Chapter 586: Little mama Bear.

They returned to the middle of the city and she went to the Seven suns hotel, to the suite which she was staying in on the days when she was in the capital. She had booked the suite for the rest of the year since she didn’t want to stay in the palace or the old Su family house.

As a matter of fact, the entire floor had been booked and different members of the Su family and their guards used the suites and other facilities there as if it was a home away from home.

"I am going to the underworld to show one of the deities this and see how we can undo it." He showed her a capsule which he had swiped from the factory.

Scarlet touched it and felt the energy within. It felt incomplete.

"It’s like quarter of a soul." she said.

Severus nodded. "I think that’s what they are doing. They have found a way to split the souls into bits and sell them."

Scarlet scoffed and laughed dryly. Her face twisted in an ugly way as she sneered. "It’s drugs for soul eaters or monsters." Someone had found a way to make money or something else in the supernatural community.

But, why hadn’t she heard anything about it? She had a few supernatural spies in the capital. Had they missed this or did they choose not to share the news?

She would go out investigating on her own while Severus found out if there was a solution to help the souls which had been harmed.

She took a bath first, washing away the stench from the factory and the lab. No surprise to her, she vomited, chucking out what she had for lunch.

When she came out of the bathroom, her stomach was empty and her hands were rubbing her belly. She took a deep breath and threw herself down on the bed giving the barest of glances to Flan who had come to guard her. The hound was at the window, looking outside.

"Alex, what have you found so far?"

The AI activated, formed a virtual screen and showed her an arranged presentation in slide formation.

"Kostya genetics lab, formed in..."

She shook her head. "Not the history unless it’s related to current events. How long have they been doing these human tests of this nature?"

"Two years, mistress. Kostya genetics was bought out two years ago by Saub genetics. It’s currently a subsidiary of the company however the buy out was kept secret so publicly, Kostya genetics is still an independent company."

Scarlet sneered. "Of course it was a secret. They could not do such tests publicly without being condemned so they found an alternative. I am sure they are waiting for the day their abnormal tests produce results and then they will come out and announce the acquisition as if it has just happened. Who owns Saub genetics?"

"The noble house of Godiver." Alex replied.

"Now why doesn’t that surprise me." Scarlet answered. Lord Godiver was not a good man. If he was involved in this, only the commoners would be surprised.

"Mistress, even though the house of Godiver owns the company, all the transactions I can see are authorized by someone not related to them, a Sergio Razak. He is the current CEO of the company."

Of course they would leave a way out for themselves. It was called plausible deniability. The face of the teenager that she had been forced to leave behind crossed her mind and she felt the urge to vomit again. They really shouldn’t have left him behind. He was just a child.

A voice in her mind said, "Every human is someone’s child." It was Flan, who was apparently all caught up on what they had discovered.

"I know that." she replied, snappish.

Her tone made her wince and she felt bad for snapping at the hound. It was not the cause of her anger. The humans who knowingly caused pain to others were the ones in wrong. Why have free will if all it was going to be used for was this?

"Then why rescue him alone and leave the others behind?" Flan cut into her mind with a question.

Scarlet turned her head to face the wall and refused to answer the question.

Flan jumped onto the bed and nuzzled her. "Your condition has continually made you more emotional and unstable than you usually are."

"I am fine." she answered curtly.

"No, you aren’t." Flan insisted. "We need to go and see Arcissa again."

"I saw her this month and I will be seeing her again in two weeks. If I stop by so often people will become suspicious. A female reaper visiting....."

Her terminal buzzed and she stopped explaining. A call that she had long been waiting for had finally come.

"Baby, my baby..." she answered the call happily.

On the other end of the hologram video call, Justin was equally excited to see her. "Mommy."

He was in school so he couldn’t up and leave anyhow just because some members of the Su family were doing so. He was with his grandparents, great grandparents and some of the Wu’s who stayed back on the Blue star after the engagement. He had actually become more independent this way but he mad a rule than when apart, they had to speak three times everyday.

Once in the morning on his way to school, second when he returned from school and third before bed.

"My sweetheart, how was school? Tell me everything and leave nothing out." she asked him.

He pushed his face towards the camera and showed her his neck. "Mommy, look, Koko scratched me."

She sat upright as if she had just been tased into shock. "What do you mean? Why did she scratch you? What happened?"

There were four bright red marks on his neck meaning that he had not even been to see the doctor. What was everyone thinking?

"Does it hurt? Baby, tell me if it hurts. Where is your uncle Beord, tell him that I want to talk to him." she said, very irritated.

Justin scratched his head and pouted. "Mommy.." He had that look like when he was about to lie or find some excuse to end the matter as effectively as possible.

"Uncle, get your uncle." Scarlet insisted.

She shrugged Flan away because the hound was pushing it’s snout into her hair which was irritating her.

"You have set the bed covers on fire again." The hound said. "I have told you that you are too emotional lately but you don’t listen."

Scarlet’s green flames had a habit of coming out at the worst possible moment and she was back to wearing gloves again. She took a deep breath in and out, calming herself.

"Sis," she heard Beord’s voice and looked at the screen.

As she donned her gloves, she asked, "Beord, what happened at Justin’s school? Do i need to call principal Stash and have a word with her?"

"No, it was just a little spat between kids." Beord answered. "I knew that you would overreact about this so I stayed around just in case. Sis, relax."

"Relax, relax, relax!!!" Scarlet somewhat raised her voice.

"Deep breath, deep breath," Flan said.

She ignored the hound and tapped a still image of Justin’s neck. "Look at my baby’s neck. He looks like he was mauled by a cat."
