Chapter 198: Who does the little princess love more?
Muyang looked at her as she seriously observed the blue prints on the wall, marking off a few spots here and there with a marker she picked up from his desk. Now that she was back, he felt whole, like there was no mountain he could not scale. Her relentless optimism and bubbliness never failed to fill him with iron clad strength.
He reached his hand out, touched her shoulder and pulled her to stand close to him. With his arm comfortably wrapped around her shoulder, he looked at the spots she marked off. What had she seen that he did not see?
"What is it?" he asked her.
"I don’t see their kitchen, this is the cafeteria, but there is no kitchen. Usually the cafeteria is close to the kitchen in most schools but not in this case. It’s making me curious" She said. "Where is it on the blue prints?"
"It’s..."he carefully looked around as he tried to find it on the blue prints but a sudden cry from the corner drew his attention.
"The little princess is awake." Chi Lian abandoned him and raced to the corner. When she noticed the name plate at the door, she laughed softly.
She pushed it open and approached the little bed where Mei-Mei was sitting up, rubbing her eyes and sniveling. "Our CEO Meiyang, who is making you cry?" She asked in a baby voice.
Mei-Mei turned her big brown eyes on her and raised her hands up, asking to be carried, crying even louder than she had been doing before.
Chi Lian carried her and sat her on her waist. She then walked out of the little partitioned office and sat on a sofa. She rubbed Mei-Mei’s head softly in comforting movements. "What’s wrong my little princess?" she asked.
Muyang came over with a rattle and started shaking it for Mei-Mei.
Chi Lian looked at the pink rattle which had a large bow and the words I am my daddy’s only baby girl written on it. "Isn’t she a little old for rattles?" she inquired curiously. And then she shook her head in wonder at the words on the rattle, of all rattles, did he have to buy one that reminded her of Mei-Mei’s possession of him? And why a rattle of all toys?
She always assumed that rattles were for babies, infant babies not toddlers. Was she wrong? She wondered.
"She likes it, it makes her happy." Muyang answered, "My daughter will never be too old for anything she likes."
And right he was, Mei-Mei was calming down, smiling even. Her tiny hands reached out and grabbed the rattle from Muyang.
"See, I told you she likes it." Muyang bragged.
"What do you do when the rattle fails to work?" she asked the braggart.
"I shake it while dancing." He deadpanned.
Chi Lian could not help herself, she guffawed wholeheartedly. She imagined Muyang dancing like a cartoon to make Mei-Mei happy and she just couldn’t see him doing it. He always carried himself seriously, looking at people coldly. Could he really dance goofily?
"After we find our son, you are going to have to show me that dance." She said happily.
"No," he shook his head, "That’s a secret between me and my princess." He said haughtily.
Out of the blue, Mei-Mei who was happy suddenly started whining again.
"I think she is hungry." Muyang said, "Give her to me, I will warm a bottle of milk for her." He held his hands out expectantly.
"Or we can go home and have actual food." She counter suggested, refusing to give Mei-Mei up. Unfortunately for her, Mei-Mei preferred to be carried by her father and she made it very clear by reaching her short arms for him expectantly.
She had no choice but to hand her over reluctantly. "Why do I think that she likes you more than she likes me?" She asked and then pouted unhappily.
"Because daughter’s are their father’s little cotton padded jackets It’s not a bond that is easily broken." He bragged and pecked Mei-Mei on the cheek. "Who wants to eat grandma’s food?" he tickled Mei-Mei as they left the office.
His words infuriated her further. "When we find our son, I will make sure he loves me the most." She loudly threatened. "Just you wait Muyang." She said determinedly.
"Hahaha..." he laughed as he walked away.
Incensed, she stomped her foot and followed them out, still pouting and not quite ready to drop the issue.
Her words were heard by the employees who were close to the CEO’s office. One of the secretaries took it upon herself to post in the office chat group.
"Guess who the little princess loves more between her father and mother?"
"Of course it’s her mother; all young children love their mothers more than their fathers." Someone replied.
"I think her father." Another replied.
"Definitely father, they spend all day together after all." Someone said.
"We all know it’s her father. Let me let you all in on a secret, Miss Chi has a younger brother who has a secret account named ’My lovely baby.’ I saw a video on there of the little princess stopping her mummy from touching her daddy. The little princess is possessive of the CEO." Someone else said.
Oh my God, I have seen that account but I did not know it was our princess. The face of the baby is always covered with a sunshine emoji." Someone replied.
"I am already searching for the account, I am going to follow It." a determined worker in the accounting department answered.
The account ’my lovely baby’ would soon be followed by all employees of Jun investments. The employees in B city were very happy; finally they could keep up with the affairs of the young master, his lady and the little princess. Boredom was gone; life was breathed into the office gossip demon once again.
In the car, heading to the Emperor’s courts, Wenzhe discovered this information at the same time as other employees did. He was surprised and he wondered if he should tell the young master about the account.
On the other hand, he also wanted to enjoy the gossip. The account was a sneak peep into the other side of the young master, the cute side, so for now, he kept the secret.
