Chapter 209: Little monk the genius

The two of them giggled and inevitably woke up the sleeping baby in the bed. He yawned and stretched adorably.

"Aww," Chi Lian found his little adorable self to be extremely cute. Her hands reached out to pat his head and then she remembered that he had no hair.

The baby gave the two of them the same look from back in the lab, unimpressed, cold and kind of arrogant, just like his father.

"Hai, he even makes the same face you make every day, doesn’t he know that he is a child, children should be smiling and running mindlessly after butterflies."

"I did not run after butterflies as a child." Muyang answered from behind her.

He was joining her because the little baby had kicked his hand that was massaging his foot away.

"T4, scan him now." she said. Then she smiled at him and said, "Baby I am mummy, I am your real mummy." She emphasized. "Baby, you are so cute, you must be the cutest little boy in the world."

Little monk as he had been nicknamed by Muyang looked at her blankly and raised his eyes up and down.

"Did he just roll his eyes at me?" she asked Muyang in shock. She thought maybe her eyes were deceiving her. It was late, perhaps she was sleep deprived.

"I think he did, or maybe we have both lost our minds." He answered unsurely. Then he came to the front of the bed and bent over little monk’s face, looking into his eyes for deeper observation.

Little monk looked away to the left and refused to look at him. Muyang went around to the left and little monk moved his head to the right.

Chi Lian snorted and quickly covered her mouth. Little monk either had a high IQ or whatever they did in that lab had made his brain develop quicker than normal children.

"T4, aren’t you done with that scan?" she asked urgently. She needed to know if little monk was mentally alright.

"Oh I finished the scan; I was just trying to wake myself up from shock." T4 told her in a perplexed voice.

"Why? Is something wrong with my son?"

"Well, it’s not that something is wrong per say but it’s more like I didn’t expect to come across another person like this in your world. It’s both a good and a bad thing, depending on how you choose to see it host." T4 explained so cryptically that she could not even begin to guess what he meant by his words.

"Stop mincing your words, just come out and say it." She replied.

"Well, for one he has an SSS mental strength level, he is a little genius. Now in my world, it would be a cause for celebration because another talent has been born. However, in your world, his mental strength is going to remain mostly untapped and go to waste. I was really right in matching you with Muyang, just look at his offspring; all of them are so worthy." He gushed.

She rolled her eyes, she couldn’t help but think that she needed to start up a jar and put one Yuan in for every time T4 gushed over Muyang or something to do with him.

"Is that what you meant by a bad thing?" she asked.

"No, the bad thing is the fact that that baby can understand most of the things you say and he has the retention strength of a sponge soaking up water. Basically, the more his vocabulary grows, the more he understands. Raising such a child is going to tax you in so many ways. Sadly, everything that happened in that lab, he remembers fully, well most of it anyway. I am inclined to believe that he is holding a grudge against both of you now that you have identified yourselves as his parents. It’s going to be incredibly challenging for you to gain his trust."

Her eyes moved to little monk who was still playing the ’don’t look at me, I don’t want to see your face’ game with his father.

"Oh, this is really bad," she said worriedly. "Can we erase his memory?"

"Nope, memory wiping serums do not work on people with S mental strength levels and above. Well, he is still a child so you could try."

She smiled in relief.

"However," T4 continued, "You can only do that at your own risk, in case it ends up frying his mind completely and he becomes a retard I bare no blame."

Now Chi Lian was stuck, should she risk it or just accept the temporary dislike of her son. It had to be temporary because she was going to do everything possible to make him love her just as much as loved him.

Given the risk involved with wiping his memory, there was no way she was going to wipe it; she could only hope that with all the love and care she showered on him, the bad memories faded.

"Your grandmother is okay, she just needs to rest." The old master came into the room and announced. He was just in time to see little monk’s head move. Joyfully and curiously, he approached the bed and observed the little boy. "Little one," he said after a while, "I am your great grandfather, I thank Buddha that we found you alive and well. I am so glad that we found you in time, I don’t know what would have happened to us if something happened to you." He said weakly.

"Grandfather," Chi Lian called him softly. The old master was about to cry tears of joy.

"Little one, just blame your father, he was very irresponsible and he made your mother suffer on her own with the pregnancy. If we had known, you and your sister would have been born safely in the hospital with your entire family waiting to love, protect and embrace you. I hope you live a healthy life from now on." The old master took off the locket around his neck and tied it around the neck of the little boy who was looking at him curiously.

On the side, Chi Lian smiled slyly and apologized to Muyang in her heart. Since grandfather had already thrown him under the bus, he might as well stay there for a while.

She approached her son and held his little hand. "Yes, little monk, blame your father." She also said.
