Chapter 208: Little monk

Meanwhile, at the hospital, the doctor finally wheeled the little baby out of the treatment room and he was placed in the largest VIP room, on a soft bed with all the extravagant luxuries and comforts the family had managed to bring.

Anxiously, everyone followed behind the doctor, crowding the room fully to the point that there was no space left for anyone else to squeeze in.

The doctor turned around and he appeared to become speechless at the sight before his eyes. This little boy was really loved by his family. They were practically stepping on each other’s toes just to check on him.

"Aren’t you all uncomfortable?" he asked.

"No." Muyang answered for everyone. "Just tell us what you have discovered, is my son going to be okay?"

Suddenly another three people squeezed into the room, and everyone craned their heads backwards to see who else was intruding on the already crowded room.

"I am here, Muyang." Chi Lian shouted from the back.

"Let her through," the old master hurriedly made everyone squeeze together to create a path and space for her.

"This is not necessary; I will talk loudly to make sure that you can all hear me." The doctor suggested. There was no need for the uncomfortable situation of body pressed against body.

"That’s the child’s mother, she needs to be close." The old master informed the doctor. Then he said to Ringo," Go and bring someone to knock down these two walls. This room is too small."

Ringo was unwilling to go; he frowned and looked at the bed.

"Go, I will tell you everything the doctor says, or better still, you can find the doctor on your own and have him fill you in. Once we enlarge the room, everyone can comfortably stay here." The old master explained himself.

Ringo nodded and left. With one person gone, there was a little space created so they could stretch a little bit.

With the mother and father present, the doctor opened his mouth to update them. "From my examination, he is not physically injured however he does have some malnutrition issues. His motor skills are good but I think his oral skills need some work. He refused to talk no matter how much we coaxed him. He did not even fuss when the nurse brought out the syringe to draw some blood. Most children that age are very scared of injections, some adults too."

Mama Chi looked at Chi Rui and he pretended that he did not notice her pointed look.

"There are some indentations on his head but those will go away soon. May I ask what you have been feeding him; perhaps we can make some adjustments to his diet, he is malnourished. I would also love to know why you shaved his head and what you had attached to it. You should know that the skull of a child during infancy is very tender; if you harm it accidentally you may damage it permanently. Whatever caused the indentations must have been there for a very long period of time."

The doctor paused all of his questions to Muyang and Chi Lian. They were the parents of the boy in the bed after all.

The two had no idea what to say to the doctor. How would they explain that they too had no idea what had happened to their baby during this time.

"I must let you know that in such circumstances I am supposed to involve social services and call in the police because this is a case of child endangerment. I noticed injection marks all over him and red marks on the soles of his feet that are evidence of a whip being used to punish him. If you cannot answer my questions, I am calling the police right now. "The doctor was so serious that he pulled his phone out of his white coat.

The doctor knew that this family was very powerful however he had a duty to do. If the child was in danger, he was obligated to protect him.

Perhaps it was the mention of the red marks that stressed the old madam so much, her eyes rolled backward and she fainted.

"Grandmother," One of the triplets shouted. She had fallen on his body and he was struggling to keep her upright.

Quickly, the old madam was carried to the next room and laid on a bed. Everyone followed them and the doctor went to check on her and this eased the pressure on Muyang and Chi Lian to answer his many questions.

Chi Lian went around to the back of the bed, lifted the blankets and checked her son’s feet. Just as the doctor said, there were red marks. Some were fading and others were newer.

"Host, according to notes in the files, whipping of the soles was used as a way to punish and condition the children. The middle part of the sole..."

"Don’t say more." She told T4. She could already tell what he was going to say. Her son was sleeping, the doctor had injected him with some medicine to calm him down and induce sleep.

Muyang joined her, taking a seat on the other end of the bed, he looked at the little feet of his son angrily, with pain on his face. He took one foot in his hand; it was so small, less than half of his entire palm in size and length.

How could someone have the heart to whip feet as small as this? He wanted to shout, yell and punch something. He would start with that woman.

"Did you find her?" he asked Chi Lian.

"Yes." She replied in a teary tone, she was obviously struggling not to cry.

"Where is she?" he asked in a dead cold voice, one that portrayed his intentions.

"In hell." She answered.

Her words stunned him; he did not have to think hard to know what she meant. Muyang grabbed her shoulders and looked into her eyes seriously.

"Tell no one about this, as far as you know, you lost her somewhere in the tunnels and you have no idea what happened to her." He said.

"That was my plan all along." She assured him.

He held his son’s foot once more and massaged it slowly. "It’s too bad that she is gone, she got off really easy. We should have made her suffer first, pricked her with injections all over and whipped her feet too." He said coldly.

"He looks like you, you could be twins." She commented out of the blue. She wanted to talk about their son, not that woman.

He smiled happily and touched his face. "I guess the Jun family genes are very dominant in our children. I don’t even need a DNA test to ascertain his paternity."

She remembered that his family once ordered for a secret DNA test on Mei-Mei. Would they do the same thing for her son?

"Are you going to do a DNA test?" she asked him. "I am sure your family will be more contented if you do one."

"Grandfather probably told the doctor to do it already." He said.

"We should also give him a name; I don’t even know what else to call him right now except for baby. You should talk to your grandfather about it; we should have a name by tomorrow. If it’s not possible, we should give him a nickname for now."

"Well he has no hair, maybe we should call him little monk." Muyang joked.
