on you have to be physically active to maintain that warmth the way it is. These portions are not used by the lazy. Until your body gets used to the effects of the portion, you have to be as active as possible."
Chi Lian who was inside of a plane, somewhere where she could not carry out any physical activity was perplexed. What was she supposed to do?
"Host, I got you the boxing techniques, you can box around in here." The system cheerfully replied to her unvoiced worries.
Chi Lian looked around the bedroom, there was barely enough space for any kind boxing or jumping or kicking.
The door opened and Muyang entered the room with his eyes darting around in search of Chi Lian.
"What are you doing?" he asked when he saw her.
"I want to do some physical activities but there is no room for that on the plane." She answered.
He grinned and wiggled his eyebrows playfully, in a manner that was so unlike him. "I know a physical activity we can both engage in right now." He said.
He was now on the bed, in a kneeling position and he pulled her down to embrace her.
She pushed his hands away and sighed. First, she needed to tell him about the threat their children were facing.
"Muyang," she said grimly, "We should talk for a while seriously, someone wants to kill our baby or babies." She uttered.
"What?" he asked sternly. His raised voice contained none of the teasing tone it carried earlier. "Who dares to touch a child of the Jun family?"
"I don’t know yet." She answered him, "What I know so far is that when word went around about our search for a missing son, someone followed me all the way to Xunwai from the emperor’s courts."
She further went on to fill him in on all the details of how she was followed, how Piggy found Fu Jui and the accident which had just happened.
By the time she was finished narrating the unpleasant tale, Muyang was looking at her with harshness in his eyes that she did not expect. One that she had never seen in regards to herself.
"Muyang," she called his name anxiously.
"Do you not trust me, Chi Lian?" he asked her coldly and loudly.
She had not heard him refer to her by her full name so coldly like this. Not even when they were strangers. He had never been this angry with her, so angry that his voice was like the roaring of thunder on a rainy night.
He was really angry with her this time, she realized.
She opened her mouth and called his name, "Muyang..." she wanted to explain.
But he cut her off. He was not allowing her to get a single word in for now.
"Am I just a useless man to you? Do I seem so powerless like I cannot protect you or our children? You have been back from Xunwai for weeks now and yet you said nothing about this. You investigated in the dark without saying a word to me." He said furiously.
"Muyang..." her desperate voice called his name again. She touched his shoulder and he shrugged her hand away immediately, rejecting her touch.
"Where you going to tell me after this hidden enemy killed one or both of our children?" he said with anger and pain in his voice.
"I am sorry." She said in a soft voice.
Chi Lian knew that she was wrong; there was no denying her faults in this situation. She had kept a secret from him that was directly related to the safety of their children.
Big fat tears suddenly fell down from her eyes; she was feeling so suffocated and frightened. His cold anger and gaze were too much for her to bear. He did not even want to look at her.
"Stop crying." She heard him say in a softer voice this time.
Rather than stop, she increased the intensity of her sobs.
She felt herself being pulled into his arms and she wrapped her hands around him. "I am sorry," she wailed loudly. "I won’t keep such a dangerous secret from you again."
Muyang could not help but sigh. Her pitiful cries were tugging at his heart strings. He was angry with her and yet he could not stand to see her crying, especially when he was the cause of her tears. When he started berating her, he had not expected her to suddenly burst into tears. He just wanted her to stop taking on all the threats to herself and their family alone.
She had him, why was she so reluctant to rely on him? Had he not done enough to make her feel secure in the relationship?
"You always say that and yet you continue to do the same thing." He said as he rubbed her back. "Stop crying like a baby, I am not mad anymore." He wanted to ease out of the hug and look at her directly but she would not let him go.
"Promise me that you won’t ever look at me like that or reject my touch." She said seriously in a childish tone.
