Chapter 598: A bad mother vs a great mother
Outside the interrogation room, Folsom was urgently calling medics because they didn’t need anyone dying during interrogation.
In the meantime it didn’t look like Scarlet was even halfway done as she raised her foot, intending to slam it down on Winy Cocker’s ankle.
She was heaving in a rage, and the furniture in the room was being flung left and right.
Esong was holding her around the waist, whispering calming words into her ears. He had turned her face was from every possible camera angle.
They didn’t her golden greenish eyes being captured and questions asked by the humans.
"Did you hear her?" She asked him. "This nefarious bitch..."
Esong carried her away from Winy forcefully with all of his strength and walked towards the door."I heard her but killing the human...err.., woman is not the solution. We still need to know what information she sold to DWN. She has to go through a mund search which will be impossible if you turn her head into mush."
He unlocked the door, not paying attention to her struggles and pleas to be put down.
"We are going home." He announced.
It was a general and loud announcement meant for the ears of everyone that was listening or watching including his friends and her brothers.
As he walked away, medics run past him and headed in the direction he was coming from.
The higher ups that were watching from the capital waited eagerly for them to arrive. They had already been told to ensure that the criminal survived no matter what.
To their surprise, Adler Su walked into the room with a smile, waved at them and turned off all the cameras.
"Don’t go far after waking her up, I will be the one to complete my sister’s work." He told them.
Beord was not standing by idly and he looked asked Ian to lock all doors and passages leading to this specific area for at least ten minutes. Winy Cocker needed to get a taste of the true nature of the Su family’s peace and happiness.
Folsom’s bracelet buzzed and all sorts of warnings were being sent. Not just to him but the other mecha warriors too.
"You guys have like five minutes maximum and they will blast their way in. So, do this as quickly as possible." Folsom told him.
They had all listened to Winy Cocker’s ugly confession and they found her despicable. To some of them, Scarlet had not done enough. She had been too quick and efficient.
She should have dragged out her beating and made it slow and painful.
"If that was my child she had been plotting against, I would have taken away chunks of her skin." Jacks said. He opened a beer and said, "You would have pulled me off her with her scalp in my bare hands.
That’s why I can’t go home lately. My father is frightened about what I will do to his wife if I set my eyes on her."
"She should count herself lucky that our mother is not here." Beord responded.
They had a scream and squeezed their heads through the open door. Winy Cocker was awake, and the pain had just started. A different kind of pain would be waiting when she was transferred to the capital where the empress was already anticipating her arrival.
By the time Scarlet and Esong made it back to the castle, she was calm enough. The anger was still there deep beneath as the sting of betrayal cut deep.
"My baby, my poor baby." She lamented as she made her way to Justin’s bedroom.
"He will be fine. We won’t tell him what she said." Esong told her.
She pushed his bedroom door open and walked into the room with her emotions written all over her face. Tears were streaming down her eyes and she wanted to do was hold him. Esong was wrong, what Winy said would probably come out during her trial, if there was a trial.
It would be a matter of public record that his best friend had approached him at the bidding of her mother with impure motives. Someday in future, he would know this truth.
Justin’s bed was empty and so was hi presence in the bedroom. After everything that had just happened in the span of a few hours, Scarlet’s heart dropped.
For all she knew the information Winy had sold included the path to Justin’s bedroom and security codes so someone had come and grabbed her baby while he slept.
"He is not here Esong, our son is not here.Alex, Justin, where?" She yelled in a panicked voice.
Esong took her hand and told her, "In the kitchen with my mother."
The AI responded, giving a similar response to Esong.
They made their way to the kitchen and found him there as Esong had said. Justin was sitting at the table with a bowl of untouched chicken porridge.
"Baby." Scarlet called out to him.
He lifted his very obviously red puffy eyes, got down from the chair and run to him. She didn’t even hesitate and carried him.
She didn’t notice Esong’s eyes moving to her stomach because all of her focus was on her son.
"What happened? Why are you crying?" She rubbed his back.
He was actually crying. He started the moment she carried him.
"Grandma Emory says Koko is bad and won’t be my friend again. That I will never see her again because she is a dirty low class commoner." He explained between pitiful sobs.
A deep unpleased groan rose from Scarlet’s throat and she glared at Emory. Emory did not show any remorse but rather looked comfortable with herself.
"Someone had to tell him." She said.
Scarlet smiled tentatively and wondered if she had to maybe beat up her big mouthed mother-in-law again.
She handed Justin to Esong and told him to take him up to the roof. Then, she turned around and glared at Emory. As soon as the door was closed, she gave her a piece of her mind.
"It is not your place to tell my son anything. Next time you cross your boundaries I will react and you won’t like it."
Emory responded nonchalantly, "What boundaries? I am his grandmother and unlike you I happen to also be a great mother."
Soft angry laughter escaped Scarlet’s lips and she asked Emory. "Are you calling me a bad mother?"
"Yes." Emory answered without taking a moment to think.
Scarlet took a deep breath and prayed for strength not to beat up another human on this very long tiring night.
Emory was not inclined to keep her thoughts to herself and she went on. "I warned you about allowing that commoner into his life. But you are foolishly sentimental and you always do what he wants.
He is a child! He doesn’t know what is good or bad for him.
If he wants friends, get him noble friends at his level. Commoners are always looking for something, you can’t trust them.
I raised the greatest mecha warrior, a mecha king. I can help you raise one too if you let me. Justin can even surpass his father if only you could let yourself be a great mother like me."
