Chapter 199: A warm welcome

"Mother, she is back."

Those were the first words that welcomed her home. They were said by her youngest brother Chi Zimo the moment her first foot stepped in the door.

She smiled appreciatively, loving the sweet warmth and happy voices which she could hear loudly rushing to welcome her home.

"Mother." She happily threw herself into Mama Chi’s embrace when she saw her. "I am home." She said.

"Chi-Chi, thank God you are home safe. The entire nation is talking about the killer in Xunwai town; I was so worried because you went to that scary town. Thank God you are back." She emphasized again.

She remembered that Muyang was just behind Chi Lian so she looked at him and smiled. "Muyang, welcome home too."

"Thank you mother-in-law." He answered.

"What happened to you?" Mama Chi worriedly asked her as she observed her face.

Chi Lian could not help but regret why she didn’t apply makeup and cover it up. Everyone would surely be curious about the mark on her face.

"It’s nothing mother, I run into a door." she lied as she twisted her head from side to side .

"Grandmother." Mei-Mei shouted unhappily.

"Oh and you are here too our Mei-Mei, welcome home." Mama Chi said with some joy in her voice.

This was because Mei-Mei had finally learned to say the word grandmother; this had brought a smile to her face in these sad times.

"Come inside," Mama Chi ushered them inside hurriedly, "It’s so cold outside, why are you still standing in the door way? Are you trying to make my granddaughter fall sick?" She pulled them inside while berating them, forgetting that she was the one who delayed them at the entrance of the house because she was excited that Chi Lian had returned.

"Sister." Chi Zimo approached her and hugged her, "I missed you." He whispered. "By the way, grandmother came to the capital but mother told me not to tell you."

"I will handle her soon." She whispered back to him.

One after another, Chi Rui and Chi Zimo hugged her too.

"I heard you made a lot of progress in tracking down the person, who stole our nephew, what should we do to help?" Chi Rui asked.

"We can discuss it later elder brother, I am very hungry right now." she touched her belly and wrinkled her nose.

Chi Rui nodded in understanding. He looked at the butler and said," Tell one of the maids to bring my sister something to eat. We will be in the greenhouse."

Chi Lian was lost, what reason was taking them to the greenhouse? She had not eaten all day, her plan to visit the kitchen first.

"Elder brother, why are we going to the green house?" she asked curiously as he pulled her along with him.

"Your in-laws are here, the green house was turned into a strategizing room of sorts. I guess the Jun’s wanted us to feel involved in the search for our nephew. The old master told me to bring you to him the moment you return." He explained without stopping his movement.

Previously, she wanted to ask him to slow down but after hearing his explanation, she allowed herself to be dragged by him. He was so much taller than her so his long steps were forcing her to run slightly in order to keep up with him.

When they reached the green house, she was surprised to see the large number of people in there. When Chi Wei said that it was a strategizing room of sorts, he did not mention almost the entirety of the Jun family was here.

How long had they been coming to her home in such large numbers? How long had this been going on?

"Grandfather," she called politely when the old master set his eyes on her and smiled warmly. "I am back." She announced.

The old master nodded and responded, "It’s good to see you again Chi-Chi and you have done such a wonderful job. The rest of us have only made progress because of the information you provided. My dear girl, well done." He smiled slightly and patted her hand.

To Chi Lian, his smile looked slightly forced. His missing grandson had affected him more than she ever thought possible. The previously vibrant old man looked older and worn out, maybe it was her eyes deceiving her but he appeared to be thinner, as if he had lost a few kilograms overnight.

"Grandfather, we are going to find him." She assured him just as she had done for Muyang earlier.

"That’s the spirit, I am happy to see that you have not allowed this to break you." He commented.

She smiled bravely and responded, "I have to be strong for him. I will be of no use to him if I curl up on the bed, cover myself and cry all day."

"Chi-Chi," the old madam appeared behind her husband and called her name. Pushing the old master aside, she embraced Chi Lian. "Welcome back." She said with relief in her voice.

"Thank you grandmother." She answered.

"Come," the old madam pulled her hand to a table that was newly installed. It was being used as a mapping area.

"What’s all this?" she asked. These were the same blue prints Muyang had in his office.

"We are coming up with a plan to infiltrate the school. If we can’t get in legally, we will sneak in like thieves." Ringo responded without taking his eyes off the table.

"Hi sister-in-law." One of the triplets waved at her.

She waved back and the others quickly replicated the words and actions of the first triplet. She responded to each of them politely.

The biggest shock was Chairman Jun, Muyang’s father, he was also here. While he didn’t personally greet her, he nodded at her in acknowledgment.

"T4, did I step into an alternate dimension?" she asked in wonder. Did the man that loathed her so much just nod at her politely in acknowledgement? What had changed between now and a few days ago?

"You gave his son an heir, that’s what changed." T4 told her. "By the way the drone which you sent to scan Cloud schools is back, I have a general map of the area now. You were absolutely right about the kitchen; there is a hidden entrance that you can use to infiltrate the school. But since the drone scan is not as accurate as mine, you need to further ascertain this by comparing the blueprints I provide with the ones on that table.

However, the school is protected by motion sensors, cameras, hidden guards and very brutish looking dogs. If I didn’t know that this was a school, I would assume that it was a military compound. I can’t help but wonder what exactly they are doing in there?"

"Probably something heinous." She replied to him.

Nobody protected an ordinary school that much unless they were hiding something more than a school. How can someone put motion sensors around a kindergarten? It’s basically a school for children and children play a lot. Are the motion sensors set off each time the children chase each other around?

And what about the brutish looking dogs T4 described? Did they not worry that any of those dogs could attack and kill a child?

They needed to get in there as soon as possible.

"Chi-Chi, someone is looking for you outside." Her mother came to the green house and announced. She looked to be very nervous.

"Mother who is it?" she asked as they were leaving. Was it Minister Su? Her mother was only this nervous around him and members of the royal family.

"You need to see for yourself." Her mother replied cautiously. "Don’t offend him, please be well behaved." She further cautioned her daughter.
