Chapter 596: The interrogation

When Scarlet landed, she was immediately driven to the London branch of the mecha warrior’s association. All communications had been restored on the planet and Emmet Wu was giving an apology speech on BSTV, explaining what he led to the circumstances.

He was not alone at what appeared to be a well put together press conference. Folsom was there to represent the mecha warriors and Inspector Jam too was there to speak on behalf of the RGB.

Scarlet couldn’t help wondering where captain Zorl was if he wasn’t at the press conference. He was the face of the RGB on the Blue star after all. He was always there for such events.

"This was not a targeted attack aimed at anyone specific. Again, I would like to make it clear that we received information that over thirty active members of DWN were planning a major incident which will not be disclosed because the investigation is still ongoing.

Updates will not be coming from the governor’s office on this case. You can seek for answers from the mecha warriors association or the RGB.

Emmet, after apologizing all of five times or so in his short speech gave way to Admiral Folsom to air out what he could share of the operation.

"We are here governor." Tion informed her. He hurried out, came over and opened her car door. Even when he was doing this, he used his towering frame to shield her from any possible incoming attack.

Reporters were already inside the downstairs lobby of the mecha warriors association. When they saw her, they eagerly started taking pictures or yelling out questions.

Scarlet did not respond and she breezed past them as if they were invisible. Her guards surrounded her on every side until the moment when they stepped into the elevator.

Even before she arrived, everyone upstairs was alerted to her arrival, including her brothers and husband. Esong was personally interrogating Winy Cocker under the frowning disapproving watchful eyes of Commander Shaw that was watching from from the capital.

Some members of the tribunal were there too and they were just as uneasy as the commander. They needed answers and Esong in his dangerous mood was not the right person to get them.

The woman herself was crying and screaming instead of responding to the questions.

The only person from the capital among those that were watching with a smile on his face was the emperor.

The Su brothers were watching the interrogation on a screen when their sister barged in.

"Scarlet, you are here." Adler said with no surprise in his voice.

"Hey bros." She shot them a two second gaze and pushed her way into the interrogation room.

Adler and Beord followed after her as quickly as they could but she was faster and she locked the door from the inside.

Adler was shouting at the top of his voice, "Wait, wait, wait." As he shouted, he banged on the door but there was no answer.

Inside the interrogation room, Esong smelled her before being aware of her presence and he smiled. His wife was not the most emotionally stable woman on the planet lately. Ideally, he would carry her out of the room immediately but given what Winy had done, she deserved to get her pound of flesh in person.

"She should not be in there, what are you doing?" One of the judges on the tribunal immediately rebuked.

Commander Shaw was in agreement with that judge and he loudly made his opinion known. "I agree, governor Scarlet this is not appropriate."

"Maybe you should all calm down and see where this is going." The emperor suggested.

Commander Shaw was reluctant and in a small pitched unwilling voice said, "But.."

"Did I stutter Shaw?" the emperor cut him off.

Commander Shaw gulped and shook his head. "I apologize your highness."

No one raised another objection and they watched with grudging acceptance.

Outside, the door of the interrogation room, some of Esong’s closest friends showed up to watch the thrilling drama that were very certain was about to follow. Captain Jacks even showed up with popcorn as if he was about to watch a movie.

"Ooouh, share some with me." Ian told him.

Cedric was practically vibrating with excitement. "This is gonna be epic."

Jacks, wholly amused asked his friends, "How much are you guys willing to bet? I am willing to bet one hundred star coins that she does the famous Su hair pulling."

Ian chuckled and said, "Did you see the way Esong pulled it off? It’s not just a Su thing now. It could be on it’s way to the royal Wu family now. I know the sixth princess would be more than ready to try it out."

Jacks pointed at the two Su brothers and asked his friends, "So who do you think the first Su to invent the mysterious deadly combat skill of hair pulling was?

"The one and only Mega Su." Cedric replied eagerly.

Beord turned around and glared at the men that had somehow become his friends over time because they spent time together often and shared drinks. "You guys know that we can hear you, right?"

"Oh we do." Jacks answered. "We are speaking loudly so that you can give us some answers. Who was the first hair ripper in your family?"

"Yeah I am not answering that." he replied.

He turned back to the screen, waiting anxiously to see what his sister would do. Hopefully, she would do too much damage.

Meanwhile, Scarlet was silently staring at Winy Cocker who was still not done with her crying antics. She looked at her bracelet terminal and noticed that it had been about five minutes.

"Enough." she barked. "You don’t get to play the scared damsel in distress or innocent weak woman after what you have done."

Winy opened her mouth and wailed even louder. Scarlet was annoyed and she injected her supernatural into her words, sending a command to the woman.

"I said, enough." she ordered, again.

Winy’s body went stiff and she stopped crying. She tried to call forth the tears but something in her wouldn’t allow her to do so.

"I have just one question for you, why?" Scarlet asked her. "My family and I, we have been so good to you. I have been nice to your daughter. I took care of her when she visited my castle, fed her everything she requested, read her bedtime stories when she slept over with Justin." Her voice deepened more and more as she spoke. "I gave you and your husband more privileges and opportunities than most commoners have because my son called your daughter his best friend. What is it that I or we did wrong to you because it can’t be our son. Justin is a sweet kind boy. He cannot be the cause of whatever this is."

Winy sealed her lips, folding them together and shaking her head in refusal to respond.

Scarlet’s eyes darkened, a bit of green appeared in them. Under the table, the gloves she was wearing started to heat up as her flame started reacting. She banged her fist on the table and said, "You will respond and you will do so honestly or so help me I will rip your head off from where you are sitting."
