Chapter 221: ridiculous fans
Chi Rui groaned and mumbled something into the pillow on the chair.
"You are going to have to be louder than that brother, I didn’t hear you." She said calmly.
"I said," Chi Rui lifted his head up and then properly sat in the chair. "The movie the ’queen Wu Jing’ is about to be released. The trailer was released yesterday and it’s already giving me a headache. The shooting of the movie and press tour was so smooth I knew something had to give eventually. I am telling you sis, the other shoe has dropped."
He had said so much and Chi Lian still understood so little. "Brother you are going to have to stop speaking in tongues because I don’t understand you."
"Jian Yu’s fans and Lu Beibei’s fans are fighting already. Now some in each group, a couple of people are saying they won’t go and see the movie. Isn’t this taking money out of my pocket? I need you to help me find a solution to this sis, the PR team is stuck." He whined. He had a pained look on his face as if he could see the money flying away right before his eyes.
"Why are they fighting?" she asked. The more information she had, the more helpful she could be.
Chi Rui closed and clenched his fists, and then he opened his mouth as if he was silently screaming.
Chi Lian could guess that whatever it was, it was probably a foolish fight.
When he finished his actions, he said, "Lu Beibei plays the part of young Wu Jing in the movie. Of course after her parts were over, Jian Yu took over her role as the grown up Wu Jing. Now Beibei’s fans are complaining about why she was not allowed to play the role of older Wu Jing by simply using make up to make her look older. "
"That’s foolish." Chi Lian replied. Why do all that when someone else was already prepared to play that role. Besides, the older Wu Jing needed to be taller, colder and meaner. Jian Yu could pull that off easily. "Just have Beibei explain things to her fans."
"Oh...if you think Beibei fans are foolish then you haven’t met Jian Yu’s fans." He said enthusiastically. "They on the other hand are claiming that with makeup, Jian Yu the almost thirty year old woman could play the role of sixteen year old Wu Jing. To them Beibei was an unnecessary addition to the movie."
Chi Lian guffawed and covered her eyes. Eventually she just started laughing loudly. Both of these actresses had ridiculous fans.
"They are all crazy." She told Chi Rui while she was gasping for air.
"Tell me about it." He replied in frustration. "I don’t know which side to support. Both of them are actresses with our company. We don’t want to uplift one while trashing the other."
Chi Lian sneakily got her phone and typed something.
"What are you doing?" Chi Rui asked.
"Nothing." She answered with a sly smile.
Chi Rui knew better than to trust her, he knew her too well so he got his own phone and checked his weibo. Indeed, she had posted something.
Official Lady Chi Lian: [To age or not to age, that is the question. #the queen Wu Jing.]
"Really sis," Chi Rui looked at her in doting disappointment, "I can’t believe you are egging people on like this." He shook his head in bewilderment.
"Any press when promoting a movie is good press." She shrugged and answered.
"Not when people are vowing not to see the movie. I need you to use that beautiful brain of yours to come up with an idea. How do we solve this without offending all their fans?" he asked once more.
"Just give them a common enemy as long as they are fighting someone else they will not be fighting each other." She answered instantly. Wasn’t it one of the strategies in the art of war or somewhere else? She could not remember where she had read it but she knew that it worked.
"Brilliant sis, I knew you were the right person to come to." He jumped up from the chair and grabbed her daughter and spun her around. "Niece, your mother really is the best." He kissed Mei-Mei’s cheek twice and placed her down.
"Aren’t you getting too excited too soon?" she asked, "The first person you should identify is the common enemy you want them to fight."
"Oh." He said. She had certainly put a dumper on his excitement rather quickly. "I should go and talk to the PR team, maybe we can find a common enemy between the two groups of fans."
"Wait," she rashly called him before he could leave. "I am taking the children downstairs to the cafeteria, carry one." She shoved little monk into his arms and then she carried Mei-Mei.
Together, they left her office while the babies babbled on endlessly.
"Why are you going to the cafeteria?" her brother asked. "Didn’t you all have breakfast before leaving? I also heard that you were leaving for Nanjing in sea city to take a vacation, just you, Muyang and the kids."
"Well that’s the plan, it’s why I need to get as much work as possible done before Friday." she answered cheerfully.
She was excited for that trip to Nanjing, just her Muyang and the kids at the beach. She would finally test her submarine and maybe find some treasure.
Chi Rui looked down at her glowing face and he smiled secretly." You seem to be in an awfully good mood all of a sudden. Is it because I mentioned the trip?" he inquired.
"What else could it be?" she replied teasing him with her cheeky smile.
"Maybe I should join you, help you keep an eye on the little ones....." he was suggesting before she rudely cut him off.
"No." she blurted out immediately. She could remember all too clearly what happened on her last vacation where her relatives decided to follow her even though she was against it. She ended up dying without having any fun.
While she loved her family, it was also good to get away from them occasionally and just enjoy some personal time with her children and their father.
Meanwhile, Chi Rui was looking at her with utter disbelief in his eyes. "Wow, little sister, you didn’t have to shout at me like that. No wonder they say a grown girl cannot be kept at home, you are so desperate to enjoy time alone with Muyang..."
"Hey..." she shouted at him really loudly, stunning the children and the employees who were passing by just as the elevator doors opened.
Mei-Mei was so stunned that she started to cry. The employees walked away quickly in fear that the boss’s anger would land on them.
She glared at Chi Rui and said, "See what you have caused now."
