Transmigration: Lady Chi Woos The Ice cold Professor Jun -
Chapter 152: Got you
Chapter 152: Got you
Far from her new home, Chi Lian was on a different kind of mission, one which would be her first step in building her own private force in this world. T4 had done a deep scan of the entire Empire’s court and from that scan; she knew that so many of the privileged families were training secret guards.
Deep in their homes were dungeons and secret tunnels which led to their secret bases in the city. She wondered if the emperor was aware. If he was, why was he doing nothing about it? Was he confident or arrogant because they all lived in a place he controlled?
If the emperor did not know, should she somehow make him aware? Chi Lian had a lot to consider before sticking her nose in the muddied waters after all, even the Jun’s had their own secret force. Moreover she was planning to build one for the Chi’s as well. Perhaps it was best to remain an ignorant fool. Cowards lived longer after all.
The presence of those secret tunnels solved a very big problem for her, moving in and out of the emperor’s courts undetected. One such tunnel already existed in the basement of their new house. She had claimed private use of it so that no one would know of its existence unless she told them about it. Her only problem was the fact that she did not know who originally dug the tunnel or why. However, that worry did not stop her from using the tunnel to exit the house and find her way into a dark alley in the city behind the ancient catacombs which were used for filming a lot of historical dramas.
It was dark; most of the streets were being illuminated by dense yellow lights. A good number of movies where being shot at the moment and the catacombs were crawling with a large number of people dressed in ancient costumes. Even in the dark, the busy atmosphere was no different from how it was during the day. She even caught sight of someone dressed as a zombie. If there was a good place for one to blend in easily, it was here.
She was on a mission, heading to Xilian hotel about thirty minutes away to catch her elusive prey.
"T4 is he still there?" she asked. she had been asking this same question every ten minutes or so.
"Yes host, after he made a call from his room ordering for braised pork trotters and chicken feet from the restaurant he has not yet moved."
"Great, then we should deliver his food."
The target she was aiming for was none other than the second shooter who almost killed her in B city. After T4 leveled up, he gained the ability to track anyone anywhere in the world at any given time basing on facial recognition and physical characteristics. The long range sniper assumed that nobody knew his whereabouts because the shot was taken from a distance and he was disguised but T4 was not just any type of simple system. He could even measure the length of ones footsteps and track them based on that alone.
T4 had tracked down the sniper and he had been keeping an eye on him all this time. She had been planning to return to B city to deal with the sniper but that person had followed her to the capital. How could she not go by to send her greetings personally when this person was so close?
Dressed in jeans, a yellow shirt and cap with a bag of food in her hands, she hailed a cab to the Xilian hotel looking just like any other young student doing part time work. The catacombs and its surrounding areas were filled with many such part time working students. Perhaps that’s why the cab driver smiled at her kindly.
"You are working hard at this time of the night, cheer up young lady." The cab driver said.
"Yes, thank you." She replied politely.
At the hotel, she easily got past security with her harmless charming smile and made her way to the room of the shooter.
"T4, cameras." She said as she looked around cautiously. The shifter had not been working alone, there was no guarantee that this person was working alone either. She was not taking any chances again.
"Host, you are all clear."
She put some gum in her mouth and earphones in her ears then knocked on the door and cheerfully announced, "Delivery." Assassins were very careful people; he would not randomly open the door. She was sure he would find a way to peep to ensure that she was who she claimed to be. In her yellow jacket, cap, ill-mannered chewing, earphones and bobbing head, she would appear harmless.
Despite her pretentious humming and head bobbing, she was keeping a sharp eye on the floor which is why she managed to spot his shadow beneath the door.
Impatiently, she banged on the door and complained, "Hey, I have other deliveries to make, you are wasting my time." She even went as far as looking at her watch and cursing.
Just like magic, the door swung open and a couple of bills were thrust at her. The person tried to grab the food bag from her and she held it back. Looking at him, she shook her head reluctantly. So far, she could get a clear picture of this person. The hair appeared to be a wig and they were wearing a hat and mask so she could not tell if he was male or female.
"No cash, credit cards only." She claimed. All this person had to do was leave the door open while he went to find a credit card and she could follow him and either kill him or incapacitate him. It would depend on why this person shot at her.
"Wait here." The person gruffly said and turned around.
Wasting no time, Chi Lian eased herself inside the room and locked the door.
"Watch out." T4 shouted and she slid down with no hesitation. Thankfully, she had good reflexes or a knife would be lodged in her neck at the moment.
If she said that her blood was not boiling, she would be lying. A tiny part of her was excited; it had been a while since she fought an enemy one on one. "Ha ha, as expected of an assassin," she smiled, "What gave me away?" she asked.
The assassin did not answer, instead he or she lunged at her again and a battle of skills, strength, stamina and wits ensued. As they fought, a table was broken, a lamp, a pillow was torn to shreds. Even the chicken feet and pork trotters were used as weapons.
She succeeded in ripping the cap and the wig off the assassin’s head but the two of them ended up on opposite ends of the bed before she could rip the mask off. Still, to Chi Lian this was a small victory.
"Now, we are getting somewhere." She laughed. Her eyes perused over the body of the assassin from head to toe, trying to figure out the sex of her enemy. "You have short hair, your ears are pierced and your chest_" she commented. Her eyes stopped at the chest which was hidden by a brown hoodie.
The assassin quickly covered her chest on instinct and just like that Chi Lian had her first answer on the identity of the assassin.
"Got you." Chi Lian said and she proceeded to laugh hilariously. "Hey, only women react that way when someone looks at their chest. This whole time I have been assuming that you are male; turns out I have been deceiving myself. Now, why don’t you take off that mask so that we can have an honest conversation?"
