Chapter 207: Royal secret plans
The People’s memorial hospital which the old master bought was ten stories high. It was a big hospital, privately owned by the Tao family. The old master must have given up an arm and leg to convince old master Tao to sell half of it to him.
In this hospital, one entire VIP floor had been emptied; security was placed at the doors and only specifically allocated doctors and nurses were allowed to access the floor. Even the cleaners were personally brought in from outside by the old master.
That’s where Muyang rushed his son to. The little boy was whisked away straight to a treatment room for examination.
"Is that him, Muyang, is that him?" the old master repeated his question, almost tripping over his own feet as he rushed to catch a glimpse of the baby before he could be whisked away.
"Yes." Muyang answered and said nothing else.
His confirmation however was passed on by the old master in text to his wife who informed her daughter-in-law that called Mama Chi. In a few minutes, everyone had made their way to the outside of the treatment room, anxiously waiting outside.
"What else did you find?" the old master asked Muyang.
"Other children, about a dozen, they are all being brought in now. I think we should prepare a private ward for them and caretakers until their parentage can be ascertained." He suggested.
These children were somewhat special, who knew if someone else had an eye on them. And they needed to test their DNA and find out who they belonged to.
"I will get someone to do that immediately." The old master found his assistant sitting in one of the chairs in the hallway and gave him instructions. Then, he returned to waiting outside with the rest of the family.
A nurse came hurrying out of the treatment room and Muyang grabbed her arm and asked, "Is my son okay?"
"Sir, you have to wait for the doctor to update you on the patient’s information." She replied nervously, probably because the rumour was already going around that they were now shareholders in the hospital.
"Just say yes or no." Muyang insisted.
The nurse could see that all the eyes around were looking at her as if they wanted to gobble her up if she said nothing.
"He is not in danger." She said, "But the doctor is the one to give you all the details." She explained.
Muyang then let her go and everyone breathed out loud. As long as he was not in danger, everything else could be dealt with.
Just then, a loud sudden boom was overheard, it sounded like a huge explosion, one that was strong enough to cause tremors like the aftershock of an earthquake.
"Is that an earthquake?" the old madam asked worriedly, "Has Chi-Chi made it out of those sewers? The ground could collapse and bury them." She said in a shaky voice.
Muyang frowned at her words and entered one of the VIP rooms, opening the window wide and looking outside in the direction the explosion had come from. He could see some traces of smoke but in the dark, it was not easy to make out what was happening from a distance.
He got a radio from his waist and asked if she was okay.
When she replied, he sat down on the empty bed and caught his head in his hands. This night had really tested his limits in so many ways.
He had forgotten that everyone that had one of these radios could hear what they were saying, not until Chi Wei’s complaint came blasting through.
Everything that happened after was really not his fault. Mama Chi went crazy on her own demanding to see Chi Wei’s girlfriend.
The banter brought a smile to his face, even the old master and his wife were laughing heavily.
It wasn’t until one of the nurses came out of the treatment room and glared at them that everyone guiltily looked down or away from the nurse and stopped laughing.
This conversation directly reached the ears of the emperor, in order to keep up with the operation he himself sanctioned, he received a radio from Chi Lian. Hence, in the palace, a handsome man with a hint of gray in the sides of his hair, dressed in a yellow silk shirt with white cotton trousers and a heavy black down jacket was chuckling in a way that he did not do out in public.
This was the emperor, he was playing a game of go with the grand emperor in the parlor while they sipped some wine.
"What do you think son, is a marriage union with the Chi family beneficial to the throne?" the grand emperor asked.
"Do you really think they are worth it father? I admit they are interesting; the girl in particular but a marriage is a serious thing. Rize is my only daughter and I am not willing to marry her off to any commoner that shows a little promise. The family is still poor; they are basically chicks who are yet to spread their wings. They could be swallowed up before they get a chance to grow." The emperor replied.
"All the more reason for us to tie them to us right now, if you wait for the eagle to spread its wings and fly away you will not be able to catch it again." The grand emperor tapped down twice with his walking stick which he no longer needed but still used anyway.
"Just look at the state of my health and that of your mothers, we are as fit as fiddles after taking the capsules she gave us. I feel like I will live a long healthy life now, I think I will make it to one hundred fifty." The grand emperor continued.
"If you make it to One hundred and fifty years I will put you in the royal museum and turn you into an exhibition." The emperor responded jokingly with a laugh.
"Son," the grand emperor said sternly, "Will you be serious for a moment, "
"Father, even if we decide to marry Rize off to the son of that family, there is no guarantee that she will agree to it. In this day and age, things like forced marriages are nonexistent, you personally ammended that law, remember?"
"Who said anything about forcing Rize to marry their son?" the emperor questioned.
"If not Rize then who else, are you going to force Chi Lian to become the crown prince’s concubine? You know that people already frown on our culture of keeping concubines, we can’t make it worse by forcing an engaged woman with children to marry the crown prince as his concubine. Jun Muyang will set this palace on fire."
The grand emperor looked at his son as if he was a big fool. "What are you talking about? Did I mention Chi Lian, why won’t you let me finish my words before cutting me off? I meant to say that Chi Rui already likes Rize and she is not too resistant towards him. If we interfere here and there we can push them together successfully. Just what are you thinking in your head?" He finished angrily.
"Ahem, I am sorry, I assumed wrongly." The emperor humbly apologized to his father.
"Hmph, don’t think I don’t know why you and that boy Su moved her and her family here. Instead of creeping around in the shadows like a thief, form a good relationship with her and her family. The same way you want recruit her, the rebels must be planning to do the same. In these times, when people’s hearts are easily moved by money and benefits, we cannot trust easily. We should do our best to win over all the talented people to our side. Miss Chi is a good person, your mother and I have ascertained this. She will not hesitate to help our empire in any way she can so you should stop spying on her and help us hook Chi Rui. After all, Chi Lian gives all the good things in her hands to her family members. If Rize is her sister-in-law, there is no way she will not be included. "
"Yes father, you can expect news of a royal wedding soon." The emperor answered obediently.
